Christmas Ornaments
10/23/10
There is a Christmas ornament that can not be seen
It is a hidden Christmas ornament between you and me.
It is not an ornament that you can hang from a tree
This ornament lives in our hearts
And like a crystal it can be torn apart.
It is as soft and as beautiful as any you’d see on a tree
But the difference is, it’s between you and me.
This ornament is a symbol of our love
And it is not man made, but it is something
That we could take to our graves.
This ornament has more colors than a rainbow
And it’s worth much more than gold.
It is something that we feel
Not something that we hold.
I join my hands together and stretch them
Out towards you, there is nothing laying there
That can be seen by the naked eye
But if you look deep- my heart you will find.
So to all people- let this be the gift that we share
For all the world to see.
The beauties “that are within you and me“.
it is something that you can not mold or bend
For it is heaven sent.

Modesty
A show of modesty,
From one brave to pave a way...
Is someone who has strength.
With a purpose known meant.
Experiencing those obstacles,
And having them not show...
Leaves very little to say,
By those who live their lives delayed.
Since a modesty seems to be freed,
When pains once had are over.
And unconditional,
Is the love.
And a modesty seems to be freed,
When one like this recovers knowing...
Life has its ups,
And its downs.
And...
Showing modesty,
Can be worn...
Without a frown.
A show of modesty,
From one brave to pave a way...
Is someone who has strength.
With a purpose known meant.
Showing modesty,
Is a gift that's heaven sent.
One knowing modesty,
Doesn't carry that they've had regrets.

Fidelity to conscience is inconsistent with retiring modesty. If it be so, let the modesty succumb. It can be only a false modesty which can be thus endangered.

Guardian Angel
Be my guard just for tonight, that is all Im asking for
Take me under your wing, I cant make it anymore
I am so full of fear, may you read a book to me
And when the shadows grow wont you stay with me
Will you be my guard tonight. that is all Im asking for
Will you be my guard tonight, that is all I need to know
Be my guard beside my bed, that is all I need to know
Will you please hold my hand, dont you ever let it go
All the wonders of the world for a little second more
I cant speak but cant you see, its your touch Im crying for
Will you be my guard tonight. that is all Im asking for
Will you be my guard tonight, that is all I need to know
Be my guard just until dawn, when I can hear the birds again
Im as helpless as can be, will you guard my little flame
If we never meet again, you shall always keep in mind
That you were my guard tonight, that you were my guard tonight
Will you be my guard tonight. . .

To a Snail
If "compression is the first grace of style,"
you have it. Contractility is a virtue
as modesty is a virtue.
It is not the acquisition of any one thing
that is able to adorn,
or the incidental quality that occurs
as a concomitant of something well said,
that we value in style,
but the principle that is hidden:
in the absence of feet, "a method of conclusions";
"a knowledge of principles,"
in the curious phenomenon of your occipital horn.

I do not believe in sex distinction in literature, law, politics, or trade - or that modesty and virtue are more becoming to women than to men, but wish we had more of it everywhere.

Bragging Modesty
Why boast modesty? Wasn't handpicked
Bragging seems silly, when was obligation strict.
Posing wise on patterns borrowed by others
Followed a code & custom, or advise by mothers.
Justifying tartness, when Grapes felt sour
Choice will be different, when given some power.
Sour now bad and 'the grapes weren't mine'
Go with flock, is their new punch line.
Decency is out; it's Vanity that's in
Advance WE are, hold up the chin.
(Dear) Modesty is a virtue but its flaunting isn't smart
Simple or Not, be honest with all heart.

When virtue and modesty enlighten her charms, the lustre of a beautiful woman is brighter than the stars of heaven, and the influence of her power it is in vain to resist.
Because impudence is a vice, it does not follow that modesty is a virtue; it is built upon shame, a passion in our nature, and may be either good or bad according to the actions performed from that motive.

Never did I ever
Never did i ever,
Imagine myself in arms,
Arms of a noble woman,
Noble woman of virtue,
Virtue with courtesy and modesty,
So tender is your touch,
So sweet is your presence
Never did i ever,
Thought life could be like this,
This, happy and galdness,
Gladness echoed by your breath,
Your breath enriched with care,
You are the pride of my eyes,
The embodiment of beauty
Never did i ever,
Imagine my lips reaching yours,
Never did i ever,
Imagine someone meeting somebody,
Never did i ever,
Imagine us,
Together forever

I had a heartbreaking experience when I was 9. I always wanted to be a guard. The most wonderful girl in the world was a guard. When I got polio and then went back to school, they made me a guard. A teacher took away my guard button.

Her Ornament
never really meant to volunteer
felt the urge to stretch after a yawn
and accidentally raised my hand
i just want to be her special
someone who will never pioneer
i prefer to watch the mudd break off her heels
and turn into cement
i just want to be her ornament
her shadow seems much cooler
camouflage myself
and plan a splendid entrance
i just want to be her situation pending expectation...
i just want to be her ornament
i never really meant to volunteer
i fought the urge to stretch after a yawn
and accidentally lost my head
i just want to be her exploitation and abbreviation...
i just want to be her ornament

Education is a companion which no misfortune can depress, no crime can destroy, no enemy can alienate,no despotism can enslave. At home, a friend, abroad, an introduction, in solitude a solace and in society an ornament. It chastens vice, it guides virtue, it gives at once grace and government to genius. Without it, what is man A splendid slave, a reasoning savage.
