Memphis
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
I got to get away, study my geography
Im just a shadow of the boy I used to be
I used to see the light, now its all a mystery
I used to feel the beat, now I feel a million miles from...
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
I used dirty words never too excessively
But saying rock&roll never seemed so bad to me
I dare said it in hip and happy company
I was in and out in a second on my way to...
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
Memphis, so where the hell is memphis?
I had a one-way ticket and a little radio
I turned it on, heard the sound from twenty years ago
Somebody smiled and said, thats the only way to go
He died at twenty-one, now nobodys innocent in...
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
Somebody turned around, said, I got to disagree
He wrote that sort of turn people out to anarchy
He made them think about marlon brando on tv
I guess they still went down against anything they got in...
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
I met a wise old man, he had longer hair than me
He said, memphis is nothing like it used to be
A hundred dead guitarists lying in the cemetry
I felt a sudden chill, now Im not so sure about...
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
Memphis - where the hell is memphis?
Im on a lonesome train on a lonesome track
I think Ill jump right off, head for home, double back
And though Im better now I know that no-one knows the facts
Im gonna start again, forget I ever heard about...

Big Train
John fogerty
When i was young, i spent my summer days
Playin' on the track.
The sound of the wheels rollin' on the steel
Took me out, took me back.
Big train from memphis,
Big train from memphis,
Now it's gone gone gone, gone gone gone.
Like no one before, he let out a roar,
And i just had to tag along.
Each night i went to bed with the sound in my head,
And the dream was a song.
Big train from memphis,
Big train from memphis,
Now it's gone gone gone, gone gone gone.
Well i've rode 'em in and back out again
You know what they say about trains;
But i'm tellin' you when that memphis train came through,
This ol' world was not the same.
Big train from memphis,
Big train from memphis,
Now it's gone gone gone, gone gone gone.

If you develop an ear for sounds that are musical it is like developing an ego. You begin to refuse sounds that are not musical and that way cut yourself off from a good deal of experience.
Meet Me In Memphis
By: jimmy buffet, michael utley
1986
Hes holed up down on ramrod key in the tavenier hotel
Livin out his loneliness like an oyster in a shell
By days he pulls the trap line
By night he lives alone
Dont really feel like company its just him and his fridge and his phone
Chorus:
Meet me in memphis (meet me in memphis)
Thats where Ill be (thats where Ill be)
Im by the river (oooh oooh) please come back to me
Meet me in memphis (meet me in memphis)
My wild days are through
And nothin replaces (oooh oooh) me next to you
Hes been there since she ran away
She said she needs some space
Occasionally she still calls collect
From some God forsaken place
Then one day a letter came
Postmarked tennessee
And the envelope scent
And the postage spent
Well it lit up her old memory
Chorus:
Meet me in memphis (meet me in memphis)
Thats what she said (thats what she said)
Too much for a letter (oooh oooh) please come here instead
Meet me in memphis (meet me in memphis)
My wild days are through
Still nothing replaces (oooh oooh) me next to you
(horn instrumental)
(meet me in memphis)
I know she could break my heart again
But Im gonna play and Im gonna win
Where otis would play
Da da da dock of the bay
Meet me in memphis (meet me in memphis)
Thats where Ill be (thats where Ill be)
Im by the river (oooh oooh) youre by the sea
Oh please, meet me in memphis (meet me in memphis)
My wild days are through
Still nothing replaces (oooh oooh) me next to you

I'd been to Memphis before, but we stayed out of Memphis early on in the late 70s for obvious reasons. People were very sensitive about Elvis Presley, and my stage name obviously would be provocative to some people in that area at that time.

So, through all that early professional career I would occasionally do a musical, a pantomime or a play with songs. The next stop would be a Shakespeare, or an Ibsen, or a play by a brand new writer who had never done anything in the theater before.

Walking In Memphis
Put on my blue suede shoes
And I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the pouring rain
W.C. Handy - won't you look down over me
Cause I got a first-class ticket
And I'm as blue as a boy can be
Walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel
Saw the ghost of Elvis
Down On Union Avenue
Followed him up to the gates of Graceland
I watched him walk right through
Now security they did not see him
They just hovered 'round his tomb
There's a pretty little thing
Waiting on "The King"
Down in the Jungle Room
Walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
Do I really feel the way I feel
They've got catfish on the table
They've got gospel in the air
And Reverend Green be glad to see you
When you haven't got a prayer
You've got a prayer in Memphis
Now Muriel plays the piano
Every Friday at the Hollywood
And they brought me down to see her
And they asked me if I would
Do a little number
And I sang with all my might
She said
"Tell me are you a Christain"
I said "Ma'am I am tonight"
Walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel
Walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel
Walking in Memphis

Move To Mamphis
(pal waaktaar/magne furuholmen)
Walked around no one around
You were the one who taught me better
This old town brings me down
You were the one who told me you've got to
Move to memphis
That's what i'll do
Move to memphis and follow you
Trace that highway down to your doorway
Move tho memphis and be with you
On the day you walked away
I was the one who said
You'd better stick around stay in town
You were the one who told me you've got to
Move to memphis
That's what i'll do
Chase the shadow that follows you
Trace that highway down to your doorway
Move to memphis and be with you
That's what i'll do
Move to memphis to be with you
I'm gonna be with you

Alphabetic Inspiration
When all else fails
The Economists look to
The alphabets for inspiration
Will the economic recovery be V shaped?
Yes indeed, say the very optimistic
With the stimulus package
There is only one way
That world economy can go and it is up
Not really, say the less convinced
It will probably be U shaped
The down-turn will stay for sometime
Before it slowly climbs up once more
Then come the zigzag theorists
The shape is more likely to be a W they cry
The economy having gone down
Will first go up and then down again
Before moving up with more confidence
Last but not least, are the die-hard pessimists
They believe that the mother of all depressions
Will not end in a hurry and have forecast an L shape
Meaning that, having gone down
The economy will stabilise at the current bottom
Given that the theories have so far
Centred around only four
Of the twenty-six alphabets
There is still plenty of scope for further
Alphabetic inspiration.

Memphis Soul Song
Lookin' back on everything
And all the things that stay
I can count on memories
Cuz they don't go away
Good times were hard to hold
Until she came along
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
I'm not always there I know
But she don't mind at all
As pretty as a picture that hangs on my own wall
She's like Mississippi
When the sun comes up at dawn
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
With an angel on my lefty side and the devil on my right
She's the one who saves me from them dark unholy nights
Of all the ones who've left me it's a wonder she's not gone
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
She don't care what the game is
She's always down to play
My world without her seems a million miles away
She don't have to worry
I know where I belong
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
I've been dealt some aces
And I've played them all the same
But she's the only one that keeps me in the game
No fame or fortune could ever keep me gone
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
With an angel on my lefty side and the devil on my right
She's the one who saves me from them dark unholy nights
Of all the ones who've left me it's a wonder she's not gone
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
[BRIDGE]
There's a magic down in Memphis
That never seems to fade
Even now them voices carry
Like a lonely serenade
It's the memories that still and always will be on my mind
They move me every time
She see's the good in everything there is to see
Sometimes I wonder what she ever see's in me
I'm not always right you know
But she's never led me wrong
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
In all my travels I've never found a way
To find the words that say the things I'd like to say
I've sang some melodies but she's my favorite one
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
With an angel on my lefty side and the devil on my right
She's the one who saves me from them dark unholy nights
Of all the ones who've left me it's a wonder she's not gone
She moves me like a Memphis soul song
She moves me like a Memphis soul song

We incorporate various electronic devices - the echo plugs and things like that. Actually, all we're trying to do is make that sound musical. As opposed to just making sounds, we do musical things with them.

And my cousin miranda shes making a blueberry pie
I can see the clock outside a ticking and a tocking
Everything so peaceful and dandy
I can see my grandmama cross the street still a rocking
Watching all the neighbours go by oh my

Sweet oleander blowing perfume in the air everywhere
Up jumps the moon to make it so much grander
Its paradise honey take my advice honey

Her love is my inspiration
Her love is my inspiration
Love is the inspiration for my heart to sing a tune,
love is the inspiration for my ear to hear,
love is the inspiration for my soul to warm,
love is the inspiration for my mouth to smile,
love is the inspiration for my eyes to glisten.
Love is the inspiration to draw my soul near another
love is the inspiration for my mouth to utter sweet words,
love is the inspiration for my eyes to gaze upon her,
love is the inspiration for my heart to speak out.
Love is the inspiration for need, love is the inspiration for my mouth to touch hers,
love is the inspiration for my eyes to close,
love is the inspiration for my heart to race,
love is the inspiration for my tears to burn.
Love is the inspiration for longing,
love is the inspiration for my eyes to see only her,
love is the inspiration for my heart to cry out,
love is the inspiration for my ear to hear her whispers,
love is the inspiration for my soul to join hers forever.
Love is the inspiration for forever,
love is the inspiration for my heart to be whole,
love is the inspiration for my ear to always hear those words,
love is the inspiration for my soul to have hers,
love is the inpiration for my mouth to speak the truth.
Love is the inspiration for my soul to seek life
love is the inspirationfor my ear to hear her words,
love is the inspiration for my soul to reach for her,
love is the inspiration for my mouth to speak her truths,
love is the inspiration for my eyes to always look upon her first,
For she is the inspiration for my Love.

Memphis Time
(scott johnson, jesse valenzuela)
Hey, now its all right
Hey now, its fine, its cool
Seems weve done our worst
Its time to head for school
And so we tripped upstairs
I seen the sun come up
Judging by your shape
I think youve had enough
Its memphis time
Just string that old guitar
Tune it up to memphis time
Hey, now I couldnt know
Baby, I couldnt tell
Just whats going on
Inside of someone else
You know that this small world
Sometimes this big town
It can drag you up
As well as drag you down
Its memphis time
Just string that old guitar
Tune it up to memphis
You cant say that Ive been right
I cant say that youve been wrong
We knew it all along
(take cover scotty)
So we tripped upstairs
I seen the sun come up
Judging by your shape
I think youve enough
Its memphis time
Just string that old guitar
And tune it up to memphis time...

Sweet Inspiration
Lyrics and music by dan penn and spooner oldham
I need your sweet inspiration
I need you here on my mind
Every hour of the day
Without your sweet inspiration
The lonely hours of the night
Just dont go my way
A woman in love
Needs sweet inspiration
Yeah, and honey thats all I ask, thats all I ask from you
Ive gotta have your sweet inspiration
You know there just aint no tellin what a satisfied woman might do
The way you call me baby, baby
Is such a sweet inspiration
The way you call me darlin, darlin
Sets my heart to skating
And if Im out in the rain, baby
And in a bad situation
You know I just reach back in my mind
And there I find your sweet, sweet inspiration
Sweet inspiration
Oh, what a power
And Ive got the power
Every hour of the day
I need your inspiration
To go on, to go on living
To keep on giving this way
I need your sweet inspiration
Sweet inspiration, sweet inspiration, sweet inspiration
Sweet, sweet inspiration
Sweet, sweet inspiration
I need, sweet inspiration

Musical Instruments To Produce Love
Cymbal for Zambia
Zambia for Cymbal
Zambia cymbal music
Harps to produce musical sounds
Tambourines to produce musical dances
Dances for Serbia Ladies
Samba shake body make bottom dazzle our eyes for laughter
I did not have shoes, i complained crying profusely until i saw a man without legs, i have legs and i can dance
Love sparkles beauty
Beauty sparkles dance
Dance for all is fun
Cymbal for Zambia
Zambia for cymbal
Zambia cymbal music
Harps to produce musical sounds
Tambourines to produce musical dances, we are dancing
Babies Bobos want to dance, dance away your sorrows until day - break
We are dancing
Musical instruments produce melodious sound for love flow, caresses and kisses
Dance away your sorrows
We are dancing
