I had this big thing about guitar harmonies. I wanted to be the first to put proper three-part harmonies onto a record. That was an achievement.

I sing both in my shower and in my car, mostly in my car, because I have this weird thing - whenever I'm singing to the radio - my friends kind of hate it - but I pick out the harmonies in my head, and I'm singing the harmonies to the tracks and I'm jamming it out.

My vocation is more in composition really than anything else - building up harmonies using the guitar, orchestrating the guitar like an army, a guitar army.

Because I don't play guitar any more, African harmonies and rhythms have been an inspiration to me. I love the raw origin of the sound. It complements my voice and words naturally.

Rainbow Eyes
Shes been gone since yesterday
Oh I didnt care
Never cared for yesterdays
Fancies in the air
No sighs or mysteries
She lay golden in the sun
No broken harmonies
But Ive lost my way
She had rainbow eyes
Rainbow eyes
Rainbow eyes
Love should be a simple blend
A whispering on the shore
No clever words you cant defend
They lead to never more
No sighs or mysteries
She lay golden in the sun
No broken harmonies
But Ive lost my way
She had rainbow eyes
Rainbow eyes
Rainbow eyes
Summer nights are colder now
Theyve taken down the fair
And all the lights have died somehow
Or were they ever there
No sighs or mysteries
She lay golden in the sun
No broken harmonies
But Ive lost my way
She had rainbow eyes
Uuuuh, uuh

Musical You
Your the song I want to sing
Even if the notes in you are unreachable
Still your musical words are attracting
With emotions that is inexplicable
Can you please grant what I've requested
Let me sing the melody you're covering
Though I might mess up and make it tainted
I'll try my best coz' it's worth trying
But if my voice can't race it up
I'll lift it high with my guitar
With the struming rythm it'll reach the top
For your melody it'll soar every star
Or I can play your music with my piano
You'll hear harmonies with flawless keys
Just like the one's you hear on the radio
It'll move you away from your axis
I’ll use everything possible
To play you with every sound
My piano or my guitar
It’ll do to make you astound
I'll play you with every tone
Even with the highest peak of note
But it'll be nicer if I'm not alone
Us with just one voice, that is my quote

In My Dreams
There was a time some time ago
When every sunrise meant a sunny day, oh a sunny day
But now when the morning light shines in
It only disturbs the dreamland where I lay, oh where I lay
I used to thank the lord when Id wake
For life and love and the golden sky above me
But now I pray the stars will go on shinin, you see in my dreams you love me
Daybreak is a joyful time
Just listen to the songbird harmonies, oh the harmonies
But I wish the dawn would never come
I wish there was silence in the trees, oh the trees
If only I could stay asleep, at least I could pretend youre thinkin of me
cause nighttime is the one time I am happy, you see in my dreams
Chorus:
We climb and climb and at the top we fly
Let the world go on below us, we are lost in time
And I dont know really what it means
All I know is that you love me, in my dreams
(solo)
I keep hopin one day Ill awaken, and somehow shell be lying by my side
And as I wonder if the dawn is really breakin
She touches me and suddenly Im alive
Chorus repeats 2x
Oho, in my dreams

When we were first started we were doing a lot of Motown stuff, but actually playing it more in a rock way. Everybody in the band sang and we did a lot of harmonies.
Straight-away the ideas flow in upon me, directly from God, and not only do I see distinct themes in my mind's eye, but they are clothed in the right forms, harmonies, and orchestration.

What Was It You Wanted?
What was it you wanted?
Tell me again so Ill know.
Whats happening in there,
Whats going on in your show.
What was it you wanted,
Could you say it again?
Ill be back in a minute
You can get it together by then.
What was it you wanted
You can tell me, Im back,
We can start it all over
Get it back on the track,
You got my attention,
Go ahead, speak.
What was it you wanted
When you were kissing my cheek?
Was there somebody looking
When you give me that kiss
Someone there in the shadows
Someone that I might have missed?
Is there something you needed,
Something I dont understand.
What was it you wanted,
Do I have it here in my hand?
Whatever you wanted
Slipped out of my mind,
Would you remind me again
If youd be so kind.
Has the record been breaking,
Did the needle just skip,
Is there somebody waitin,
Was there a slip of the lip?
What was it you wanted
I aint keepin score
Are you the same person
That was here before?
Is it something important?
Maybe not.
What was it you wanted?
Tell me again I forgot.
Whatever you wanted
What could it be
Did somebody tell you
That you could get it from me,
Is it something that comes natural
Is it easy to say,
Why do you want it,
Who are you anyway?
Is the scenery changing,
Am I getting it wrong,
Is the whole thing going backwards,
Are they playing our song?
Where were you when it started
Do you want it for free
What was it you wanted
Are you talking to me?

I don't dictate the solos and I don't dictate the vocal harmonies.
Brazilian music has many of the ingredients that I strive for in my own music: Strong melodies and a disciplined but intense rhythmic concept, and interesting harmonies.
