Early Works - Alone To Face The World
Born some years ago,
raised in an orphanage
that is all I know
with a lot of other kids
until I became of age to get a job
and earn a couple of bob.
I was alone to face the world
with its evils and temptations,
alone to face the world
with its humiliations,
alone without a friend
to whom I could depend.
Life was hard for me
and the times weren’t easy
as sadness surrounded me
and as the years drifted by,
I began to live my life a lie
with a tear in each eye.
Now my life is disappearing fast
there’s not long for me to last
and now the end is near
death I do not fear
for I see the good and the undertow
of how evil does grow.

Character is something you forge for yourself; temperament is something you are born with and can only slightly modify. Some people have easy temperaments and weak characters; others have difficult temperaments and strong characters. We are all prone to confuse the two in assessing people we associate with. Those with easy temperaments and weak characters are more likable than admirable; those with difficult temperaments and strong characters are more admirable than likable. We Do Not Respect Her At All
Those who spend decades learning about Nature of Nature's ways will tell you they have much to know
Her deepest secrets we will never learn of and our wonder of her only seem to grow
One could live for a thousand years and yet not know all about her as her most precious secrets with us she will never share
And yet in part due to us she does seem much the poorer as many of her life forms either extinct or rare
Many of her waterways by us have been polluted our factories puff up black smoke to the sky
Why do we try to harm the one who feeds us that is the question many have asked why
Without us Nature would do nicely though for to live on her we do depend
She supplies all of our needs for our existence though to her we are not a good friend
In technology humans have come far and many human achievements are great
But we've not been respectful to Nature and that's something we cannot celebrate
But Nature she will live forever and like her Seasons we come to life and die
Immortality for us Homo Sapiens has surely been based on a lie
