I think the only boundaries are individual and personal. A writer should be free to write about anything he or she wants to, including the twin towers. I have made small references to 9/11 in my past two books.

'Made it as a writer'? I'm still wondering if I've made it as a writer. I've made it as a published writer of the type of SF that I want to write and read, but I'm still waiting for that big breakthrough.

Paperback Writer

(LennonMcCartney)
Paperback writer
Dear Sir or Madam, will you read my book?
It took me years to write, will you take a look?
It's based on a novel by a man named Lear
And I need a job, so I want to be a paperback writer
Paperback writer
It's the dirty story of a dirty man
And his clinging wife doesn't understand
His son is working for the Daily Mail
It's a steady job but he wants to be a paperback writer
Paperback writer
Paperback writer
It's a thousand pages, give or take a few
I'll be writing more in a week or two
I can make it longer if you like the style
I can change it round and I want to be a paperback writer

If you really like it you can have the rights
It could make a million for you overnight
If you must return it, you can send it here
But I need a break and I want to be a paperback writer

Pantun - Twin Towers Kuala Lumpur

KL Twin Towers mencakar langit minda
rakyat dan negara bersepadu
tegak, cerah, lurus, berwibawa
mencapai matlamat dengan laju

Twin Towers touches the sky of our mind

strong, bright, straight and credible
working towards a vision with speed

To be a writer

They say, when you have nothing to say
Do not say anything
They say when you have nothing good to say
Do not say anything
He is not convinced
He wants to be a writer and to be one he must write
What is in his mind
To be a writer he must write and write and write
Even when there is nothing to write
Even when there is nothing to say even when nobody listens
Even when the word is dead even when there is no sense at all
Even when he gets blind and deaf and mute even when his fingers are cut even when his mind is blank even when his consciousness is lost
Even when you are angry even when you say what is written is nothing
But trash, dung, cadaver, corpse, poo, pee, even when there is nothing
Anymore,
He writes because he is a writer and no one can stop him now.
he is
he is writing
he is writing always
he is writing always whatever that needs to be written

and here you are foolishly reading. thanks to you, audience of one.

We have lost that which has made us great over the generations, and that is the sense of individual and personal responsibility that we can come up, we can pursue our dreams and our aspirations and we won't be blocked by government regulation, by the inability to get a loan as a small business to make our dreams come true.

Wıshes of Freedom

Caged in the small jail
Of my body
I live,
And
Call myself
“Free spirit”.

Bound by the chains
Of rules
Set by a few of us
We act,
And
Call ourselves
“Independent”.

Tied by the ropes of
Society
Like a herd of sheep
We follow each
Blindly behind another
And call ourselves
“Pioneers”.

Jailed in small
Cabins of regulations
We kill for lust and greed
And call ourselves
“Martyrs”

Captured in small guarded boundaries
Of earth
We breathe
And
Call ourselves
“Free countries”.

Mounting the horse
Of my winged thoughts
I often wish
To break the jails
Loosen the ropes
Fly out
Beyond the reach
Of the vast sky.

I often wish,
If we could be
More real,
True pioneers and martyrs.
For then,
Freedom won’t mean
Small boundaries
Of guarded earth.
Will have
The whole of it
To roam about.

But,
Soon as the gallop stops
I am back in my jail
My wishes of freedom
A cry so frail.
And
Caged in the small jail
Of my body
I live,
And continue
Calling myself
“Free spirit”.

Man's Inhumanity

We have read about New York's Twin Towers and Hiroshima in Japan
Just for us two examples of man's inhumanity to man
And of Hitler and his Holocaust one who lives on in illfame
And of Stalin and of Mao and their awful crimes of shame.

We've heard of Pol Pot in Cambodia millions did suffer when he did rule
Some with power at their disposal they can be so very cruel
But in truth they were no different to some of the rulers of today
Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe as a despot now leads the way.

Streets in some Cities honour Oliver Cromwell yet if we go back in time
Against poor Catholic Irish peasants he committed many a crime
But 'tis said the winners write the war history with that one must agree
And Cromwell he is honoured for his crimes against humanity.

Idi Amin of Uganda of old age in exile died
The unmarked graves of his Homeland his shame forever hide
And up to a million Tutsis in Rwanda by their fellow Rwandans butchered to death
And this only in the recent past history repeats itself lest we forget.

We have not learned from history or so 'twould seem that way
So many despotic leaders in the World of today
And the Twin Towers of New York and Hiroshima in Japan
Are only two examples of man's inhumanity to man.

A Bad Day In September

People woke up on a September day
Not knowing what price they would pay
The Twin Towers stood so tall
Who ever knew they would fall
Reaching high, up to the sky
People lived and people died
There was smoke, people screaming
What the heck, was I dreaming?
Planes hit the towers
In the early morning dawn
Everyone knew something was wrong
Chaos, confusion, aghast, looks of fright
Running screaming terror in sight
Where were you on the day?
Where you there?
Did you stop and stare?
Stare in shock?
Stare and scream?
People were fighting to get free
Families calling on the phone
Hoping to hear “I’ll be home”
Instead they heard
“I love you and goodbye”
Give my kids a kiss
And tell them they will be missed
Once twin towers
Now ground zero
We’d like to say
“Your our hero”
To all the hero’s
How brave you are
Risking your life
For one for all
We want to say
Thank you god bless!
You’re the best
People woke up on that September day
Not knowing what price they would pay
Our lives are forever changed
But are faith and freedom
Will stay the same

Writer

I'm the writer got a front page cover
Hot gossip 'bout who's with their latest lover
I write all chapters by the second scene
I call the shots, don't need a fleet street team
I am a writer and i'm the news
You cross me you know you're gonna lose
I'll do the story if you're dead or alive
If seconds out or if you're gonna take a dive
Slip out the news or a piece of scandal
Don't toe the line, 'cause nothing's too hot to handle
I am the writer and i'm the news
If you cross me you know you're gonna lose
Yeah you're gonna lose
[instrumental]
I am a writer and i am the news
If you cross me you know you're gonna lose
And where you are it's because of me
'cause overnight you know it don't come free
I'll put you up there or i'll bring you down
'cause nothing moves without me in this town
I am a writer and i am the news
If you cross me you know you're gonna lose
Boy you're gonna lose i said you're gonna lose
I write the news i am the news
Got to, got to lose
Oh yeah you're gonna lose
So don't step on my blue suede shoes...

Alone isn't forever

Once upon a time.

There was girl all alone.

She ordered everything by phone.

All of her potted rose bushes stood in a perfect line.

In the middle of her living room grew a big fury pine.

She trembled everytime she opened the door.

She was not scared to be poor.

She was a writer afraid to explore.

Her books and keyboard were an escape.

Even so the stars still reminded her of hope.

Her books look like wall paper that surounded the room.

The dust has no time to scatter any gloom.

All the windows show off the sun light.

The candle is only used at night.

She typed at the keys until her hands went numb.

She could not write a single line.

A larger fear was beginning to form in her mind.

Her work without experience was blind.

She decided the voice of fear was dumb.

Small steps took her out to the mail box.

Out of the forest peered glowing eyes which made her scream.

Her fear went away after seeing it was just a fox.

Another day brought an email from a friend.

His family needed help on the Island.

A big storm blew their house away.

She bought a ticket and sailed on that day.

She helped them build a Victorian house yay.

She is becoming an amazing writer.

She is now able to brave any adventure.

The end.

Break free

Will I break free from my past?

Or will I let the chains tie me down?

For I have been confided in a small room for hours trying to break free from this obstacle.

My mind is stuck, but my heart is trying to break free.

The bars are too small and I cannot break through to the other side.

For the other side is where I want to be.

Where I can be free from my past and not be weighed down by negativity.

But now I realize I can slowly break free by saying this statement: I am beautiful just the way I am and don't need to change for anyone.

Magic writer

Am the writer who going to write about the truth
Am the writer who going to write about the things you went throw
Am going to take all the pain out of you
And make magic to it and make it go away
Am the magic writer
I was born in the magic city
Where every one was smiling and happy
Where every kid had their own magical talent
I had the talent to write about people’s pain
And I could take it away
Because am the magic writer

I don't write down my experiences, but I have a very decent memory. I have tons of books in which I write down phrases as they occur to me. That's how I write songs. I'll need a line and I'll go through the books and find it, the right rhyme and everything.

A matter of opinion.

Some people say I am perverse
because I choose to write in verse.
The kind of stories I compose.
They think I ought to write in prose.

They have the right to I suppose.
But I won’t do as they propose.
I much prefer to write in verse
Because I think there’s nothing worse

Than badly written boring prose.
That is the reason why I chose.
To concentrate on rhyming verse.
I see no reason to reverse.

My original decision
to conform to your opinion.
I do not choose to write in prose
I am convinced that I would lose.

My rhyming capability
reducing my ability.
To write my words spontaneously.
I don’t expect you to agree.

Although I am compelled to write.
You’re free to exercise your right
To read or not as you choose to.
Though I confess I hope you do.

I know I can’t please everyone.
That is something that can’t be done
By any writer though they try
A truth no writer can deny.

Your comments are of interest
they spur me on to do my best.
We can agree to disagree
on which is best quite easily.

A poet must choose poetry.
But other writers are quite free.
to share their thoughts written in prose
Because they choose to I suppose.

If you should doubt my competence.
I will not choose to take offence.
You are entitled to your view
Please remember I am too

The Writer's Ink

I am the writer's ink,
So just write with me without any fear;
I will move more than expected,
I will write more than expected,
I am the writer's ink.
Use me slowly or even faster,
I will talk more than expected;
I do have the message to teach everyone.
Of the beauty of communication,
I am used by everyone;
I am the writer's ink,
I do make people sad or glad;
My ink makes rulers sad,
My ink makes personalities sad,
My ink makes the common man sad,
The way i am used matters.
I am the writer's ink,
I am not expensive;
Buy me and use me always.
How can a country like Ghana be poor? !
Ghana has gold, oil, cocoa and timber;
There are also diamond, bauxite and other minerals;
How then can Ghana be poor? !
The writer's ink should tell us more.
Mismanagement is the food in the country,
Ghana has really more than it needs;
This country shouldn't be poor.
What the leaders say on air is not,
What we see on the ground;
I am the talkative ready to talk.
I am the writer's ink,
I will always speak the truth!

Writing Poetry

Some people write poetry
to fulfil their dream,
others write it as a personal diary.
While yet more write to protest.
Some write sonnets
for unfrequented love.
Some bring laughter
to sad faces somewhere,
while others dwell on memories
that they would like to share.
Some write of love, while
others write of God.
Write as you will on anything,
but the main point is that you write,
and give joy to all that will read.
