I was kicked out of The Stars And Stripes twice, and finally got back in.

The Scars And Stripes
The stars and stripes
Reflect my freedom
In this land
I live each day
But the scars and stripes
Have bought my freedom
Christ's death
The only way
As people live and die
For freedom
In the USA
And lands so far away
But for me
Eternal freedom
Is a price
Only One could pay
To the stars and stripes
I pledge allegianceI
n the land
That I reside
But I owe my all
to the scars and stripes
For one day
In heaven I'll reside

Ive Been Kicked Around
Well Ive been kicked around
What do you see
Am I alright?
Im alright
I once had a heart
I was ripped from it
Chewed up then spat out
Like a cherry pit
And if I seem a little hard
Its just that Ive been kicked around
I dont know how I got this far
The way that Ive been kicked around
Uh huh
Well Ive been kicked around
What do you see
Am I alright?
Am I alright?
Well Ive been kicked around
What do you see
Am I alright?
Am I alright?
I once had a soul
It was torn from me
I wont cry a tear
I will carry me
And if I seem a little hard
Its just that Ive been kicked around
I dont know how I got this far
The way that Ive been kicked around
Dont worry, Im all right
So if I seem a little hard
Its just that Ive been kicked around
I dont know how I got this far
The way that Ive been kicked around
The way that Ive been kicked around
The way that Ive been kicked around
The way that Ive been kicked around
The way that Ive been kicked around
The way that Ive been kicked around
The way that Ive been kicked around

All Mine (Demo)
I've got blood on my hands from this little timid life
It's just like a man, to trust me with all his might
I've got mud on my feet, when I kicked you back 3 wks.
If I promised to keep my mouth shut, can I sit her while you speak
Finally mine, your finally all mine
Finally mine, your finally all mine
Where did it get me, all mine
What did it teach me, all mine
Somebody stop me, I'm losing control again
I've got honor to earn
But I guess I lost my turn
When will I learn, to treat you with concern
Finally mine, your finally all mine
Finally mine, your finally all mine
Where did it get me, all mine
Look what it taught me, all mine
Somebody stop me, I'm losing control
Where did it get me, all mine
Look what it taught me, all mine
Somebody stop me, I'm losing control
All mine
Where did it get me, all mine
Look what it taught me, all mine
Somebody stop me, I'm losing control

Kicked Around
Ive been pulled to pieces, Ive got an arm over here,
Ive got a leg over there, Ive got my ass somewhere upside down,
But Im back, Im here to tell you Im back, better than before,
Cant keep a good thing down, uh-uh.
Well Ive been kicked around, never thought that I could fall,
Thought that I was standing tall, turned out I was the ball,
And you know what, and i, and i, and Ive been kicked around,
Baby after all, I took all the shots you called,
Turned out I was the ball, you kicked you pushed.
And Ive been kicked around, and Ive been upside down,
Oh Ive been bounced around, kicked around,
Im gonna get you, get you, your very momma will regret you,
Im going to stomp and drag you to your knees,
Your very papa will forget you, kicked around.
Oh i, oh i, oh Ive been bounced around,
Let me tell you, Im here to tell you,
You can get up, you can put all the pieces back together,
Yeah, dont let him stomp on you baby, get up now!
I said you made me feel so small, bouncing me against the wall,
Just like I was the ball, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!
Oh i, oh i, oh i, oh Ive been kicked around,
Now look at me baby, (trips alone) paved the memories you gave me,
My eyes are open, eyes are open, now I can see,
Youre nothing but a bad, bad memory,
Im all together now, all together now,
Im the biggest ball you ever did see, Im gonna roll on you,
Im gonna fall on you, Im gonna stomp on you,
Im gonna punch on you, Im gonna choke on you,
Im gonna rip you, drag you to your knees,
Your very papa will regret you!
No need to come begging to me, my heart is deaf to your plea,
The hurt you have planted has grown much in me,
Im gonna lie to you, get away from me!
Oh i, oh i, oh i, oh Ive been kicked around,
And Ive been upside down, been kicked around,
Yeah, here I am, Im back, Im all together,
Cant keep a good woman down, Im big and tall,
Listen to me, just listen to me, just look at me,
Im back, here I am, hear me coming....

Kicked In The Taco
Today at the new morocco
I got kicked in the taco
All I saw were stars
Say, it's a bit nightmarish
From here to albondigas parish
Underneath the stars
Hey, I got kicked in the taco
There's a brewing sirocco
On the planet of mars
And from me, you got my message of love
You got my message
You got my message of love

I Shattered the Mirror
I kicked the mirror with my boot,
Then I finally saw how different I looked.
I loved looking at me.
So I kicked the mirror again,
I looked ever more different,
Just the way I wanted to look.
This time, I kicked the mirror,
Till it made sounds of sharp shattering.
I looked gorgeous now in front of this mirror.P
I wanted to be shattered again!
Post shattering, I screamed hooray,
For my shattered look became me and I smiled.
The reason I shattererd this mirror,
Was that this mirror was my own self-image,
This mirror showed me bad,
So the self-improvement,
Was a happy thing not sad.

The Girls at Home
When the daylight fades on the tented field,
And the campfire cheerfully burns,
Then the Soldier's thought, like a carrier dove,
To his own love home returns;
Like a carrier dove -- a carrier dove,
And gleams beyond the foam,
So a light springs up in the Soldier's heart,
As he thinks of the Girls at Home.
When the shadows dance on the canvas walls,
And the camp with melody rings,
'Tis the good old song of the Stars and Stripes,
That the fireside circle sings;
Of the Stars and Stripes -- the Stars and Stripes --
For love of which they roam;
But the final song and the sweetest one,
Is the song of the Girls at Home.
Now the silver rays of a setting moon,
Thru' the lofty sycamores creep,
And the fires burn low, and the sentries watch
O'er the arm-ed host a-sleep;
And the sentries watch -- the sentries watch --
Till morning gilds the dome;
Till the rattling drum shall the sleepers rouse
From the dream of the Girls at Home.

Stars, Stripes and Paper Dolls
Stars, stripes and paper dolls
Sometimes most prominent inside
My troubled mind,
That sordid spirit had
Locked the door to humanity-
I was none but a child-
Too many dreams
Snakes at my bedside-
My delusional world
Alive last night,
This morning and at
Noon, every night-
Walking the tightrope day by day
Some child lashing out at me, spit in my face-
None but a child myself-it frightened me-
I became a prisoner inside the world of my dreams-
Locked inside with a platinum key-
Fell one day down the elevator slats-
Closed the door on humanity, I did-
Stars, stripes and paper dolls-
Each had a name-
Intruders from a different galaxy, or perhaps
Some other universe-
I never saw that child again- I had shut the whole world out-
A snake wrapped about my mother’s severed hand-
It hardly mattered; she was close by, protecting me-
Locked inside a world I had
Fabricated for my self alone-
Sitting cross legged on the carpet, staring at the ceiling-
They threatened to take me away last night-
Today, tomorrow, noon and at night-
Stars, stripes and paper dolls-
I played as a child of fourteen-
It didn’t matter- they knew the truth, but I didn’t, so
I cried no tears- I hear rain falling outside my window-
My door is unlocked momentarily-
I ride my proud stallion into the night-
Losing insight and finding my dreams-
Stars, stripes and paper dolls- always there for me-
Today, tomorrow and at night- and
I never found the key.

He Took My Stripes Upon His Back
I know of what you lack
I took your stripes upon my back
Look and you will see
The stripes I took to set you free
When your world has turned to dust
You must look to the one you trust
When every part of you would hide
Open up and let me deep inside
For once I bid you come to me
Yet you ran and hid behind a tree
Your flesh it only ever fails
So I redeemed you with three bloody nails
And now old Adam bids you run
But your Lord says no, stop and turn
Turn around and you will see
I nailed your sin to a bloody tree
I loved you so, that I would die
All other voices simply lie
If you would look into my face
You'll be enraptured by my grace
I know your state, I know your lack
It's why your stripes are on my back
But turn around and you will see
The grace that came to set you free
When I inevitably stumble
It keeps me low, it makes me humble
I long for the day, when sin's no more
And He bids me come on through the door
When every tear from every eye
Is wiped away and flesh does die
And incorruptible reigns alone
And sits upon its glorious throne

Poem for Molly's Fortieth Birthday
'Why do you
have stripes
in your forehead,
Mama?
Are you
old?'
Not old.
But not so
young
that I cannot
see
the world contracting
upon itself
& the circle
closing
at the end.
As the furrows
in my brow
deepen,
I can see
myself
sinking back
into that childhood
street
I walked along
with my grandfather,
thinking he was old
at sixty-three
since I was four,
as you are four
to my forty.
Forty years
to take
the road out . . .
Will another forty
take me
back?
Back to the street
I grew up on,
back to
my mother's breast.
back to the second
world war
of a second
child,
back
to the cradle
endlessly
rocking?
I am young
as you are
Molly-
yet with stripes
in my brow;
I earn my youth
as you must earn
your age.
These stripes
are decorations
for my valor-
forty years
of marching
to a war
I could not declare,
nor locate,
yet have somehow
won.
Now,
I begin
to unwin,
unravelling
the sleeves
of care
that have
stitched up
this brow,
unravelling
the threads
that have kept
me scared,
as I pranced
over the world,
seemingly fearless,
working
without a net,
knowing
if I fell
it would
only be
into that same
childhood street,
where I dreaded
to tread
on the lines-
not knowing
the lines
would someday
tread
on me.
Molly,
when you are forty,
read this poem
& tell me:
have we won
or lost
the war?

Say Hallelujah
Say Hallelujah
Throw up your hands
The bucket is kicked
The body is gone
Close your eyes
And bow your head
To rest your soul
And to praise the dead
Say Hallelujah
Throw up your hands
The bucket is kicked
The body is gone
Dry your eyes
And stand upright
Put a smile on your face
He wouldnt want us to cry
The sun will rise
The stars will shine
Turning day to dusk
And night to dawn
Well pass on
But until that time
Say Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Say Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Say Hallelujah
Throw up your hands
The bucket is kicked
The body is gone
Have mercy
Its a wonderful life
Eternal rest for the weary
Mourners party tonight
Say Hallelujah
Throw up your hands
The bucket is kicked
The body is gone
Wave your hands
But dont say goodbye
Were all gonna meet you
On the other side

You Made Okay To Do It Your Way
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
Why did you choose to pick a ball,
Knowing picking it...
Wasn't cool to do.
You complained,
That you couldn't take the weight.
And a waiting too late makes it okay.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
You made okay to do it your way,
To...
Pick then kick a ball.
To,
Pick then kick a ball.
You made okay to do it your way,
To...
Pick then kick a ball.
To,
Pick then kick a ball.
Why did you choose to pick a ball,
Knowing picking it...
Wasn't cool to do.
You made okay to do it your way,
To...
Pick then kick a ball.
To,
Pick then kick a ball.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.
You pick up then you kicked the ball.

Poor Dog Poetry!
poor dog poetry, outcasts of society,
staying down by the tracks.
do what you have to do,
forget what you thought you knew...
and you better watch your back.
raised up right, followed the light,
stood for what you believed.
off to war and back again,
medals made of lies and tin,
gave much more than you received.
the horns blow, patriots rise.
somewhere another innocent dies.
stars and stripes in the land of lies....
freedom bows her head and cries!

Kick
Sometimes you kick
Sometimes you get kicked
Sometimes you kick
Come on come on come on come
I look around unsatisfied
At what theyre giving me
Then I think to myself
Is there someone else
Who feels the same as me
Do you feel the same baby
When my back is broken
When the mountain moves away
All the dreams and promises
That we give
We give away
Sometimes you kick
Sometimes you get kicked
Sometimes you kick
Sometimes you get kicked
Look ahead
But dont mix it up
Baby look ahead
To better days and better ways
Make peace with flesh and blood
Make peace with your love
Nothing more I could ask of you
In the end this is the truth

Jumper
standing
the cars look like ants
the wind is harsh up here
it bites through my clothes
chilling me to the bone
rock
hello
i kick you with my toe
falling i loose sight of you
before you hit the ground
thinking back
to why i am up here?
to jump thats right
i am not sad
mearly observant
note
i take you from my pocket
and set you down
so they will read
but they will not understand
sigh
this is where
i should have second thoughts
but i do not
i am not sad
stepping off
i begin to drop
so many things
to observe so
quickly
faces
shocked
confused
most do not see
they watch their tv
lights
become a blur
so beautiful
the stars
and cars
life
goes by before my eyes
but i do not
watch it
i am not sad
but what is this
a tear?
no time to observe
the ground is near
the end is here
rock
hello
yes i kicked you
but i am not sad
for my life is finally over

Down Memory Lane
footprints on the sand of time
dawn yawning waiting for the sun
cicadas are mute no wings to fly
back on yestertimes
rickety bike
complaining how the worn out shoe
kicked his butt and kicked his ass
back on faded yesterdays
rain so cold
breathlessly pouring down
ached hearts and wounded souls
waylaid on damp ground
down down down on memory lane
nobody cares by now
that had just begone
memories out of time

The Stars
let the stars
rule over me
let them
give me
my destiny
let the zodiac
unfold
my days
let them
i have no more
i have no word
left
for my own world
i look at the lines of my palms searching for myself
let the stars
tell me now, who am i
finally on the day when i am no longer what i have known myself to be
let the stars tell me my name
let the stars bury me in the place where the stars choose me
let my world be the world owned by these stars
i have no word
i have nothing left for myself
yes, let these stars comfort me let all things come without my calling

Come Back To My Love
(bob gaudio/jerry corbetta/john bettis)
I hear you crying
Through a long distance line
Now youre finally saying
It was good to be mine
But you couldnt throw it
cause you didnt know it
And now
You want to come back
Come back to my love
You want to come back
Come back to my love
Bring the guitar in
When you know its all youve got
You finally need me
Always did from the start
But you couldnt show it
cause you didnt know it
And now
You want to come back
Come back to my love
You want to come back
Come back to my love
So I say to you
I cant live without it
But I know its true
And I cant have love in my life
Without you
So girl
Why dont you come back
Come back to my love
Why dont you come back
Come back to my love
Oh girl
Why dont you come back
Come back to my love
You got to come back
Come back to my love
You got to come back
Come back to my love
