Of these years nought remains in memory but the sad feeling that we have advanced and only grown older.

The Feeling That We Have
(charlie smalls)
Put your arms around me child
Like when you bumped your shin
Then youll know I love you now
As I loved you then
Though you maybe trying sometimes
And Ill need you
And youre not there
You know I may get mad
And turn away
But you know that I still care
But you cannot ask for more
Than can come from me
I am older than you are
And one day youll see
If I lose my patience with you
And I suddenly start to scream
Its only because I just want you to be
Everything that I see in my dreams
And Id like to know its there
The feeling that we have
When you know that you can come
Running to me
Whenever times are bad
Dont lose the feeling that we have
Dont lose the feeling that we have
Though you are growing older now
And Im watching you grow
I know I make you sad sometimes
And I see your feeling show
But one day Ill look around
And you will be grown
Youll be out in the world
Such a pretty girl
Youll be on your own
And Id like to know its there
The feeling that we have
Knowing that you can come to me
Whenever you are sad
And Id like to know its there
The feeling that we have
Dont lose the feeling that we have
Dont lose the feeling that we have
Dont lose the feeling that we have

You, Forever Young
I have grown old
since you have gone
but in my mind you're young.
You left too soon
and I still here,
uncommited to death I clung
to a life without you near.
How would you look
as an older man?
I try to picture you best I can.
I see you as before
not old and gray as I.
I do not wish that vision to change
ever before I die.
For to me thou art
my youthful lover still.
My body yet remembers
a not forgotten thrill.
I have grown old
since you have gone.
In my memory you never will.

Days Go By
Days go by
Years go by
We wonder where we are-
We are where we were years ago
Only older and less capable of believing our dreams will come true-
We are where we were
And yet somehow
If we look on the other side
We are not-
There are dreams that have come true-
There are children that have grown
And new lives that have begun-
Dreams have come true
And we are not only just older-
But days have gone by
And years have gone by
And we are where we are
In wonder in doubt in worry in hope
Of what this day will bring
Though it be only one of many
Already lived and yet to be forgotten.

The Filling That We Have
Written & composed: charlie smalls

Put your arms around me child,
Like when you bumped your shin;
Then youll know I love you now,
As I loved you then
Though you may be trying sometimes,
And Ill need you and youre not there;
You know I may get mad and turn away,
But you know that I still care
But you cannot ask for me,
Than can come from me;
I am older than you are,
And one day youll see
If I lose my patience with you,
And I suddenly start to scream;
Its only because I just want you to be
Everything I see in my dreams
Chorus :
And Id like to know its there,
The feeling that we have,
When you know that you can come running to me,
Whenever times are bad
Dont lose the feeling that we have
Dont lose the feeling that we have
Though youre growing older now,
And Im watching you grow;
I know I make you sad sometimes,
And I see your feelings show.
But one day Ill look around,
And you will be grown;
Youll be out in the world,
Such a pretty girl,
But youll be on your own
Chorus :
And Id like to know its there,
The feeling that we have;
Knowing that you can come to me
Whenever you are sad
Child, Id like to know its there,
The feel that we have-
Dont lose the feeling that we have.
Dont lose the feeling that we have

Beware! Grown Up Children!
Children need parental love,
Children utilise parental services,
Children get life with parental guidance,
Children want parental money and property;
As children grow and earn on their own,
Parents get older and senior in their turn,
Parents getting older and lose their memory,
asks many doubts and queries everyday;
Grown up children are not patient
nowadays for every parental query,
They care for their own children only
and blow up their parents to old-age homes!
The history will repeat,
Beware! Grown up children! !

What'll I. Do?
The years going quick, my mind is playing tricks,
My body is reeking in pain, oops, I just did the splits;
Where's the balance now I'm getting older,
But isn't it great, the older we get, we get more bolder.
Oh what'll I do, I ask! Yep, What'll I do?
As the years progress faster, time is my master,
Bearing down on me, to me time is a pester;
Then memory lane to me, is disappearing,
And the grey hairs are quickly appearing;
Oh dear, What am I to do, what am I to do.
Those friends I knew from years ago,
Gradually go away, to a place so free; it's true;
And the shopping and housework that has to be done,
Seems I'm not finished till the setting of sun;
Oh. What'll I do, yep, what'll I do.

Breathe to me inspiration fresh
Breathe to me inspiration fresh, upon the crest of emotions waves.
I remember still the day we left the school we called our own.
Know we are grown, now we are grown. at least by the standards of the years of uniform conformity, and still throughout the grey you shone a boundless beauty breathtaking.
I would never fake my moods for you as I would hope you would do the same for me.
Let us see through the days together, shedding tears for the by gone fears of yesteryear.
I remember you crying, holding on to the form of a friend of yours I never knew.
I remember trying to build the courage to comfort you but always feeling I was un worthy of
Your cries upon my shoulder. Now we are older and wiser we hope.

Getting Older
it's nine o'clock
i'm getting tired
i'm sick of all my records
and the clothes i bought today
am i cracking up
or just getting older?
staying in
i can't be bothered
making conversation
with the friends that i don't know
am i cracking up
or just getting older?
and i bet that this is how life
turns out when you're finally grown
and you know if this my life
sit around all day on my own
i'm halfway up to the bottom
of another bottle
of my next best favourite friend
am i cracking up
or just getting older?
you're not cracking up
you're just getting older
we're not cracking up
we're just getting older

Were not cracking up
Were just getting older

Your Children Are Always Your Children
In your eye’s the child
never ends,
nor should it
Oh the limbs grow,
the body matures to adulthood
But in your eye’s and heart
the child remains
The laughter though a deeper tone
Still holds that
joyous golden ring
of Christmas presents
or a birthday game
The hair now full and Silky
Still holds the urge
to touch and stroke
The smile though older
still makes the heart leap
The body may be
tall and lithe and grown
But in your eyes the outline
of the child is still seen
Though they are grown and flown
Never does a day pass
without the same worry
how are they, where are they
though they may be grown
In your eyes the child never ends nor should it

Under a sky of uncreated mud
Under a sky of uncreated mud
or sunk beneath the accursed streets, my life
is added up of cupboard-musty weeks
and ring'd about with walls of ugliness:
some narrow world of ever-streaming air.
My days of azure have forgotten me.
Nought stirs, in garret-chambers of my brain,
except the squirming brood of miseries
older than memory, while, far out of sight
behind the dun blind of the rain, my dreams
of sun on leaves and waters drip thro' years
nor stir the slumbers of some sullen well,
beneath whose corpse-fed weeds I too shall sink.

Years We Wished Away
Sometimes we’d like to go back,
reclaim the years we wished away.
Reflecting on the fun,
we could have enjoyed
instead of trying to be
older than what we were.
Reclaim the years that were lost
to crazy wishes that we had,
thinking it was better to be
older than what we were.
Instead of enjoying our childhood
and the games, they play.
Now as we grow older
and our youth is what we grasp.
We wish that we were younger
in the cradle of our childhood
and all those precious times
in the years, we wished away.

The Ruler Knows Us
You are three years older than Emmanuel,
And you are three years and eight months older than i am;
But Emmanuel is eight months older than i am.
This is like the game of ages around us,
But the Ruler knows us all;
And He knows when someone is born and when someone will die,
For this all about His works on this earth.

Memory (Thy Shall)
Thy shall not slumber,
Thy shall not wake,
A memory so fragile,
So delicate it may break.
A memory so lost,
So unwanted it tears apart,
Until it dies,
It shall go back to thy start.
A powerful memory it may be,
Or a memory that shall be overlooked,
Thy one shall let it see,
How thy memory is like a book.
But how powerful thy memory is,
It has to be stronger than a good memory,
A memory that has passion and feeling,
A memory that has greatness and becoming myself, I, and me.
Until that kind of memory is shown,
Thy memory shall be looked upon near and far,
Thy memory shall be kept hidden,
Until it shall be who we are.
Thy shall not slumber,
Thy shall not wake,
A memory so fragile,
so delicate it may break.

The Memory Of The Kiss! ! !
This was the memory.
The memory kissed had played with the heart.
The memory kissed through fast the heartbeat.
The memory kissed made thoughts simply played with the feeling.
The kiss was the feeling of coming tempted promised heaven.
The feeling kiss appreciated each other.
The feeling kiss loved each other.
The feeling kiss gave each other.
It was the kiss through perfection.
The memory kissed had brought the wound.
The memory kissed came with yearning.
The memory kissed flirted.
A kiss not only played with the lips.
Because the kiss was destiny.
Because the kiss was to fill up the world was full of the colour.
This the kiss was the nature song.
This the kiss accompanied the prayer.
This the kiss accompanied the love.
And more significant the kiss always brought yearning.
The memory of the kiss had felt.
Shared the love shared yearning.
The memory kissed still was felt on the perfect lips through perfection.

Sad am I so sad to hear
About the death of Mary O's daughter Peggy O Deere
From her old Hometown many miles away
Her remains in Dublin lay.
I knew her since I was a Primary school going boy
She was five or six years older than I
She was one I used to meet
On the road west of Millstreet.
Cycling to and from the Millstreet convent years ago
She always smiled and said hello,
Always in a happy mood
Never knew her to be sour or rude.
A beautiful teenager with shoulder length dark hair
Always happy and free of care
In my memory she did not age or gray
And I still see her as young today
In Claraghatlea by Clara hill
Memories of her living still
Always smiling and free of care
And people like her far too rare.
Sad am I so sad to hear
Of the death of Peggy O Deere
The lovely girl I used to know
In my school days years ago.

Finding A Better Way
So many disappointments that I have from day to day
If I could make a change - I'd find a better way.
I would have made my dreams -long before my teens
Then I would have known what to do
And I would follow through.
But my dreams came in my older years
And that is when you have doubts and fears.
They say with age you build confidence.
That is not always true.
As you get older you don't know what to do.
This is the age of computers - and technology
Is reaching heights
You don't know who to turn to
Or how to even fight.
I know that education is so much more advanced
So put your mind to it
You may not get another chance.
Set that goal in your mind
Don't let that dream fall behind
Don't stop yourself before you've even begun
You can do it - you're the only one.
Visualize that dream in your mind
Then it won't be so hard to find.
Like a baby - you must first learn to crawl
Then walk, then run, and you will see
That it will come.
So many dreams have been left
On the wayside road of life
That when they recall
They have to struggle and fight.

Same Old Song
And the band starts playing
The same old song again
The monks start praying
To the same God again
But He has grown,
He's grown tired
Maybe its time
That he retired
He's grown selfish,
He's grown Greedy
Bless the homeless
And the needy
And the band start playing
The same old song again
The old are still aging
Its new years eve again
But they've grown stupid,
They've grown lazy
They've grown senile,
and gone crazy
They've grown new cancers,
And suffer old ulcers
There are new medicines,
which might be the answer
And the band start playing
The same old song again
And here I am sitting
Back in that same chair again
You were cold,
and you were hearltless
Still you insist
that you are faultless
You are selfish
and you were cruel
How long must you torture
this young fool
And the band start playing
The same old song again
And when it ends
I press rewind again
I am drunk, and feel so sleepy
And in this room I'm feeling creepy
Maybe we sat here too long
Maybe I should stop listening
To our Old Song

I've
I've,
Memories to keep.
I've,
Lived life for reasons.
I've,
Sowed what I've reaped.
And I've,
Spent time in seeking.
With a little bit of pity,
And a lot of self defeating.
I've,
Done plenty weeping.
I've,
Had little sleep.
But today I know when troubles come,
I'm not alone to be on my own!
I've grown a lot older!
I've,
Memories to keep.
I've,
Lived life for reasons.
I've,
Sowed what I've reaped.
And I've,
Spent time in seeking.
But today I know when troubles come,
I'm not alone to be on my own!
I've grown a lot older!
And today I know when troubles come,
I'm not alone to be on my own!
I've grown a lot older!
And today I know when troubles come,
I'm not alone to be on my own!
