I've learned at the book signings that everyone has obstacles.

There's nothing definite yet. Of course, any time you have a book, there's going to be book signings and stuff. We'll do bookstores that handle both audio and video. And some of the stores want to have the CDs available at the same time. So that part looks real good.

Well yes so far, I was recently in Germany and they had me do six book signings a day and that was too much so I had them cut it down to about three. It becomes taxing at times but its a lot of fun and you meet a lot of nice people.

Epiphany, Dead Man Walking
i learned to walk again,
the day you drove away
and left me standing in the drive...
i learned to see again,
staring at old photographs
in a book hid away.
i learned to think again,
thinking, and rethinking
every move and every action.
i learned to feel again,
struck dumb with waves of sorrow,
with blood on my lips.
i learned to cry again,
in the dark and sleepless night,
when no one else could see.
i learned to fight again,
pushed back against the wall
with nothing left to lose.
i learned to pray again,
to a God that doesnt answer,
from the gates of hell.
i learned to dream again,
violent shaking nightmares,
waking up to a cold sweat.
i learned to love again
to cherish every moment,
every touch forgotten.
i learned to walk again,
and walked off into the sunset
with our hearts in my hands.

When Obstacles Are Identified
When obstacles are identified in your life...
There is no need to keep them around as souvenirs.
They are obstacles.
Get rid of them.
Whether they are mental or physical.
Moving and breathing on two legs or not.
Tolerate them or keep them blocked out,
If you wish.
As if they did not exist!
And yet you allow them to persist.
When obstacles are identified in your life...
There is no need to keep them around as souvenirs.
Or classify them as friends.
Or habits you can not do without!
To keep you hemmed in with your life knocked out.
When obstacles are identified in your life...
Get rid of them.
Befriending them is not advisable.
Unless you suffer from a need to bleed?
And that's sad.
Not hopeless!
But still sad.

Learned...
from being homeless,
i learned the value of home!
from being hungry,
i learned the value of being fed.
from being sick,
i learned the value of health.
from being left alone,
i learned the value of love.
from being confined in a cell,
i learned the value of freedom.
from being persecuted,
i learned the value of human rights.
from being an infidel,
i learned to see the face of god...

I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed.

The Sound Of Wings.....
from the bars of the cell,
i learned freedom from the body.
from the underside of the bridge,
i learned home has not a house.
from forty years of working,
i learned the bitterness of the slave.
from the political lies,
i learned that truth cant be bought.
from the books i read,
i learned to reason and question.
from the heroin needle,
i learned the value of life.
from love lost,
i learned how to love.
from doubt i learned seeking,
in seeking i found god to be more.
from the scars on my heart,
i learned to be a man.
from battles fought and lost,
i learned the need for peace.
from discrimination i learned equality,
from anger i learned forgiveness.
from the mirror i learned responsibility...
from the bars of the cell,
i learned the sound of wings!

The Fighter
don't ever give up, don't ever give in
you're a fighter you will win.
there will be obstacles put in your way
but you will move them, they will not stay.
look at the battles that lie ahead
and find the path that you will tread.
set your goal in your mind
open all the doors until you find
the door that leads you to the light
and with GODS help you'll know it's right.
perseverance and determination
is what saved our nation.
from our civil war we learned to unite
and overcame all obstacles within our sight.
so you must do the same
as our forefathers
had done before.
if you want to settle the score.
fight everything that comes your way
if in this world you want to stay.
some doors will open
and many will close
but that part of life
will keep you on your toes.
you are a fighter and be proud of that
for there is no turning back

First Year University Expereinces
I learned why it is not wise to skip class often
I learned that skipping homework in university is not the same as skipping homework in high school
I learned what it feels like to be awake for over 2 days
I learned how to smoke pot from a bong
I learned how to compose an essay the day before it's due
I learned that the Freshman 15 is no joke
I learned how to do laundry
I learned to pretend to be happy
I learned to multitask
I learned to be more sociable
I learned why my parents and teachers warned me about the difficulty of university
I learned that failing is expensive
I learned small things, like freshly washed bed sheets, make me happy
I learned to lie
I learned how expensive alcohol is
I learned what it feels like to be a failure
I type this rant while skipping my business ethics class as I further delay the composition of my psychology term paper

I've learned
Ive learned that to love someone doesnt have to involve pain,
Ive learned that to have a friend you must be a friend first,
Ive learned that in time youll see your mistakes and learn from them,
Ive learned that to be alone sometimes is the best thing for you,
Ive learned that in order to love a person you must feel loved,
Ive learned that if your wrong admit it or youll never forgive yourself,
Ive learned that your first love will be a part of you and you may never forget,
Ive learned that in order to move on you must fix what was first wrong,
Ive learned that if you ever mess up, you can always start over again,
Ive learned that to be 'cool' doesnt involve pressure,
Ive learned to accept what I have and be happy,
Ive learned that people will come and go so tell the ones you love how you feel,
Ive learned that to respect yourself you must respect others,
Ive learned that your actions always involve consequences whether it be good or bad,
Ive learned that priceless words can mean the world to someone,
Ive learned that sometimes being silent is the best solution,
Ive learned to expect the unexpected,
Ive learned that healing a broken heart involves tears and pain,
Ive learned to see the world in the eyes of others,
And Ive learned that each new day is a day to touch a life.

I Could Write A Book
A b c d e f g
I never learned to spell,
At least not well.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
I never learned to count,
A great amount.
But my busy mind is burning to use what learning Ive got,
I wont waste any time,
Ill strike while the iron is hot.
If they asked me, I could write a book
About the way you walk, and whisper, and look.
I could write a preface
On how we met
So the world would never forget.
And the simple secret of the plot
Is just to tell them that I love you a lot.
And the world discovers
As my book ends,
How to make two lovers
Of friends.
And the simple secret of the plot
Is just to tell them that I love you a lot.
And the world discovers
As my book ends,
How to make two lovers
Of friends.

Learning
Think for yourself also win also lose,
A recipe I make for you to cook,
A learned cake from sweetest curds,
Some friendly book which keeps look.
I am learning everything as the best book can,
Which is all you need to know, for all to actually
Learn.
And learning is good.

What I Learned Today
What I learned today is that there will be a tomorrow,
what I learned today is the truth is full of pain and sorrow.
What I learned yesterday is people make mistakes,
what I learned yesterday is I will do whatever it takes.
What I learned Saturday when i watched you leave I take back
what I said, what I learned Saturday is when we fought i dread.
What I learned now is that part of my heart is gone,
what I learned now is you will no longer wake me up at dawn.
It is quiet with out you,
I feel I have many things to do.

Not A Photocopy Or A Transparency
I do not need an answered survey,
To review responses...
As if I do not know details or understand,
What my life has been like.
And first hand.
I've known each day,
About those obstacles that have come my way.
And what it is I must do.
And who it is I must fight!
Forget those graphs with statistics crafted.
My eyes have been wide open,
Despite of outsiders...
Giving their opinions to convince others,
Information gathered...
Is a life I've known to live,
Whether wrong or right.
I've lived my life and not in hiding.
Day and night,
And for a number of years.
I am not a photocopy or a transparency.
Every emotion I feel is real,
Here inside of me.
And when I get upset with my feelings hurt...
It is up to me to know,
To what degree I've got to heal.
I do not need an answered survey,
To review responses...
As if I do not know or understand,
What my life has been like.
And first hand.
I've known each day,
About those obstacles that have come my way.
And what it is I must do.
And who it is I must fight!
Everyday since my birth,
Here on Earth...
I've observed and felt and grew.
And all of the experiences I have obtained...
I've learned more than one lesson!
I've learned quite a few.
And with each day I am blessed to live,
God has granted me the wisdom...
To know what it is,
And what it takes...
For me to succeed and complete,
Whatever it is that I must do to feel upbeat.
I am not on the sidelines,
Observing to be entertained.
I am an active participant and involved...
No matter who says what,
Or with unsolicited authority...
May say or claim!
I am 'me'.
Regardless of those labels attached to my name.

Why.............?
The American book of 'why',
The Asian book of 'why',
The European book of 'why',
The African book of 'why',
The Australian book of 'why',
The most asked question in the valley of world events;
Especially when one explodes a bomb!
The Christian book of 'why',
The Muslim book of 'why',
The Jewish book of 'why',
The Hindu book of 'why',
The Krishna book of 'why',
lLife is like the yeast which makes the bread rise;
But, the writer always has his or her own mind.
The Pagan book of 'why',
The Buddhist book of 'why',
The Protestant book of 'why',
The Confucian book of 'why',
To all life's aspects with the remaining books of 'why';
Poetry is the literature that muses with the mind.
Shall the trumpet be blown in the city and,
The people will not be afraid?
Seven bulls and seven rams,
I am the planted tree by the rivers of waters.
I am very young in years but,
The word 'why' is the question that goes around easily.

I Have Learned
I had been told 'never' to say never.
And for as long as I lived,
I will learn a 'never' said will return.
And I found that to be true.
I have learned to focus and remain conscious.
Never to keep repeating the same mistakes.
I have learned,
The giving of oneself...
Opens the door to heartache.
I have learned,
Forgiveness for some...
Means a forgetting for them to what they've done.
I have learned,
A revolving door...
Revolves not solve solutions.
I have learned,
A no does not mean yes...
To a depleting of my happiness.
I have learned,
Never to allow my peace of mind...
To be plucked by anyone wishing to get on my nerves.
I have learned,
THAT!
And 'that' aint gon' happen no mo'!
Never.
