Well, I go to the theater today, and its curtain - there is no curtain in this play; the lights go down and go up - and we start. And I live this character for two hours. There are only two of us in the play. And It's a complete experience.

O, Curtain Boy...my Curtain Boy!
i'm the stage
i'm the setting
i'm the play
i'm the actor
i'm the green room, too
but how's it you kept
the command ove the
curtain in your hands?
o, curtain boy!
my curtain boy...
don't you see
the stage's developing cracks?
the setting's getting ruined?
the lines're getting broken?
the actor's growing weary?
the greenroom floor is all smudged
with the colours of spent out emotions?
o, curtain boy...
my curtain boy!

If Everyone Was Listening
The actors and jesters are here
The stage is in darkness and clear
For raising the curtain
And no-ones quite certain whose play it is
How long ago, how long
If only we had listened thein.
If wed known just how right we were going to be.
For we dreamed a lot
And we schemed a lot
And we tried to sing of love before the stage fell apart.
If everyone was listening you know
Thered be a chance that we could save the show
Wholl be the last clown
To bring the house down?
Oh no, please no, dont let the curtain fall
Well, what is your costume today?
Who are the props in your play?
Youre acting a part which you thought from the start
Was an honest one.
Well how do you plead?
An actor indeed!
Go re-learn your lines,
You dont know what youve done
The finales begun.
If everyone was listening you know
Thered be a chance that we could save the show,
Wholl be the last clown
To bring the house down?
Oh no, please no, dont let the curtain fall.

Behind That Curtain
Let me show and tell you my people,
Behind that curtain,
where all the cooking can be attained,
that, all suprises are drowned,
yap'that, where our eyes directed.
Behind that curtain,
decorated with a colourful carpet,
with a big secret underneath,
yeah! that where every eye digging into it.
Behind that curtain,
sorroundedby curious walls,
walls with beautiful dolls,
yap! that every finger would like to touch.
Behind that curtain,
where all decisions are made,
decisions of power and trade,
that may stand years and decades.
Behind that curtain,
drafted with Tanzanite colour,
that may stand for years not hours,
yes, where every heart would like to mingle in.
Behind that curtain,
where I hear a smell,
something like a rotten hell,
yes, that every fly would be pleased to kiss.
that is where you belong and it is yiur home.

You come in off the street, through the doors of the theater. You sit down. The lights go down and the curtain goes up. And you're in another world.

Morning in North Sligo
Slowly back the mist cloud moves,
as if drawn, like a duvet,
from a sleepers dream.
Like a stage curtain in
a drama, opens a play.
The moving mists the day.
Birds, thrushes and starlings
play on air, swoop and dip,
like scouts in early summer river,
dammed up beside their summer tent.
The mountains, awaken the ferns,
purple colored pall.
Rocks as if giants spoons,
turned upside down.
Old pigeons coughing a sound
on branches of trees,
observing, just that.
The others swoop and dive
upon the air,
await another time,
when tents rolled up,
and curtain closes over,
and drama is complete,
the story acted out
of generations,
another night.

On the other side of the blue curtain
Every day
the blue curtain appears,
unless white clouds
linen it off.
At dusk
the blue curtain,
disappears when it becomes transparent.
On the other side of the blue curtain
lies lights of ruby, sapphire and emerald
which appears in the heaven
and the black becomes full of dots
that twinkles and sparkles
and disappear
when the sun rises.

Dont Play Me
Dont play me
Im over 30 & I dont smoke weed
I put my ass away & music Ive played
Aint the type of stereo ure tryin to feed
Dont play me
Dont play me
I use proper english & Im straight
Im in the news again for paying dues my friend
And not the type of ganda u prop in my way
Dont play me
Dont play me
Ive been to the mountain top & it aint what u say
Dont play me
Dont play me
Im the wrong color & I play guitar
My only competition is well in the past
Time & time if time existed movin ever so fast
Dont play me
U couldnt play enough of me now
2 make me feel like a star
Dont play me I already do in my car
Dont play me
Dont be mad at me
The curtain puller in the game
Maybe how u call us niggers aint the same
Its all good when u know the only fame
Is the light that comes from God & the joy u get to say his name
Dont play me
Dont play me
Ive seen to the mountain top & it aint what u say
Dont play me
Already got laid

The Times Square Bomber
When death lurked just around the corner
My wife and I were sitting at a play.
Some immigrant –American was plotting
to turn Broadway into the great red way.
He'd parked his car bomb near the Times Square station
On foot, he bravely made his getaway
He took a rain check on the promised virgins-
So he might live to bomb another day.
Inside the playhouse buzzed with many rumors-
Why was the curtain held so long past eight?
It's unheard off to delay a Broadway curtain
just because some ticket-holders get there late.
You know the rest- the danger was discovered
The plot had fizzled, just like in our play
His car proved the star witness to convict him
He'll rot in jail until his dying day.
Then, when he dies and ventures up to heaven
and is greeted by the heavenly Houri.
There will be two and seventy intacto-
He'll have long since lost his own “virginity”

The Conqueror Worm
[Young Poe:]
Lo! 't is a gala night
A mystic throng bedecked
Sit in a theater to see
A play of hopes and fears
While the orchestra breathes fitfully
The music of the spheres
Mimes, mutter and mumble low
Mere puppets they, who come and go
Disguised as gods
They shift the scenery to and fro
Inevitably trapped by invisible Wo
This motley drama
to be sure
Will not be forgotten
A phantom chased for evermore
Never seized by the crowd
Through they circle
Returning to the same spot
Circle and return to the selfsame spot
Always to the selfsame spot
With much of madness and more of sin
And horror and mimic rout
The soul of the plot
Out
out are the lights
out all
And over each dying form
The curtain a funeral pall
Comes with the rush of a storm
The angels haggard and wan
Unveiling and uprising affirm
That the play is the tragedy "Man"
And its hero the Conqueror Worm

Take It Away
Take it away
Wanna hear you play til the lights go down
Take it away
Dont you wanna stay til theres no one else around
Lonely driver
Out on the road
With a hundred miles to go
Sole survivor
Carrying the load
Switches on his radio
Take it away
Wanna hear you play til the lights go down (down, down)
Take it away
Dont you wanna stay til theres no one else around
Take it away
Wanna hear you play til the lights go down
Take it away
Dont you wanna stay til theres no one else around
In the audience
Watching the show
With a paper in his hand (in his hand, in his hand)
Some important
Impresario
Has a message for the band
Take it away
Wanna hear you play til the lights go down (down, down)
Take it away
Dont you wanna stay til theres no one else around
Never that his
Baby listening to your
Never that his
Baby listening to your
Never that his
Baby listening to your
Take it away
Take it away
After hours
Late in the bar

Faded flowers

til the evening is complete

Theatricality
The curtain is blessed by the action of courts,
It is the court of law that we revere for law,
The laws are demonstrated again and always.
The curtain has bemoaned the activity of a theatre
And not a performance by the axioms of government,
It is the red curtain, great and glorious, beautiful.
My curtain is again a glamorous canvas so grand,
It hides all sight and hearing, as if spoken to by the grandness,
And the majesty of a queen is all that is good in this hall.
My theatricality is holy, all the time, aware are the king and queen
Who list their favourite actors and actresses, with their book,
Without a bias or grudge, without too much contemplation.

Bad Little Actress
I cant carry on
This play is too long
I must be going
Extend my regrets
I gave it my best
But now Im going
This is too much for me to take
Something tells me that shes faking it
She says she dont care
She wants to be fair
She must be joking
Its simple she said
Lets not lose our head
Tell me shes joking
This is too much for me to take
But somebody isnt faking
Someones heart is breaking
And if you see her give her my critique
Shes a bad little actress
Gets no curtain call
But the worst of all
When the curtain falls
Theres no one at the backstage door
Im more than her friend
cause I knew her when
She was no sensation
Shes wasting our time
Repeats all her lines
Whats her motivation?
Now she wont share her stage with me
Her performance was outrageous
Put me through some changes
So if you see her give her my critique
Shes a bad little actress
Her delivery dont come naturally
Anyone could see she doesnt mean a word she says
Her mascara ran
And the show was panned
But Im still her biggest fan
So when you see her give her my critique
Shes a bad little actress
Gets no curtain call
But the worst of all
When the curtain falls
Theres no one at the backstage door

In The Palm Of Your Hand
I kept the ticket stub-
......And everything else from-
...Our last theater date;
I am remembering it again-nostalgic;
That once entrancing scene-
......The tenderness
....That had wedged itself
...Inside of my psyche
Bursting itself open-an eternal flame;
Today i look for anything that reminds
.........Me of act two-
...And the Stage of our relationship
...Before the curtain call...
...That had me in the palm of your hand-
...And craving much more;
Alas, remembering has its negatives;
...........I become disturbed!
...For the theater and all of its flame-filled thoughts-
...All become wrong!
..........For at the very last-

L Word
I climb in bed
She's distracted
Flipping pages
Asking for the matches
Cigarette smoke hangs
Just like a curtain
That makes me wonder
Is her love for certain?
I see the truth now
She gave me the blues today
She turns the lights out
Whenever I want to play
Chorus:
(L.O.V.E.) She don't get the message
All I ever wanted was your love
All I ever wanted was your love
Our love is dyin'
On the cold sheets
My body aching
To warm a heart with no heat
Just a whisper
Of the "L" word
Makes her shiver
She touches love with cold feet
In her heart lies the naked truth
I could use today
She turns the lights out
Before my heart can say...
Chorus
Bridge:
L's the word that I heard
From your lips

The Actress
Spellbound, she peeked beyond the curtain.
The audience was full.
She could not remember her opening lines
and now there came a lull.
The time had arrived for her grand debut.
Where had her words all gone?
She'd rehearsed them over and over again
and now the curtain was drawn.
The lights were shining upon her face
and the audience was devoid of noise.
She closed her eyes for a second
and became the picture of poise.
One by one the words unfolded
and she became the character she played.
By the time the first act ended
her nervousness all did fade.
She was born for this and nothing else.
The stage became her throne.
For years she portrayed each heroine.
The world was all her own.
But some years later a younger one
was ready for her debut.
So she sadly stepped out of the limelight
and wondered 'Now what will I do? '

Curtain call
Curtain call
~
A show as long as a life
Written in the script of the unknown
The mysterious bard has foretold
The final curtain call
~
The closing act is well underway
The last scene about to begin
Soon the lights shall dim to blackness
And the curtains shall fall to close
The lead bystander is all but done
A role written to an end
~
This has been no great story
A simple forgetful tale if told true
The mild tragedy of a few events
Within the comedy of it all
The final performance, a swansong
Then all shall be done
~
Once it is over and the curtain falls
The audience shall rise to leave
With a clatter of chairs ringing out
A dull applause

I came to America to become an architect. And somewhere along the line while I was still in school, I was lured into theater, and that's how I became interested in theater. My first play was something called ""A Banquet for the Moon."" It was a weird play.
Black Curtain
They walk with the black curtain over their faces
They gather others with the pain it leaves behind
The people live in darkness nothing in their minds
Their faces are blank no expresion no feeling
Those who have seen know what it does
Those who know weep in solitude and sorrow
They don't look forward to today or tomorrow
They know everything yet they know nothing
The peoples skin all white and sickened
Their voices a raspy mist
All they look for all they long for is peace and bliss
Their cloths worn and tattered
They know there is no cure
They know there is no hope, no place for them to rest
For they know they will soon be one less
They know there is no cure they know they will rot away
They walk through this aweful place
With dread and dispare
Everyone knows, and try not to stare
Yet it is so hard to sheild your eyes, to hold back the tears
The black curtain lays over their eyes
The cloth that shall never be lifted
For it is too far they have drifted
The curtain falls over their faces
The darkness sets in
They know the time has come for them to leave this place
There is no expresion on their faces
As the curtian and sickness leaves
They will suffer no more
They will go home
And will never be alone
For the curtain is lifted and they are in the light once more

Our only competition in the theater is boredom, because if I'm bored with a play, if I'm revolted by a play on stage, with the Broadway prices, especially today, I'm going to walk out and not come back and pay that price again.
