You would like me to say that the veil will be ripped from the voters' eyes sometime between now and November, thereby restoring the proper version of Democracy to the House and Senate. I won't say that, of course. The simple reason is, I don't know.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over lousy fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. Well, if Democratic members in the House elect Nancy Pelosi as their leader, it's almost as if they just didn't get the message from the voters this election. I mean, the voters outright rejected the agenda that she's been about. And here they're going to put her back in charge.

Abolish Appointed Canadian Senate Mar 8th 2011

Politicians want to abolish our appointed Senate now,
An appointed aristocracy that’s too much to allow,
An expensive establishment that we could do without,
But this could or might cause large-scale bureaucratic freak out.

Some say the Senate is a sacred place of sober second thought,
While others, when they hear this, they become very distraught,
An appointed Senate they say is a sign of no democracy,
They are not elected while we are forced to accept aristocracy.

Senators should be elected they say - they are not sacred cows,
There is no leadership there and none has ever been allowed,
Are we bogged down in an ancient system that can’t be changed?
No referendums or proportional representation – strange.

What Democracy?

Media moguls announce our democracy every day,
It's only natural because this is Canada, they say,
Even though we're not allowed to elect someone to our Senate,
So much for our democracy on our Canadian planet.

And appointees to the Supreme Court come from a secret list,
So secret that we are forbidden to read, help or assist,
And death with dignity is completely and utterly forbidden,
They did it to Sue Rodriguez and the reasons were hidden.

We have no recall for drunken or idiot politicians,
These aristocrats can't be recalled because of their positions,
Therefore they want to maintain the political status quo,
So much for our democracy in this political game show.

Ticke[te]d Off

TICKE[TE]D OFF
Cold urns, mold marbled busts, shelved, stored, inanimate
mock passion’s pyres unburned, fires shunned through puny life.
On Earth few still maintain their stay predestinate,
most, weak, betray themselves until the t[h]read of strife
is severed - only then, each finds it is too late,
trip taken only once is ended by Death’s knife.

“The Proper Study of Mankind”

These storied marble busts and urns inanimate
mock on where passions grate, avoided during life.
On Earth who still believes his stay predestinate?
Most, tenets true betray until the t(h) read of strife
is severed, - only then, each knows it is too late.
The trip is made but once, is ended by Death’s knife.

November Love (My First Poem) (Two Versions)

Below, you will see two versions of my very first poem.
Its important to understand that the first version of the poem
is exactly as I wrote it at 6: 15 to 6: 30 PM on November 2nd
1970. I made no changes to it. It is also important to know
that this was, in fact, my first ever attempt to write a poem
of any kind whatsoever. The second version is modified from
the first because I wanted to demonstrate how a few simple
word changes can convert a rather average poem of some
quality into a poem of great quality and structure.

In early November the air is clear
With many sounds of lovers near.
Not as the April birds that sing
Nor as the Sunday church bells ring.
But rather to the rhythm of rain,
The hearts of lovers beat again.
For it's not true love that blooms in spring
Nor is it of love that birds do sing.
Rather of that love soon gone
And never seems to carry on.
That April love that all partake,
But very few ever make.
It's all year long this false love swells
Till in November true love dwells.

I have removed the voting option on this poem
and placed it in my Hall Of Fame, due to its
history described above and its usefulness as
an example to the readers.

Hero

Collins demo version released as b-side of we wait and we wonder single,
1994)
Well it was one of those great stories
That you cant put down at night
The hero knew what he had to do
And he wasnt afraid to fight
The villain goes to jail, while the hero goes free
I wish it were that simple for me.
And the reason that she loved him
Was the reason I loved him too
And he never wondered what was right or wrong
He just knew - he just knew.
Shadows and shape mixed together at dawn
But by time you catch them simplicitys gone
And so we sort through the pieces
My friends and i
Searching through the darkness to find
The breaks in the sky.
And the reason that she loved him
Was the reason I loved him too
And he never wondered what was right or wrong
He just knew - he just knew.
And we wonder, yes we wonder
How do you make sense of this
When the hero kills the maiden
With his kiss - with his kiss.
Well it was one of those great stories
That you cant put down at night
The hero knew what he had to do
And he wasnt afraid to fight
The villain goes to jail, while the hero goes free
I wish it were that simple for me
- if it were that simple for me.

Rumi

Weary not of us, for we are very beautiful

Weary not of us, for we are very beautiful; it is out of very jealousy and proper pride that we entered the veil.
On the day when we cast of the body’s veil from the soul, you will see that we are the envy of despair of man and the Polestars.
Wash your face and become clean for beholding us, else remain afar, for we are beloveds of ourselves.
We are not that beauty who tomorrow will become a crone; till eternity we are young and heart-comforting and fair of stature.
If that veil become worn out, the beauty has not grown old; the life of the Veil is transient, and we are boundless life.
When Eblis saw the veil of Adam, he refused; Adam called to him, “You are the rejected one, not I.”
The rest of the angels fell down prostrate, saying as they bowed themselves, “We have encountered a beauty:
“Beneath the veil is an idol who by his qualities robbed us of reason, and we, prostrate, fell.”
If our reason does not know the forms of the foul old men from those of the beauties, we are apostates from love.
What place is there for a beauty? For he is the Lion of God. Like a child we prattled, for we are children of the alphabet.
Children are beguiled with nuts and raisins, else, how are we meet for nuts and sesame-grains?
When an old woman is hidden in helmet and chainmail, she says, “I am the illustrious Rostam of the battle ranks.”
By her boast all know that she is a woman; how should we make a mistake, seeing that we are in the light of Ahmad?
“The believer is discriminating” - so said the Prophet; now close your mouth, for we are guided rightly without speech.
Hear the rest of from Shams the Pride of Tabiz for we did not take the end of the story from that king.

Good is always in simple way, bad always finds the escape
Good is always in simple manner, bad always fakes to cheat

Good is always in simple reason, bad always uses layered lies
Good is always in simple trust, bad always changes the side
Good is always in simple life, bad always watches his back
Good is always in simple word, bad always talks complicated
Good is always in simple fun, bad always tired to understand
Good is always in simple hope, bad always tries to control the world
Good is always in simple choice, bad always looks what’s the point
Good is always in simple act, bad always counts the advantage
Good is always in simple thing, bad always exaggerates what have been

Democracy v Liberty

The fathers of democracy.
The ancient Greek philosophers
were dependent on slavery.

Which leaves me in a quandary.
How can it be democracy
to have such inequality?

I think democracy should be
a universal human right.
Though it is not quite obviously.

An ideal to aspire to.
Which one day might be possible.
The time has come now to review.

What we mean by democracy.
If everybody has their say.
It might well lead to anarchy.

When we elect a government.
The will of the majority
is what they’re meant to represent..

But it seems they rarely do.
This cannot be democracy.
the many are ruled by the few.

Who gain control quite legally
because their wealth allows them to
encouraged by our apathy.

The systems open to abuse
The people have the power to
insist on change; which we don’t use.

We vote or not just as we choose.
A facet of democracy.
I would be hesitant to lose.

It seems to me democracy
is something which we can’t achieve
and still retain our liberty.

There is no way that I can see
which will be fair to everyone.
I must admit despondently.

A partial democracy
is what we have and will retain
a curb upon our liberty.

You have no reason to complain
if you choose not to use your vote.
You have the freedom to abstain.
