Beyond the formative effects of reading on the individuals composing society, the fact that they have read the same books gives them experiences and ideas in common. These constitute a kind of shorthand of ideas which helps make communication quicker and more efficient. That is what we mean when we say figuratively of another person, We speak the same language.

There are people who must spend huge amounts of time composing these online diatribes against me, all about how disgusting and terrible I am and how no one should ever read my books, and it's not enough for them to hate me, they can't stand the fact that ANYONE likes me!

These groups within a society can he distinguished according as to whether, like an army or an orchestra, they function as a single body; or whether they are united merely to defend their common interests and otherwise function as separate individuals.

In Hell
You live by the book of wonders,
The book has hell on it when opened.
The inferno carries pits too grilling,
The grills are offered by devils,
Contagious diseases are handed over
To the body and bones, full of hatred.
A hell of books is opened by the librarian,
You choose a simple verb to read,
Then this verb is read, the verb that signals death.
Your death must never come by reading books,
Long scrolls so wonderful,
Of books the world is made
And the reason for books is reading,
Not living in Hell.

Honest Thoughts (Continued)
if you give an honest,
hard working, uneducated man
access to books and ideas, a
deep desire to learn,
and time to honestly evaluate
his own life experiences...
and then you take away his rights,
his work, and his dream for his
family...
this man will stand up and turn
your world upside down.
never underestimate the power
of the common man and woman!

On Books
Books are my first love, I’m so proud to read;
They give me knowledge and help life to lead;
Hours, days just pass by, by reading life-time;
Life would not be worth, if not for my rhyme.
Great are those people who write books all life;
Burning just candles, with Goose-quills in strife;
Tired of writing though day-long or night,
They keep on writing in such a bad light.
Books serve a great cause; their value can’t cease;
It takes years to write but reading is ease;
Book-makers struggle to print a few books;
And keep spending time to, improve their looks.
Some find their way to libraries in town;
Some remain untouched and nev’r taken down;
Silver-fish, Moths eat the books that are old;
Some are gone obsolete, some sold like gold.
Some are in tatters and must be rebound;
Books are Man’s best friends where solace is found;
Reading for long hours, does help you to learn;
Books give much knowledge and wisdom to men.
Read books with great care whose weight is in gold;
Serve generations though they may be old;
Source of much Info, deserving respect;
Books are life-partners whom you ne’er reject!

I think most people read and re-read the things that they have liked. That's certainly true in my case. I re-read Pound a great deal, I re-read Williams, I re-read Thomas, I re-read the people whom I cam to love when I was at what you might call a formative stage.

Esteem
Although it is 2010 and not the 60's--
You have definately caught my eye...
Took me back to the: Crystals from Brooklyn--
And songs of happy days gone by;
Seems i am reading you...
And-wow-you sometimes read me...!
The latter is a great compliment---
Of the highest degree! ;
It seems that whatever your subject matter...
I almost always totally agree...
Given that we grew up in the same era...
This fact does not surprise me;
This week you wrote of an end of an Era In Publishing...
I read you-reread you and know that it is no doubt true--
Sadly, i put my hands to my keyboard (in vain?)
Typing up a manuscript that is long overdo;
Now i am keeping my fingers crossed-oh most esteemed...
That i might just sneak in under the final line...
Much like you in the OLD ERA of New York...
And get myself published-perhaps just in time! ;
Dedicated to the book: '77 Love Sonnets'
Publisher: Common Good Books
And its most esteemed author.

A Trite Condition
In the journey of reading that which seems boring.
That of which seems bland.
For some in time a vocabulary will expand.
For some in time ideas of the new and unused become the foundation in which they stand.
For some it is not about this though.
As much learning is important, so is expressing oneself in ways they have yet do.
A dictation of words heard.
A repetition of slurs spilt upon the page.
Para phrases that continue to blur.
A melting pot one continues to try to stir.
A mix in posture, as if standing in one position too long dulls the mind.
An important muscle we are always trying exercise.
A reflection of who we are.
And we use paper as the mirror.
Adjusting the proportion as we see fit.
Size and shape the reality to our escapes.
Upon planes and dimensions that we have not yet been.
And all this can be done with a simple pen.
So tell me now do you blame them?
Do you blame me for my lack of originality?
I have more of the same.
Different names, but the meaning as common as the books I read.
As common as the words I been fed.
As common a colors I can not see.
Being color blind is the truth you see.
Alot of grays and very few blues purple browns or greens.
When I look to the sky I dream of what I should see.
A wish that is invisible ink.
That one can easily read.
So tell me of these trite conditions what is it you think should be seen?
A improvement in timely manner?
And how would define timely with IQ's varying?
Is their a magic formula that creates that majestic castle?
Do you think one should stop if you are not entertained?
Maybe I am insane, but I will not pass judgments of circumstance not known.
And thus I will not say either this is or isn't something I condone.
At end of the day if a prize is won, it is something I don't care to own.

Orbiting goes On
what kind of society
can't providework for all,
what kind of commuinty,
can't find places for the homeless,
what kind of society has no obligation
for all the sick, crippled and infirm,
what kind of community agrees
to let some have so much more than they can use
while others not enough to live on,
what kind of society does not honor its agreements
with old aged, one parent children and orphans,
because of bad planning
what kind of community lets its neighbors starve
while others have more than enough,
what kind of family is not involved in education
to stamp out ethnic and gender discrimination,
what kind of society thrives on unemployment,
what kind of society is indifferebt to suicide,
what kind of family lets their children use and sell dope,
what kind of society lets pollution destroy the atmospheres
what kind of planet can survive this way,
and goes in search for other life
and still calls it self a democracy and democratic

I read numerous books - loads in fact - and, as I always do when recording a historical project, immersed myself into the subject matter. I spent many hours at Henry's old homes, such as Hampton Court, and visiting the Tower of London. I read no other books during that period.

I did start reading quite young but I was always read to by my parents, who are both actors. Bedtime stories from when I was about two/three to when I was about 15. In fact they didn't stop until I eventually kind of kicked them out of my bedroom.
