Writing is making sense of life. You work your whole life and perhaps you've made sense of one small area.

Since I Have Felt The Sense Of Death

Since I have felt the sense of death,
Since I have borne its dread, its fear—
Oh, how my life has grown more dear
Since I have felt the sense of death!
Sorrows are good, and cares are small,
Since I have known the loss of all.

Since I have felt the sense of death,
And death forever at my side—
Oh, how the world has opened wide
Since I have felt the sense of death!
My hours are jewels that I spend,
For I have seen the hours end.

Since I have felt the sense of death,
Since I have looked on that black night—
My inmost brain is fierce with light
Since I have felt the sense of death.
O dark, that made my eyes to see!
O death, that gave my life to me!

A Vicious Cycle

Taking life and feeding death
a broken path, a fork in the road.
Screaming, beating, defeating,
not making any sense but still vital to life and death.
Whispering cruel thoughts, stealing breath
voicing once hidden intentions.
Taking life and feeding death.

Gentle heat, steadfast heart
killing death to take a chance on life every fourth.
Fighting, winning and losing,
not making any sense but still vital to life and death.
Encouraging and coaxing, giving life
pushing back the darkness until its turn to submit.
Taking death and making life.

Whipped around, a vicious cycle
full of life and death, each vital to survival.
Giving up, making a new start, taking a chance on something new
Still making no sense at all, but perhaps it's not ment to.
Degrading, crushing, Encouraging, freeing
Compromise, age, learning to wait.
Life and death, each vital to survival.

No Sense

The day has been going and story of life is just fading away since my life has no certainties. Nothing is really known and I am just penning few words. I am not sure as to why I am writing things even though sense is far away. Feeling of proper sense is nowhere near as I am just in a senseless world where finding the right answers is really difficult to do. What have I written and why?

I Come Alive In Writing

I come alive in writing
Even if the writing means nothing to anyone else-
I come alive in writing
Even if I am totally deluding myself as to its value-
I come alive in writing
Even if at times while writing there is an underlying hopelessness and despair -

I come alive in writing
As if writing is what God has given me to do-
I come alive in writing
As if through it I can truly give to and help others-
I come alive in writing
As if life has meaning through it-

I come alive in writing
Even when I sense the writing is not good or great
As I would wish it to be.

I Fear My Own Silence

I FEAR MY OWN SILENCE

I fear my own silence
I fear the end in life in writing
Before my life has ended-
I force myself to go on
I feel my own inadequacy
I feel I am writing poor lines.
I sense it would make more sense to stop
I should stop
I can’t stop
I need to write
Even if my writing is only the scribbling of an amateur fool who has wasted his life in words and more words
I write this now in the darkness before the morning has begun
Will I walk to Shul this morning justified?
Or do I know these lines now too
More of the same self- indulgent nonsense
No one needs but myself?

What He Gave to Us

I wanted to do something different today
I didn’t know what to do, or even what to say.

I had a feeling deep inside- that made me
Want to scream “ I’m alive”.

I looked around at all the beauties of the earth
And thought about all my worth.
That I was born with all five senses
That the lord had given to me.

The sense to Touch a delicate flower
The sense to Hear a bewitching hour
The sense to Smell what s in the air.
The sense to Taste the juices of a pear
The sense to See the beauty of a pearl

There is another sense that they don’t say
Such as Feelings- of love, to wipe tears away
Feelings cover all aspects of life
It can make things wrong or things right.

Feelings of passion and despair
Of compassion from one who cares
Bitterness, anger, hate and sorrow
Even those make life worth while.

There is so much that we must be grateful for
For GOD has opened all the doors.
He knew that we needed all these things
To make our lives complete.

But there was still something missing
What good was all these senses
If we didn’t have the main sense.

The sense to think and rationalize
All that he had given
That was the thing that would really
Make life worth living.

Life Is Life

Life is after all life
Whether you lead peacefully or with full of strife
It has to be spent either way
Casual or with noble and purposeful way

Life can never have different yardstick
Even birds have understood when they speak
Arrival of their new born in the nest
As if to celebrate it with fun and live at best

How nice they take care of new born?
Even rich or poor also enjoy same way even if life is fully torn
It is natural and almighty has given
The same sense of feeling and interwoven

Let us not enlarge area of operation
As it gives rise then to deterioration
If one can't look after its own affair at home
How can he withstand outside pressure and welcome

I picked the sense of birds and evaluated
How peaceful was their life and nicely related?
To build nest in time and take full care
Even to face the presence when some one goes near or dares

In blind quest we sometimes sacrifice real happiness
That may make him restless and not shown on face
If life is given for peaceful living and with purpose
It must be made amply clear and must be chosen

Let is build high rise buildings or make living in space
It has to be made with sense barring the mad race
After all it is for our living and that must be borne in mind
Love, affection, relation are all for us not to go blind

Europe has what we do not have yet, a sense of the mysterious and inexorable limits of life, a sense, in a word, of tragedy. And we have what they sorely need: a sense of life's possibilities.

Life Makes No Sense

life makes no sense,
some days i wished it did,
so i wouldn't have to say,
'life sucks'
time to time,
i try and see the good,
it just how?
i mean why?
life is unfair,
i'm waiting for it,
just to get better,
but, it start to seem impossible,
life never what it seems,
people not what they seem,
life makes no sense,
it filled with ups and downs,
are we suppose to learn?
what is the message from god?
to be everything you can?
no matter how unfair he makes it?
we just have to fight to get through?
our life we suppose to live,
day after day?
because life to me,
just don't make no sense.

Sense

Sense
Which makes some sense
Other than nonsense
Supreme sense
Is civic sense.
Embedded with moral sense
Inject sense
In this universe
Oozing with nonsense.

I lost

It started out real slowly
A few simple hyms and haws
I changed them just to suit you
But then I lost it all.

I lost the way I used to laugh
At times quite dumb and silly.
I lost the way I used to think
Of life in a big city.

I lost my sense of independence
Which I once held so strong
I lost my sense of humor
Ever since you came along.

I lost my sense of flair
That made me shine so bright.
I even lost my favorite Bear
That I used to hold so tight.

But worst of all
I lost me sense
of being who I am

And so tonight
I take it back
No matter what you care
For its not right
To lose so much
Just to gain dispair.

In A Sense I Was Made For This

Upheaval and change
Challenges and knowledge
Schoolwork and Homework
Tests and Quizzes
Finals and Midterms
Broken relationships and loss of time
Unrealized dreams and confusion

I don't think I can handle all this
I know I can't handle this
I don't know what I will do with my life
I don't know my own ambition
Confused by my talents
Feel like I'm made for more
And Yet

Through the pain, when I look at them as trials
In a sense I'm made for this
I'm made to endure this
This is what gives me perseverance
This is what gives me hope
The Great Maker made me
The Great Maker made me to grow up
The Great Maker is using these trials to grow me
So through the pain
Through the confusion
Through the fear of failure
Through the worry and anxiety
My lack of faith my lack of trust
In a sense I was made for this
God you don't want me to be full of sorrow
But God you trust me enough to let me go enough to let me grow
So in a sense
I'm overwhelmed by all these things
I wonder
What then shall I say of all this?
How shall I deal with this
By myself I know I'm inadequate
But when you're with me
In a sense
This is what I'm made
For

Essence Of Sense Of Humor

It’s the rarest of the commodities
It’s a gift possessed by few
Yes I’m talking about sense of humor
It has an essence that’s absolutely new
People having this rarest quality
Can turn the things all upside down
Making a mockery of most serious cases
They would hardly let you frown
That’s the color it brings to life
That’s the essence of sense of humor
The energy it brings to others and self
Is way beyond all jokes and rumor

You can master the circumstances
You can nullify the negativity
You need not be a professional
It’s only a matter of creativity
It diffuses the negative energy
And infuses the positive
It gives us a new direction
To be a little more sensitive
All tears can turn to smiles
With a small pinch of humor
People will remember you forever
That’s the essence of sense of humor.

In My Dreams I Am Lost

IN MY DREAMS I AM LOST

In my dreams I am lost
I take the wrong road
I cannot find my way home-

In my waking life this morning
I am lost -
The books piled high waiting to be read
The endless droll of others never-ending pages-

I am lost cold
And only writing my only true work
Only writing these words now
Brings me a bit of hope a bit of a sense
that I might mean something somehow

What Will I Do / For The Weeks In Traveling

WHAT WILL I DO/ FOR THE WEEKS IN TRAVELING

What will I do
For the weeks in Traveling
Without a Computer
An Internet
An ability to write
To post my poems and thoughts
To leave more material
For remembrance
More of myself
For Posterity?

What will I do
When I cannot pretend
I am making myself live
Beyond my lifetime
By writing?

What will I do when
I have to just live
Present to present
Without any sense
That something of this passing time
Will endure?

What will I do
When I do not have
This little way
of making meaning in my life
I have now,
However questionable and troubled
This is?

There Is No Poem I Can Write

THERE IS NO POEM I CAN WRITE

There is no poem I can write
That can solve the problems of my life-

A poem may save for a moment
Or give hope for a brief time
I may make me believe in myself again
For an instant-

It cannot make money
Or improve the situation
Of those I care about-

It cannot even now
Shake me from my despair
My sense of myself going down

A poem can be only very small help now
Very very small

It cannot even make me wholly believe
In the so- called poem I am writing now.

This Will All Make Perfect Sense Someday (Live)

this will all make perfect sense someday
i'll be ok....
this will all maker perfect sense someday
theres got to be a reason for the rain
all my bills have all gotten paid
i shaked the bet, i broke the bet
this could have been a slow song
a laundry list of all the wrongs
but at the end of the day
this is my beautiful disaster piece Ive made
and it goes, and i quote, and i never would lie:
this will all make perfect sense someday
i'll be ok....
this will all maker perfect sense someday
theres got to be a reason for the rain
i don't understand the numbers
but my faith is in the math
and the odds are all that they believe
(inaudible)
and to all the hearts i've broken
and the ones that once broke mine
i've got suspicions all will be forgive in time
all you gotta do is call them up and say:
this will all make perfect sense someday
i'll be ok....
this will all maker perfect sense someday
theres got to be a reason for the rain
and if it ever gets bad, i mean really bad
i'll move to Nova Scotia and forget the life i had
be up at nine each morning down by the shore
collecting things that fell off boats in storms
look here, so i might never but its nice to know the options there
the options there...
this will all make perfect sense someday
i'll be ok....
this will all maker perfect sense someday
theres got to be a reason for the rain
a reason for the rain, a reason for the rain
the reason for the rain, for the rain
and is it a habit i keep biting my lip in the same place
