Yes, but I - you know, it's been such a long time, I'm sure that I've got cousins and uncles that I've never met before, you know, that I've left behind.

Kissin' Cousins

(words & music by giant - baum - kaye)
Cousins, kissin' cousins
Kissin's allowed 'cos we're proud to be cousins
What's a little teasin', huggin' and a-squeezin'
Between us cousins.
Oh it's so great to be one big family
And we show it, yes we show it
You see, we never feud, we're a happy brood
Folks all know it, yes they know it
Cousins, kissin' cousins
Honey we dress and we mess
We're just cousins,
Cousins, kissin' cousins
Cousins, kissin' cousins

Cantiga

LADY, for the love of God,
Have some pity upon me!
See my eyes, a river-flood
Day and night, oh, see!
Brothers, cousins, uncles, all,
Have I lost for thee;
If thou dost not me recall,
Woe is me!

Outburst Of Emotion

My emotion took outburst when I had spent few hours in my brother’s marriage ceremony hall.
You know, I prefer more to stay alone.
By the way, all (my cousins, my uncles, my nephews …..)
were compiling that special moment.
Some were gladdening to girt me as I met them after a long period at all.
But me, the same…..
My two lips were just the giver of charming cheap smile.
I was much comfortable sitting on a chair,
and I was not able to share.
Suddenly, a call!
I heard a call.
Babai…………(my nick name)
I was requested to take few shots.
My one of closest cousins said, “ Please take a shot, now we all are in company.”
He said, “Who does know? It would be same tomorrow….”
Yes, I did it.
I took so many snapshots.
I took that speech as simple.
But now, I can feel friends what it (the call) was…….
I can’t but embarrass with tears.
You know, I am bearing lot of pains.
Sometimes an inexpressible moment stains.
I also want to keep moments to be stabilized.
But what can I do? ? ?
Too many arrangements will have to be done……
So, I have to spend my life in a standing stale lodge (bearing such unforgettable moments)
I have to ….
I have to…...

The Idea of Ancestry

Taped to the wall of my cell are 47 pictures: 47 black
faces: my father, mother, grandmothers (1 dead), grand-
fathers (both dead), brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts,
cousins (1st and 2nd), nieces, and nephews. They stare
across the space at me sprawling on my bunk.I know
their dark eyes, they know mine.I know their style,
they know mine.I am all of them, they are all of me;
they are farmers, I am a thief, I am me, they are thee.

I have at one time or another been in love with my mother,
1 grandmother, 2 sisters, 2 aunts (1 went to the asylum),
and 5 cousins.I am now in love with a 7-yr-old niece
(she sends me letters in large block print, and
her picture is the only one that smiles at me).

I have the same name as 1 grandfather, 3 cousins, 3 nephews,
and 1 uncle. The uncle disappeared when he was 15, just took
off and caught a freight (they say). He's discussed each year
when the family has a reunion, he causes uneasiness in
the clan, he is an empty space. My father's mother, who is 93
and who keeps the Family Bible with everbody's birth dates
(and death dates) in it, always mentions him. There is no
place in her Bible for "whereabouts unknown."

I haven’t learnt.

I have understood of aunts and uncles.
I have understood of my cousins,
Nephews and nieces, brothers and sisters,
And my father and mother and at last
My son and daughter. Yet I haven’t learnt.
I love my grandsons and granddaughters.

Family Reunions

I read Bastiat at family reunions,
And I savour the irony.
Uncles and cousins fly across the Atlantic
And aunts and brothers drive from Cork
To talk about recipes and Roy Keane.
I merely go upstairs, close my door,
And study my God-given rights.

And my children, nephews and nieces guarded me
Against my pleasure that men could give me.

An Old Man With His Hat

There Little Robbie found him in an old yellow album
A blurred picture of a half old man with his hat
Standing in front of the coffin
He smiles shy but wide with his teeth gone making a hole like Little Robbie when he lose his baby teeth
Little Robbie doesn’t recognize him and he wonder where he is now
Maybe he is one of his grandfathers, one of his great uncles, one of his old families
So he asks to his big sister
But his sister doesn’t recognize him and she wonder who he is
Maybe he is one of his grandfathers, one of his great uncles, one of his old families
So he asks to his mother
But his mother doesn’t recognize him and she wonder how he was there
Maybe he is one of his grandfathers, one of his great uncles, one of his old families
So he asks to his father
But his father doesn’t recognize him and he wonder what he did there
Maybe he is one of his grandfathers, one of his great uncles, one of his old families
So he asks to his uncle
But his uncle doesn’t recognize him and he wonder when the picture taken
Maybe he is one of his grandfathers, one of his great uncles, one of his old families
So he asks hopelessly to his grandfather
His grandfather takes a deep look to that picture and wonders why Little Robbie asks
Little Robbie says, “I want to meet him! I want to know about him! I want to play with him! ”
Maybe he is one of his grandfathers, one of his great uncles, one of his old families
But his grandfather shakes his head, “No, he is not.”
He is not one of his grandfathers, one of his great uncles, one of his old families
He is just an old man with his hat
“He accompanied your great grandfather when he sick until his death. This picture is taken in a burial of your great grandfather.”
His grandfather stares at little Robbie
“Now, are you disappointed? ”
He is not one of his grandfathers, one of his great uncles, one of his old families
He is just an old man with his hat
Little Robbie shakes his head, “No, I am not.”
Though he is not one of his grandfathers, one of his great uncles, one of his old families
Though he is just an old man with his hat
“But I still want to meet him, I want to know about him, and I want to play with him! ”
And then he could be one of his grandfathers, one of his great uncles, one of his old families

Of Unused Space

I love your place.
You seem to have a lot,
Of unused space!
I wonder if...

'No!
Avoid any wondering.
Especially if you do it here.

You have your eyes on 'space'.
I have my mind on peace.
A peace I'm going to keep!
Just as it is felt.
Feel it?
Remember it.
And eliminate any wondering.'

I was just going to suggest...
Your renting out some of it.
And the expenses we could split!

'No!
Avoid any wondering.
Especially if you do it here.

You have your eyes on 'space'.
I have my mind on peace.
A peace I'm going to keep!
Just as it is felt.
Feel it?
Remember it.
And eliminate any wondering.

What you find here...
Is something I treasure AND endear.
It aint about money,
I most need and sometimes want.
This is about peace.
The peace that allows me to flaunt it...
Inside my mind.
And every headache others wish to find,
On the other side of these windows and doors?
I have long in my mind,
Left behind! '

But...?
You have...
THIS!

'And,
No time left...
To discuss any conflict,
You may have with it!
And developing on your manipulating lips.

You may sit and continue your visit,
Or go.'

But we are cousins.
Blood relatives.
First cousins,
In fact!

'And your point,
Is...
What? '

A Long Time Gone

Seems like forever and time left to spare
When I look out the window
And still youre not there
Youre a long time gone
Such a long time gone
Tearing down memories bitter and sweet
Smashing away til its all obsolete
Youre a long time gone, long time gone
Such a long time gone, long time gone
Youre a long time gone
Do I wonder why
Every day that i
Think about you still
And I always will
Did so much for me
Now I think I see
This I do believe
Feels more like a dream
Looked at the weeds in the broken concrete
Before the bulldozers waltzed in and killed the old street
Youre a long time gone, long time gone
Such a long time gone, long time gone
Door steps that shone in a bright summer sky
Lay shattered and wasted since our last goodbye
Youre a long time gone, long time gone
Such a long time gone, long time gone
Youre a long time gone
Do I wonder why
Every day that i
Think about you still
And I always will
Youre a long time gone
Did so much for me
Now I think I see
This I do believe
Feels more like a dream
Youre a long time gone
Do I wonder why
Youre a long time gone
You never did
I never said goodbye
Youre a long time gone

Never Is A Long Time

You build it up and tear it down, theres no reason to follow you. you left the song without a sound, you left the story I made for you. softly angels bow and cry in the stillness of the night.
Never is a long time - goodbye. no answers for the asking. its a long time - goodbye. no mercy for the aching. its a long time - oh I see no light on the forsaken. never is a long time - goodb
Ets spend the night when this dream has come to an end.
Sometimes you laugh, sometimes you cry, and yes, Ive cried over you. youve left me blind in paradise. youve left me hungering for the touch of you. snow white angels run and hide in the black
Of the night.
Never is a long time...

Who Is There Left to Remember?

WHO IS THERE LEFT TO REMEMBER?

Who is there left to remember?
My parents, my brother, all my aunts and uncles gone-
My sister in another world.

In our imagination and prayers
The sky opens and souls enter
Singing praise
Our loved ones are saved forever.

But on the ground
Where we are now
All that they have been-

Who is there left to remember
The lives the world we had?

I alone am left to remember
And I alone will never remember enough.

Its Been A Long Long Time

Its been a long time...
Since I held you tight.
Its been a long time...
Everyday in this fight.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
Since I've had a kiss.
Its been a long time...
You're pretty blue eyes I miss.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
This Iraqi tour.
Its been a long time...
I miss you so and more.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
Hot days with freezing nights.
Its been a long time...
Sunburned face, mosquito bites.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
Had a real bad day.
Its been a long time...
Lost some soldiers today.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
I suffer everyday.
Its been a long time...
For me to be away.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
For me to be alone.
Its been a long time...
No talking on the telephone.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
Since you heard me say...
Baby, my sweet darling...
I'm leaving Iraq today!

And I like my Mother!

And I pray God
You'll let my Mother live a thousand years
So I don't have to get a job or do anything

Long Time Coming

Long time coming
But no one seen it coming
Long gone then
And your heart is still running
Now you're thinking bout the times
And the things you should've done
Well you might as well forget it
In the end you have won
Long-gone letters
Well it makes you feel better
Now you spend your days calm
But you spend the night shattered
It's a long time now
To be left in no doubt
It's a long time change
Do you still feel the same?
And you just can't shake that mood
Cause she's poisoned all your food
Now you're bogged down in those blues
And you just can't shake them loose
It's a long time coming
It's a long time now
To be left in no doubt
It's a long time change
Do you still feel the same?
Long time coming
