I've always been like that. I was a tomboy when I was a kid, so I was always playing baseball and basketball and football and stuff as a kid with the boys.

Don't You?
I saw you there so beautiful
You stop and stare to magical
Then you ask me for my name
And we took an uptown train
Before you get an leave
I wanna know do you like baseball, football,
Watchin movies on sunay night?
Do you like kissing when its raining, playing basketball
You walked me home so wonderful
It starts to snow its incredible
Now we are walking up my street
And you slowly turn to me
Your just three inches from my lips
But before we do, do you like baseball, football,
Watchin movies on sunday night?
Do you like kissing when its raining, playing basketball?
Show me the places where you come from
And the places you love most
I wanna know everything you are
I need to know..

Hey Little Tomboy
(brian wilson)
Hey, little tomboy, sit here on my lap
I got things that I gotta tell you
No more skateboards, put away your baseball mitt.
Your rough livin days are through
You could find places to go
You could see that boys love you so
Theyre doin it all over the world
Hey little hey little hey little tomboy
Time to turn into a girl
Hey little hey little hey little tomboy
Theyre doin it all over the world
Hey, little tomboy, Ive had my eyes on you
Thinkin what a girl you could be
Mmm, I smell perfume, lets try some cut-off jeans
Look at all the changes I see
Im gonna teach you to kiss
Youre gonna feel just like this
Theyre doin it all over the world
Hey little hey little hey little tomboy
Time to turn into a girl
Hey little hey little hey little tomboy
Theyre doin it all over the world
(hey little hey little hey little tomboy)
Im gonna make you a girl
(hey little hey little hey little tomboy)
Youd make a beautiful girl
(hey little hey little hey little tomboy)
Theyre doing it all over the world

Basketball (For Devyn)
In a world of football
and baseball, too,
basketball,
is all I want to do.
I would play football,
if Mom would permit.
But she can’t stand
to see me take a hit.
But Mom loves basketball
and so do I.
I love it, live it,
I want to fly.
You should see,
what I did today!
I am going all the way,
to the NBA.
Right now, I’m still growing,
I have growing pains.
But it will be worth it,
I’m the next Lebraun James.

I was a very good baseball and football player, but my father always told me I was much more interested in how I looked playing baseball or football than in actually playing. There's great truth in that.

Playing on the Playground
Everyone plays in groups,
They run across the playground.
Playing football or soccer and,
Maybe even basketball.
Girls running around chasing boys
And here's me playing soccer or me,
playing alone. Maybe always alone.

I played baseball, and that's pretty much it. Basketball came late, this was, basketball was the sport that I tried to master, I kind of mastered baseball, so basketball was one of those things where I wanted to master this game, so that's why I probably play it the way I do.

I also tell them that your education can take you way farther than a football, baseball, track, or basketball will - that's just the bottom line.

Summer: The Best Time of the Year
Summer is the best season to me
Whether it be swimming in a pond or waking up at three
Summer and I seem to have a bond
It is the time for baseball and other sports
Whether it's baseball, basketball, or football
It's where we drink Gatorade by the quarts
And this is my favorite part of summer, the best season of them all

I think we have our sports within our own culture that are huge with baseball, football, basketball, and hockey. Those are the sports in America that we grow up with and soccer isn't really there yet.

I also developed an interest in sports, and played in informal games at a nearby school yard where the neighborhood children met to play touch football, baseball, basketball and occasionally, ice hockey.

Sports Fan
I love baseball and football.
basketball, and hockey too.
Boxing, golf and wrestling,
but not as much as I love you.
Never think I put sports first.
You're more important to me.
Now bring me a drink & pretzels,
and get outta' the way of the TV!

Shooting Hoops
When the school lets out and the shifts are done
Get the boys together get a ball get a run
Lace up the sneaks kick off them shoes
Ill admit I play to win yo cause I dont like to lose
At seger park theyve got the best competition
Good moves baby - Im the definition
They shooting hoops
Yeah yeah yeah
They playing basketball
I learned at old pine, see Im the school yard hustler
I had my hardknocks now Im an off the backboard buster
I could fake to the left penetrate like mike
Or 360 in the air as dominique might
I could pass like magic
I could shoot like the bird, after a doctor j dunk
The courtside drunk said good lord
They shooting hoops
Yeah yeah yeah
They playing basketball
Lunch from a hot dog stand a pretzel and a pop
Weve been playing all day cause weve had this court non stop
The city sun is hot - all the courts they steaming
Bright eyed yong ball handlers are believing and dreaming
Hoping some day all this playing will be paying
Thats what all the sideline junkies smoking reefer keep saying
They shooting hoops
Yeah yeah yeah
They playing basketball

It's very warm there, so we were outdoors all the time. The local people had programs for us year-round, where as kids we had the opportunity to play football, basketball, baseball, track and field - we just went from one sport to the next, year-round.

I'm the biggest nerd - I love comic books and stuff like that! I don't have any friends who are actresses. I only had one girlfriend when I was growing up. Most of my friends were boys. I was such a tomboy. I enjoyed doing guy things.
Playing With The Boys
Id say it was the right time
To walk away
When dreaming takes you nowhere
Its time to play
Bodies working overtime
Your money dont matter
The clock keeps ticking
When someones on your mind
Im moving in slow motion
Feels so good
Its a strange anticipation
Knock, knock, knocking on wood
Bodies working overtime
Man against man
And all that ever matters
Is baby whos ahead in the game
Funny but its always the same
Playing, playing with the boys
Playing, playing with the boys
After chasing sunsets
One of lifes simple joys
Is playing with the boys
Said it was the wrong thing
For me to do
I said its just a boys game
Girls play too
My heart is working overtime
In this kind of game
People get hurt
Im afraid that someone is me
If you want to find me, Ill be
Playing, playing with the boys
Staying, playing with the boys
After chasing sunsets
One of lifes simple joys
I dont want to be the moth around your fire
I dont want to be obsessed by my desire
Im ready, Im leaving
Ive seen enough
...with the boys
Ive seen enough
You play too rough
Playing, playing with the boys
Ill be staying, playing with the boys
After chasing sunsets
One of lifes simple joys
Is playing with the boys
Playing with the boys
Playing
Playing
Playing
Playing

Something Real
words and music by emily saliers
I've seen the sun on a funeral, the full moon in a midday sky
Tactician politician hold his head and wonder why
I'm always struck that much harder by the power of suggestion
By now I know the answer's always in the question
Now that we're done with that why don't you warm the car
All of the fields are filled with fresh boys playing football
More than the weather chills, the bands practicing their drills
I've got to get back to something real with you
I had to call your parents to get your number again
I was either gonna be the prodigal or the banished friend
We were standing against an outside wall, I was afraid of what you'd say
It took me ten years to call you back but here we are today
Now that we're done with that why don't you warm the car
All of the fields are filled with fresh boys playing football
More than the weather chills, the bands practicing their drills
I've got to get back to something real with you
So life has brought you this: two marriages and three kids
And me life as slick as ice that finally hit the skids
You're as sweet as you ever were
A slight sickness of regret washes over me
And in the end that's all I get
Now that we're done with that why don't you warm the car
All of the fields are filled with fresh boys playing football
More than the weather chills, the bands practicing their drills
I've got to get back to something real
I've got to get back to something real
I've got to get back to something real with you

I like low-maintenance girls, but at the same time, classy. She needs to take care of herself. But also be a girl who isn't afraid to get sweaty and play basketball, so it's cool if she's a tomboy.

Dancing With The Big Boys
Somethings going on in society
(dancing with the big boys)
You chew your fingers and stare at the floor
(dancing with the big boys)
One wrong word and youre out of sync
Talking bout a hands on policy
(big boys)
Death to the trees
(dancing with the big boys)
They werent bad, they werent brave
Nothing is embarrassing
(dancing with the big boys)
There are too many people, too much belief
(dancing with the big boys)
Where theres trouble theres poetry
(dancing with the big boys)
Your family is a football team
(big boys)
This dot marks your location
(dancing with the big boys)
Loneliness in a free society
(dancing with the big boys)
(big boys)
This can be embarrassing
