Finally, I am encouraged to note that the Security Council issued a statement today expressing its concern about the massive humanitarian crisis in Darfur and calling on all parties to the conflict to protect civilians and reach a ceasefire.

So-called humanitarian corridors or other measures aimed at providing respite to those affected by conflict must be well planned and implemented with the agreement of the parties to the conflict. Regardless of whether humanitarian corridors are implemented in the coming days, parties must continue to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure under international humanitarian law both for those who choose to leave and those who remain.

Say a Prayer for Darfur (Revised)
Say a Prayer for Darfur (Revised) (Warning for Mature Audience, violence depicted)
Darfur, yesterday,
Cozy, thatched huts,
Shining in the sun, nestled in the sand.
Darfur, yesterday,
Brightly-garbed, graceful women, friendly, strong men.
And the children…
The children,
Running and leaping,
Playing and laughing.
Today, a grinning skull
Hangs like the moon,
Over a gutted Darfur.
For Death came to Darfur,
Draped with murder and mayhem,
Wrapped in hate, lusting for power, land and oil…
Death came to Darfur,
On the backs of camels, driving trucks,
Wielding fire, sticks, bullets and bombs.
Today, behold, Darfur,
Burned, charred huts, starving children,
Dead bodies baking in the sun,
Untold numbers of women raped,
A tiny baby beaten to death,
Rumors of school children being burned alive!
Villagers locked in their huts and cremated, alive.
Children with noses cut off and eyes pulled out,
The village of Labado lies like an agonized, charred corpse.
Come, weep with me,
Pray with me,
For Death camps in Darfur!

Darfur - A Mouthful Of Silence
Darfur – Mouthful of Silence
Darfur hangs under clouds so dark and dense
The world helplessly watching makes no sense
The people there are scared and at their wits end
Murder, rape, robbery, mayhem, knows no end
As the world gives a well intentioned call
There are no results to stop this mad ball
While Darfur reels in a saga of violence
Why the world shows its 'mouthful of silence”?
If we do not act to break this hell on earth
If we do not break our “seeming” silence
If we do not rise now above our own selfish call
The Darfur like violence will one day, engulf us all

Aruba Is for Many Out Of Reach
Life once had us running to the bank.
Banking on the prospect,
That investments in a future...
Would produce security.
Security fantasized,
To feed those whims and needs...
Afforded to please.
We believed that banking,
Was then a safe direction...
For a quality of life,
Respected to protect..
In quality ease!
If this was yesterday...
It would be okay,
To think about Aruba...
And snoozing on the beach.
If 'this' was yesterday...
We'd put our dimes away.
But unlike those yesterdays...
Today pinching dimes,
Gets rent timely paid!
If this was yesterday,
It would be okay...
To think about Aruba!
Just to snooze on the beach.
And...
Oiling heated skin,
Rubbing sand off our feet.
If 'this' was yesterday...
We'd put our dimes away.
But unlike those yesterdays...
A rent that's needed to be paid,
Is just a pinch away.
And today Aruba,
Is for many out of reach.
Because today Aruba,
Is a dream hard to keep!
If this was yesterday,
It would be okay...
To think about Aruba!
Just to snooze on the beach.
And...
Oiling heated skin,
Rubbing sand off our feet.
If 'this was yesterday...
We'd put our dimes away.
But unlike those yesterdays...
The rent is pinched to pay!
We wanted a retirement,
Reflected in ease.
Lazy in Aruba,
On a Sun drenching beach.
If this was yesterday,
It would be okay...
To think about Aruba!
As we snoozed the day away.
If 'this was yesterday...
We'd put those dimes away.
But unlike those yesterdays...
The rent is pinched to pay!
We wanted a retirement,
Reflected in ease.
Lazy in Aruba,
On a Sun drenching beach.
If this was yesterday,
It would be okay...
To think about Aruba!
And snoozing on the beach.
If this was yesterday,
It would be okay...
To think about Aruba!
And snoozing on the beach.
If this was yesterday,
It would be okay...
To think about Aruba!
And snoozing on the beach.
But unlike those yesterdays,
Aruba's out of reach.
If this was yesterday,
We'd put our dimes away!
If this was yesterday,
We'd put our dimes away!
If this was yesterday,
We'd put our dimes away!
To save up for retirement,
And feeling okay.
If this was yesterday,
We'd put our dimes away!
If this was yesterday,
We'd put our dimes away!
If this was yesterday,
We'd put our dimes away!
But today's not yesterday.
Today we pinch to pay!
Today is not yesterday.
Today we pinch to pay!
Today is not yesterday.
Today we pinch to pay!
Forgettin' 'bout Aruba.
Today we pinch to pay!
Forgettin' 'bout Aruba.
Today we pinch to pay!
Today we pinch to pay!
Forgettin' 'bout Aruba.
Pinching pennies not to save!
Pinching everything,
For a rent to get paid!
You've got to feel it,
Ooo...
The risk that we take,
Pinching everything,
For a rent to get paid!
You've got to feel it,
Ooo...
The risk that we take,
Pinching everything,
For a rent to get paid!
You've got to feel it,
Ooo...
The risk that we take.
You've got to feel it,
Ooo...
The risk that we take.
Pinching everything,
For a rent to get paid!
NOTE:
I had been torn been which title
to use. Sooo...there are TWO.

2. Lazy In Aruba

Statement Crisis
Do we have statement crisis?
So much stress and word emphasis,
Surely to deepen in days to come,
Not always you will find welcome,
Careful preparation and final statement,
Seconds after sorry and lament,
Asking excuse for “no more comment”
Is it the way to offer treatment?
Immediately rise and quick to react,
Retracing steps and fails to act,
What is worrying as matter of fact?
Lack of will power or clever tact,
We will teach a lesson and not sit idle,
Never have we threatened or affairs meddle,
Right path on which to paddle,
Showing apathy later on and not able,
No one can force or exert pressure,
Words may be heavy but we always assure,
Not knowing what we are speaking for sure,
This is lacuna, for which we have no cure,
We have freedom of speech,
No one should come and teach,
No need for any more preach,
We always disregard and breach,
Statement no crisis for humble submission,
After all doesn’t amount guilt admission,
Sometimes tongue may slip as do the season,
No cause of worry for any reasons

Home Calling
Home is calling,
trying to reach out to me.
The journey is over,
the war have met its end,
home is calling.
I will answer your call,
i will deliver your message to the most distant part of the world because i am your own.
Yours is so far fetch,
reaching out to the soul of the broken hearted,
i have wielded my mantle,
i have played my parts,
its time to respond to my home calling.
Like a burst of laughter amidst faces full of tears,
i will rejoice wholeheartedly to my home calling.
My heart is anxious,
my feet is ready,
the journey is set and my destination is precised.
Its so hard leaving you behind my love,
like a love song sang amidst foes,
am constantly heavy with your thought.
My home is calling me,
the beauty of its splendor is unbeatable,
i will cry no more for my home has finally found me,
let the earth rejoice once more because her son has finally respond to her home calling.

Regret That Is Unrelenting
If I had known...
A hint or clue,
You were rushing to see me.
I would not have grown impatient.
But last I saw you...
It was you.
You were the one,
Who had lost your patience.
In one single breath...
You left!
It pains me now,
To know we could have met...
To forgive and forget.
I did come back...
To find a note,
Expressing your sorrow.
Expressing a loneliness...
I had felt,
Hungering in sleeplessness...
That greeted me in my emptiness.
You said you understood.
And you would be gone,
For good.
How could you?
I would reach out.
Shouting for that embrace,
That now seems to have been erased...
By bad timing.
I am now the one pining for you.
Intensely yearning.
With a regret that is unrelenting.
Moments like these I wish I could send away.
But they stay.
To beat in a rhythm my heart wants to hold,
With you again!

This inevitability of conflict motivates us today and echoes the reminder that freedom is not given away and our national security is not achieved without sacrifice.
The Un In Africa
Some little place in Africa changed dictators today,
Nobody really noticed or cared and it’s away over there,
The two dictators disagreed because there can only be one,
Is it likely that this problem was solved with a Bren gun?
Some other little places over there are having a real war,
They’re calling on the UN to quickly send the Peace Corps,
Or maybe a real army to help wipe out the other side,
But its a weekend and the UN is closed down so can’t decide.
Eventually the UN might send their Security Council crowd,
You know, the pompous crowd where Canada was not allowed,
To go and see which side is winning and maybe join in,
Or maybe not if they are not sure which side is going to win.
