Resting on your laurels is as dangerous as resting when you are walking in the snow. You doze off and die in your sleep.

Let me keep watch
Let me keep watch
Over your body when
You are resting in peace.
Let me sacrifice
My meditation to you
When you are resting in peace
Let me protect your body
From rotting
When you are resting in peace.
Let me protect your memories
And dreamless dreams
When you are resting in peace.
Let me plant a fruit tree
Above you that I may still eat
When you are resting in peace.
Let me storm the gates of heaven
When you are resting in peace.
Let me give you oblation
Of our experience
When you are resting in peace.
Let me breathe for you
When you are resting in peace.
Let me douse the fires of hell
When you are resting in peace.
Let me glorify your name
When you are resting in peace.
Let me be your counterpoint
When you are resting in peace.
Let me overcome the light
When you are resting in peace.
Let me touch your organs
When you are resting in peace.
Let me drink your water
When you are resting in peace.
Let me describe your bones
When you are resting in peace.
Let me dream your dreams
When you are resting in peace.

Afterglow (Of Your Love)
Love
Love is all around me everywhere
Love has come to touch my soul
With someone who really cares
No one can denounce
People who once passed me by
Just turn their heads 'round
I'm happy just to be with you
And lovin' you the way I do
'Cause everything I need to know
Just resting in the afterglow of your love
You have always been
A feeling deep inside
A feeling that I could not see or touch or try to hide
My love is deep and drowns you
I bless the day that I found you
So listen baby
I'm happy just to be with you
And lovin' you the way I do
'Cause everything I need to know
Just resting in the afterglow of your love
Love is like a voice in my head
Keeps turning 'round the things that I'm saying
I'm happy just to be with you
And lovin' you the way I do
'Cause everything I need to know
Just resting in the afterglow of your love
I'm happy just to be with you
And lovin' you the way I do
'Cause everything I need to know
Just resting in the afterglow of your love
I'm happy just to be with you
And lovin' you the way I do
'Cause everything I need to know
Just resting in the afterglow of your love

Here With Me
I didn't hear you leave
I wonder how am I still here
And I don't want to move a thing
It might change my memory
[Chorus:]
Oh I am what I am
I'll do what I want
But I can't hide
I won't go
I won't sleep
I can't breathe
Until you're resting here with me
I won't leave
I can't hide
I cannot be
Until you're resting here with me
I don't want to call my friends
They might wake me from this dream
And I can't leave this bed
Risk forgetting all that's been
[Chorus ]

A Friend Passing
Resting by the road
Open to the sky
Watching for the birds
And whatever else goes by
Resting by the road
Listening for the rain
Would have made better time
Except for needing the cane
It helps me to get along
Sometimes gets in my way
Just like my friend
With whom I used to share the day

Those Below Us
there is only one possibility
for those below us
they go up the ladder of this
illusion
and we who are up
bears all the fears of going down
the drain or if we are not vigilant at all
resting on our laurels
feasting with the angels
soon we find ourselves
falling
finally crushed by the trains of
our thoughts long
insecure

Silence Is Gold

Sparse wheeling unfelt in doze

Word Reaches Us
Word reaches us
that you are sleeping, sleeping.
Dismayed
we have turned to the sea.
We encounter among others
walking there
a sense of what we have lost:
the broad expanse of humanity’s
sensitivity to the oneness of itself.
Gabrielle,
while you sleep, resting your nimble
brain, we think of walking with you
in the valley
of the shadow of death; holding
you up.
We hope you can feel our grief;
our sorrow vast
like the ocean that draws us.
We know in this moment you teach us many things:
how all across the world
there is no one who deserves this fate.
We know we must bleach and sterilize our
tongues,
brighten with understanding
all our dark thoughts.
Sister, whom I never met
except in this pain that has so
wounded you
thank you for reminding us
through your suffering
and your suspenseful sleep
that we must change.

Hit and Run!
A severe damage to my floating soul
You're a haughty the sky flower
Belongs to Paradise,
And how do I proceed for legal obligations
Or contact a Lawyer?
All are in the Heaven
And I am a poor vagabond
An alien to this misery World?
But I would like to have a 'Civil Compromise.'
*People who are resting on their laurels are wearing them on the wrong end.

50-Year Old
Stpidity personified! !
A 50-year old man raped a 9-year old girl,
And the volatility of this case matters to me;
But i will rather rest my head on my pillow and sleep.
One step for a man through the narrow gate,
And related o the scrutinized facts on the table;
But my head is still resting on my pillow because of,
The dangerous misconception of the higher ranks.
To mutter or not to,
And grapping with the facts like the rainbow;
But what is this world up to?

Death's Time Comes Shy
Never resting;
Time!
The silver arm
bleeds silver:
blood.
Death beckons
Cries. Cuts.
CALM.
Death hides,
waits...
Always watching.
Never resting.
Time. Time.
TIME.
Darkening Shadows
Flower drifts to gentle sleep
The world is resting

Billys Bones
Billy ran around with the rare old crew
And he knew an arsenal from tottenham blue
Wed be a darn sight better of if we knew
Where billys bones are resting now
Billy saw a copper and he hit him in the knee
And he took him down from six foot to five foot three
Then he hit him fair and square in the do-re-mi
That copper wont be having any family
Hey billy son where are you now
Dont you know that we need you now
With a ra-ta-ta and the old kow-tow
Where are billys bones resting now
Billy went away with the peace-keeping force
cause he liked a bloody good fight of course
Went away in an old khaki van to the banks of the river jordan
Billy saw the arabs and he had em on the run
When he got em in the range of his sub-machine gun
Then he had the israelis in his sights, went a ra-ta-ta
And they ran like shiites
Hey billy son where are you now
Dont you know that we need you now
With a ra-ta-ta and the old kow-tow
Where are billys bones resting now
One night billy had a rare old time,
Laughing and singing on the lebanon line
Came back to camp not looking too pretty
Never even got to see the holy city
Now billys out there in the desert sun
And his mother cries when the morning comes
And theres mothers crying all over this world
For their poor dead darling boys and girls
Hey billy son where are you now
Dont you know that we need you now
With a ra-ta-ta and the old kow-tow
Where are billys bones resting now
Have a billy holiday
Born on a monday
Married on a tuesday
Drunk on a wednesday
Got plugged on a thursday
Sick on a friday
Died on a saturday
Buried on a sunday

Sound Like A Melody
it's a trick of my mind
to faces bathing in the screenlight
she's so soft and warm in my arms
i tune it into the scene
my hand are resting on her shoulders
when we're dancing away for a while
oh, we're moving, we're falling, we step into the fire
by the hour of the wolf in a midnight dream
there's no reason to hurry, just start that brand new story
set it alight, we're head over heels in love
head over heels
the ringing of your laughter it sounds like a melody
to once forbidden places we'll go for a while
it's the definite show
our shadows resting in the moonlight
it's so clear and bright in your eyes
it's the touch of your sighs
my lips are resting on your shoulder
when we're moving so soft and slow
we need the extasy, the jelousy, the comedy of love
like the cary grants and kellys once before
give me more tragedy, more harmony and phantasy, my love
and set it alight, just starting that satellite
set it alight

Geese Park
Geese Park,
Resting Place,
In Accra;
And, the President of Ghana,
John Evans Atta Mills was laid to rest.
Geese, peacocks, pigeons, doves and docks!
In a clean envirinment to pay their respect;
But, with a big pond around under tight security.
Face out of sand,
Words out of mind,
Works out of hands;
With mourners dressed in Red and Black! !
And, his resting place was at the Geese Park.

Encounter drop
mixed feeling
crush the emotional
distressed
with a resting
pebble of diamond jewels
of style hoping
that every inch
of failure the day
is over
Dear like
a lasting rainbow
of the clouds, where
nothing left
but a hope that beautiful
dream will
render echo of
loving perfume smell
of happiness
lead me where
you begin and touch
the resting
soul of beauty and the oasis
of the droplets moist
haul the sweet memories
I leave
find and step forward
my Darling...

Down In The Deep
Way down, down in the deep
how many a sailor went to sleep?
Some in ships that were wrecked in a storm,
some in vessels that now do form
abodes for fish to swim all around.
Down in the deep at the bottom of its ground.
Way down, down in the deep
how many travelers went to sleep?
Some in planes that crashed in the sea,
strapped in their seats, not floating free.
The sea became their final resting place
down in the deep without a trace.
Way down, down in the deep
How many fishermen went to sleep?
Some in boats loaded with their catch,
Time had come when the sea became their match.
But, fishermen are in love with the big blue deep.
And so it is down in the deep that they sleep.

Simple Fight
Simple men destined for fancy fights
Find the treasure chests
In their evening rest
Frowning on the cuddly toys
In an eventual rest.
I have some resting to speak about,
Fines are startling me in a final elixir,
Finding arts and their principles
After too many years,
And men could hear the fighting.
This resting settlement is a settlement,
Villages start to rock and righteously rock
When strenuously fighting with other rocks.
I have no rest in sight,
I am simpler than the ritualistic days
After my death,
After my life.
