Those who set out nobly to be their brother's keeper sometimes end up by becoming his jailer. Every emancipation has in it the seeds of a new slavery, and every truth easily becomes a lie.

A Classroom Assignment
On Freedom
By Thomas S. Sidney, aged 12 Years
October 21st, 1828
Freedom will break the tyrant's chains,
And shatter all his whole domain;
From slavery she will always free
And all her aim is liberty.
On Slavery
By George E. Allen, aged 12 Years
October 21st, 1828
Slavery, oh, thou cruel stain,
Thou does fill my heart with pain;
See my brother, here he stands
Chained by slavery's cruel hands.
Could we not feel a brother's woes,
Relieve the wants he undergoes?
Snatch him from slavery's cruel smart,
And to him freedom's joy impart?

My Brother's Keeper
Am I my brother's keeper? Is he mine?
I heard there was a thin line between love and hate
Making one wonder just how much one's heart can take.
I promised to be there for you thru thick and thin, and vice versa
But things never got better, only worse
Now it seems like our whole race is being cursed
So I ask, am I my brother's keeper? or am I my brother's grim reeper?
Now days people are so quick to take another's life
Quick to pull that gun, quick to stab that knife
They don't give a damn if you're a son, brother, father
They don't give a damn about your mother, child, nor wife.
We are quick to say that we need unity but divided we always act
But is it all of us? No, not at all, it is just a select few
Giving a bad reputation to the rest of the black race
Steady killing our own race, our people, each and everyday
Why do we resort to this kind of violence? why destroy each other?
We need to come together and become our brother's keepers
Stop the violence. Lets stop making our race suffer
I don't want to see anymore families crying, anymore brothers dying
Lets stop being our brother's grim reeper
And start being what we need to be, our brother's keeper

Truth Behind Truth
This is the account of me and my expirience. For in my series of inconcievable events this sole one brought me to that state of intellectual nirvana, and quickly transformed me into an ever jubulant person. For when this happened me and my bretheren, which were known as 'The Council' were on a quest, as you would say. A life long journey that cost many of my bretherens lives. But still we searched, ever vigulant for the one that would either bring us salvation for us all...or the destruction of our abominated lives. We searched for the one that Legend calls....
Thy Brothers Keeper
Because what is Thy Brother's Keeper consist of?
Is it this specimen that we supposively call a man,
Who lurks around with its feeble stand?
It said it could walk
And it said it could run
But from observance...its more like a caveman
Trying to evolve into a civilized bum
And he stands here before us
This man, warrior, dreamer
The Council awestruck glare at eachother and exclaim
'Is this Thy Brother's Keeper?
How could it be
Its a missconception
I mean, by God!
Look at his awedishous complection
His clothes are tattered
He looks empty and drained
Is it to say that
Our search was in vain? '
His gaze drove upon us
Eyes far from kind
Then his voice filled the great hall
Top, bottom, front, behind
'Hear me now!
And hear me you better!
Before i beat yalls butts
very much redder
Who are you to judge me
What I am and not
Cause you, sir, are no God
Just a broken flower pot
You stand up for what, man?
Be true to your believes
Try helpin' the people
Instead of giving anguish and grief
And I know what I look like
I do not regret
For great deeds I have done
That I will never forget
But I ask of you now
And this statement might be deeper
Be loyal to yourself brother
If you wish to protect Thy Brother's Keeper'
It was hard to say anything
We were filled with much hurt
His feelings spread and awe
Like a discharge of fireworks
But still....in that Great Hall
His words rung like Liberty Bell
'Brother's Keeper. Brother's Keeper'
I can still hear it well..

Slavery
I found blinded slavery: a persons’
Present tied to their parents’ past that urge
Them to yield to their traditions, worsened
By ancient spirits, fettered and scourged.
I found muted slavery: which mated
The life of a man to a wife he hates
And places her body in a hated
Husbands bed deadening both lives and fate.
I found deafened slavery: which stifles
The soul and heart of man rendering him
An empty echo, no voice, pitiful
Shadow of a body, a grim phantom.
No emancipation proclamation
Freed man from self-imposed subjugation.

Emancipation
Ever since I was a little baby
I had 2 have double everything
When they tell me thats enough
Thats when I wanna fill my cup
2 the top, johnny, hear me sing
Chorus:
Emancipation - free 2 do what I wanna
Emancipation - see u in the purple rain
Emancipation - free 2 do what I wanna
Emancipation - break the chain, break the chain
Ever since that eve did unto adam, alright
What somebody been shonuff doin 2 me (watch it!)
Ive been tryin 2 break the chain
Get my little ass out the game
Id rather sing with a bit more harmony, oh
Chorus
Johnny please, huh, when I was on my knees
My back was broken and my spirit ill at ease
And now it seems just like the autumn leaves
Your moneys turned from green 2 brown and now u best believe
Chorus
(emancipation) {repeat in bg}
Break the chain, oh yeah
Well, shonuff
See u in the purple rain
Emancipation - free 2 do what I wanna
Break the.. break the.. break the chain!
Hey!
Alright!
Hey! {x4}
Emancipation
Free - dont think I aint!
Emancipation

Let My People Go!
Thank God a Southern triumph was not to be;
victory for the South was victory for slavery!
'We too fight for freedom, our Captain is God, '
but did you not know, all are created equal, by God?
Therefore be your brother white black red or yellow,
free your brother, cruel fields of slavery, must fall fallow!

Lines on A.B
Who was expected to attend a Banquet given by the Odd fellows
in London nearly thirty years ago. Several of the London Brethern
were asking for Brother Abel.
When we went down to London in midst of the champaign
A brother looked at me as though I had been Cain,
And in a voice of thunder, as I sat at the table,
He fiercely asked of me 'where is your Brother Abel?'
To which I did reply 'I'm not my brother's keeper,
But at home you'll find him, in his bed asleep, sir.'

Gone To Seed
“If you plant honesty, you’ll reap trust”
Aye, the seeds of doubt have been planted,
But such doubts are a must,
If wisdom’s to be granted…..
Seeds of valor, seeds of passion,
Seeds of equanimity;
Seeds that suit every fashion,
Of learning and acuity.
Leaders who sow such seeds of doubt,
Are welcome and accounted,
Than those who’d love to flaunt,
Are ones that are so vaunted.
Where honesty is a truthful story,
Tests one’s heart and mind;
Now enough’s been said of this allegory,
Dear readers: this truth you can find!

Nothing Like The Truth.
There is nothing like
The truth itself, millions
Of defending lies,
Can never hide the truth,
It comes out at it's own,
Even when it is hidden,
It does harm only
To the ones hiding it,
Life is a truth, but in mystery,
Which people seldom
Understand, like happiness
Easily forgotten,
Truth is easily hdden,
But it is there
All the time alive,
Only to be seen
For the seekers of truth.

Brother To Brother Hymn
Brother to brother
I know that I can always coun on you
Because you are my brther
And I am your brother also
Brother to brother
Your life is different than mine
You live in Brazil
I live in Canad a country that is more advanced in technology
Brother to brother
I will pray for you
Eventhough you don't believe in God
Brother to brother I will email you more frequently
Brother to brother I will sing you a song
Brother to brother I hope the saints will go to Sao paulo and watch you While you are sleeping

I am my Brother’s Keeper
Son of my mother
time of fear a friend
time of adversity a brother
time of laughter, a comrade
time of tears a comforter
you are a brother of mine
from Alpha to Omega.
Son of my Father
Strong arm, gentle word
Loves momentary glance
Reveals our brotherhood
I am my brother’s keeper
And he is mine
One root, One Father

Her Gratuity
She had been a versatile woman,
Having worked as a cook, a keeper,
A sweeper, a cahier, a store-keeper,
A washer woman, a gate-keeper,
A nurse, a waiter, and an escort.
All she did under one master,
Her husband, who bequeathed to her
The widowhood as gratuity.

Am I my fathers keeper?
He found redemption
danced with the devil
got lost in frustration
from the pain in his heart and
the fear that griped his soul
Am I my father’s keeper
A puff away from reality
Dreams up in smoke
Trading life for a toke
of sin
His new found friend
Am I my father’s keeper
I’m down on my knees
Praying for you
Your soul is on fire
And you don’t know what to do
Am I my father’s keeper
I ask him to take a step toward me
when the road is getting rough
I promise my love will be enough
Am I my father’s keeper
I tell him “you are blessed in courage”
Take this step for me
fight your way back towards reality
Am I my father’s keeper
Am I able to love him enough?

Unspoken truth
The truth hidden in me
Is the thing nobody can see.
I am acting as a treasure keeper,
Hiding it to be discovered.
Truth has its own fate
Reality is known by it.
After knowing the truth,
You will know what it worth.
Things seen by eye and heard by ear
Will not be believed and not to be care.
This is the only truth unspoken.
It’s thee truth of life,
Hide it to survive.
If anybodies knows
Please don’t let it to flow.
If shared than gone,
All will run towards the throne.
Beauty of life end there
When unspoken truth of life is know here.
