Propaganda is that branch of the art of lying which consists in nearly deceiving your friends without quite deceiving your enemies.

Who Can I Trust? (1989)

Who can I trust with my deepest secrets?
Who can I trust when my world falls apart?
When everyone's lying and deceiving
Who can i trust with my heart?

Should I trust no one but myself?
To keep my life I must be circumspect.
Keeping quiet, telling no one but God,
He already knows the effect.

I'll never believe the people again,
The people who have hurt me once before.
The saddest part is I'll never be trusting
Of anyone any more.

How can I be certain that I won't be hurt?
How could someone hide themselves so well?
When everyone's lying and deceiving,
How can anyone tell?

Rumour

I listen to rumours
Stone cold and bleeding
They burn my heart away
Left me alone and afraid
Words seem to leave me
Just when I needed them
Just like I need you
Like Im supposed to do
They say:
Love is deceiving
She wont stay forever
Love is deceiving
Is all that she knows
Love is deceiving
Shell leave you forever
Love is deceiving
She comes and she goes
I wonder
I wonder
I listen to rumours
Listen to everyone
Everyone but you
And now its all too late

Nothing Achieving

Words and music by Stewart and Ian Copeland
My daddy's boots don't fit me
'Cause I'm bigger than him
He says I make him big now
I'm bigger than him
You see there's nothing worth achieving
All your dreams are just deceiving
You've locked the doors on your good living
And you told me to wait
You've got me backed into a corner
You're making me hate
I say there's nothing worth achieving
All your dreams are just deceiving
[They say there's nothing worth achieving
All your dreams are just deceiving]
Throwing stones that are reeling
>From a reasonable light
You muscle in when I have a party
Ready to fight
I say there's nothing worth achieving
All your dreams are just deceiving
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing

Deceiving World.

Try to catch,
But couldn't catch,
Seen as small and big fish,
Then too strong for their hooks,
Swimming under the new city mall,
Swimming under silver bird gallery,
Swimming under the theatre gallery
Where it called to be situated,
In the island of Nigeria Africa.
Asked where is the world,
Deceiving world its means?
Answers in illusion and delusion,
Tried but hid in tenacious pretense,
pretense of long slavery,
Pretense in standard,
Pretense of self interest,
Pretense of wickedness,
Try to catch,
Too strong for the hooks,
Seen as small and big fish,
Swimming in the island,
Swimming under Museum center,
Swimming under cultured and tour-isms,
Where its called to be situated,
In the world of blacks and white,
In the island of Africa.
Asked where is the world,
Deceiving world its means?
ILLUSION, WICKEDNESS, GREED AND HATRED founds,
Appears answers for reality,
Reality of seconds, Movement, distractions, and player hitters,
Called and seen a deceiving world,
Asked where is the world of the deceits,
At levels of a canteen,
Deceiving world at classrooms,
Deceiving world world of movement,
Deceiving world of called percussionists,
Deceiving world indeed and not fiction called.

Painted From Memory

Such a picture of loveliness
Didnt you notice the resemblance?
Doesnt it look like she could speak?
Those eyes I tried to capture
They are lost to me now forever
They smile for someone else
Funny, how looks can be deceiving
But shes not easily
Painted from memory
Youd think that I would know by now
Those eyes I tried to capture
They are lost to me now forever
They smile for someone else
And so this had to be
Painted from memory
She is gone, and I must accept it
She is lost to me now
But I cant look away just yet though
She smiles for someone else
And so this had to be
Painted from memory
Funny, now I can see
How looks can be deceiving
And so this had to be
Painted from memory
Funny, now I can see
How looks can be deceiving

Wednesday Morning

Written by gerry beckley, 1998
Found on human nature.
Wednesday morning was the last time we talked
I guess she figured it was better if she walked
It couldve been me just the same
Theres no winner in this game
Oh, wednesday morning was the last time we talked
Wednesday evening was the first time she cried
It couldve turned out different if Id lied
Something deep within us all
Sees the writing on the wall
Oh, wednesday evening we didnt talk at all
Ive been waiting every evening
Wondering what Im gonna say
Sometimes life can be deceiving
Wednesday wont go away
It couldve been me just the same
Theres no winner in this game
Oh, wednesday evening and nothing is the same
(oh) Ive been waiting every evening
Wondering what Im gonna say
Sometimes life can be deceiving
Wednesday wont go away
Wednesday morning, yeah
Sometimes life can be deceiving
Wednesday wont go away
Ive been waiting every evening
Wondering what Im gonna say
Sometimes life can be deceiving
Wednesday wont go away, yeah
Wednesday morning, yeah
Sometimes life can be deceiving
Wednesday wont go away
Wednesday morning, yeah

Does He Love You

(sandy knox, billy stritch)
Reba:
I've known about you
For a while now
When he leaves me
He wears a smile now
As soon as he's away from me
In your arms is where he wants to be
Linda:
But you're the one he rushes home to
You're the one he gave his name to
I never see his face
In the early morning light
You have his mornings, his daytime, and sometimes i have his nights
Reba:
But does he love you
Linda:
Does he love you
Reba:
Like he loves me
Linda:
Like he loves me
Reba:
Does he think of you
Linda:
Does he think of you
Reba & linda:
When he's holding me
Reba:
And does he whisper
Linda:
Does he whisper
Reba & linda:
All his fantasies
Reba:
Does he love you
Linda:
Does he love you
Reba & linda:
Like he's been loving me
Linda:
But when he's with me
He says he needs me
And that he wants me
That he believes in me
Reba:
And when i'm in his arms
Oh he swears there's no one else
Is he deceiving me
Or am i deceiving myself
Linda:
Am i deceiving myself
Repeat chorus
Reba:
I should not lose my temper
Linda:
I should not be ashamed
Reba:
Cause i have eveything to lose
Linda:
And i, i have nothing to gain
Repeat chorus
Reba:
Oh, does he love you

Earned Happiness

From the day we first met,
I offered no pretense.
No attempts did I try,
To make for you a good first impression.

I learned very early in life,
To be 'me' without adornments.
And if that was not acceptable...
A connection was not meant!

From the day we first met,
I discussed with you my interests.
And they haven't changed from what they were.
They are the same today as is preferred.

But somehow you believe,
I have been deceiving.
When it has been you all this time...
Wasting mine playing hide and seek.

Somehow you believe,
I have been deceiving...
When all that I am,
Has been a public acknowledgement.

And that is why I live my life,
Free to be me.
With flaws and all to be addressed.
Leaving little to interfere with my earned happiness.

Hey...
To declare oneself to be free,
Is all the freedom one needs to experience it.

Some People Peek At Evil

Look at me I wish to resist evil.
I don't want a piece of it to sit near me.
I've got to rid deceiving people...
Smiling at me like I'm fit to eat!

Look at me I wish to resist evil.
None of evil do I want near me
Some people peek at evil through their keyholes.
With beliefs I see as much naïve!

Look at me I wish to resist evil.
It doesn't fit,
Acquit me from it please.
I've got to rid deceiving people.
Those who trick and think I treat.

Some people peek at evil through their keyholes.
With beliefs I see as much naive!
I've got to rid deceiving people.
Those who trick and think I treat.

Look at me,
Look at me resist evil.
With every bit of strength I've got.

Look at me,
Look at me...
Resist.
With every bit of strength I've got.

Look at me,
Look at me...
Resisting.
With every bit of strength I've got.
I've split from evil and that's it.

He's Far From Dead

He's far from dead his heart is ticking
Although he looks like one near death
No he's very much alive and kicking
There's lots of living in him yet.

He may be in his early seventies
And he may look skinny, gray and pale
But looks can often be deceiving
And he's not ill though he looks frail.

He has a thing for younger women
And at them he never fails to smile
And they say he's such a lovely old chap
And they always buy into his guile.

A man is old when at women he stops looking
But to him that hardly does apply
And though he may look old, wrinkled and weary
He is not ready yet to die.

He fancies women than him decades younger
And women of his own age he ignore
One mature lady to him takes a fancy
But he feels she's too old for him at sixty four.

He may look old and on his last legs
With one foot almost in the grave
But looks in his case are deceiving
And for some-one else your pity save.

Make Me Know It

(words & music by otis blackwell)
You say that you love me
And swear it to be true
But if you care to come over here
And make me know it do
Come on now, make me know it
Then go ahead and show it
But if you care to come over here
And make me know it do
You say youve got kisses
And swear that theyre brand new
I think thats fine if you aint lyin
But make me know it do
Come on now, make me know it
Then go ahead and show it
I think thats fine if you aint lyin
But make me know it do
You wont have no trouble proving it to me
Come right along youll find me
Helpful as can be
You say you wanna hold me
And stick to me like glue
Well hearings deceiving
And seeings believing
Make me know it do
Come on now, make me know it
Well go ahead and show it
I say hearings deceiving
Seeings believing
Make me know it do
You wont have no trouble proving it to me
Come right along youll find me
Helpful as can be
You say you wanna hold me
And stick to me like glue
Well hearings deceiving
And seeings believing
Make me know it do
Come on now, make me know it
Well go ahead and show it
I say hearings deceiving

As If A Needed Must To Have Is Trusted

When one begins to establish a history
One's choice to be deceiving,
Does not mean those activities go unseen...
To be disbelieved.

When one begins to establish a history,
Misdeeds like these...
Clarifies one's identity.
Packaged within an unmistakable personality!

And why this is a mystery to one so obvious,
Can not be explained.
Even though a pattern has been created,
That maintains its sameness.

When one begins to establish a history
One's choice to be deceiving,
Does not mean those activities go unseen...
To be disbelieved.

And accepting environment,
Has a way of making anything tolerated!
Even one's disgust becomes tradition.
As if a needed must to have is trusted.

Great Hate Comes From Great Love

Everyone kneels as you walk into the room,
It seems as if you’re made of gloom.
Mist for body, shadows for clothes,
Who you are everybody knows.
I kneel with the crowd, to my dismay,
I hate kneeling but I must obey.
You smile like a gracious host,
But you’re really just a dark ghost.

You signal us to rise and for that I’m thankful,
I hate feeling like I’m your fool.
You come to me and shake my hand,
“‘We’re all friends here’, understand? ”
“No, we’re enemies”, replies me,
You are an ugly creature, don’t you see?
The ghostly king takes my hand,
And leads me outside to a stand.

He turns me to him, I feel horrified,
But with a troubled look he only sighed.
“My dear subject, why do you hate me so?
I’ve never harmed you, yet I’m your foe”
I feel nonplussed, why is he acting kind?
Why isn’t the monster blowing my mind?
I’m in astonishment as I’m swept off my feet,
He’s picked me up; does that mean I’m beat?

The ghost walks me through his garden at midnight,
I see jasmines and roses and lilies, what a sight!
I forget the position, of which we stand,
For I’m safe inside this monster’s hands.
At last he puts me down and smiles at me
And a monster is no longer what I see.
I can see the kindness within his eyes,
I can see that all I believed were lies.

“Looks are deceiving” he says with a smile,
Well, he sure made this time worth my while!
Looks aren’t deceiving, for I can see he is beautiful,
It shines in his smile and I can see I was a fool.
I look down and I’m also a ghost,
No longer set in the way of most.
I take my merry monster’s hand and we go back inside,
The kindness in my friend’s eyes is now where I reside.

Hypocrite

Did you think I was so stupid I was really gonna cry
Did you think I was so stupid I was gonna let you try
To crawl inside me with your twisted little lies
And let you find your way into my mind
I nearly........cried, I nearly......died
Did you ever try to cross your heart and hope to die?
Did you ever try to cross your heart and hope to die?
So one day there was a moment you made me realize
That velvet words coming from your mouth are filled with poisoned lies
The worst thing that I could do was to put my trust in you
I wish I lost you there and then, never to be seen again
Never again, never again
Let me see your lying, deceiving, cheating , pretentious face
Let me wipe that charming, deceitful, cunning grin of your face
Ive seen people just like you
Deceiving people just like me
It always ends in misery
It always turns to hostility
Your loss becomes my gain
Your loss becomes my gain
Did you ever try to cross your heart and hope to die?
Did you ever try to cross your heart and hope to die?
Hope to die, hope to die
Ive given you my friendship , my friendship you betrayed
The more I get to know you, the less I want to know
I dont want to see you, Im feeling whole again
I m feeling whole again
Did you ever try to cross your heart and hope to die ?
If you ever tried you would have realized
That youre the one that I despise
That youre the one that I despise

Deception (Sorrow Poem)

The guilty truth is we choose to deceive,
Sometimes to please, sometimes to win,
From our five hundred Facebook friends,
To that convenient little lie on our own CV.

And we think ourselves the un-guilty ones.
Why, I wonder, do we succeed in deceiving
The deceiver in this manner? Is it because,
We are at heart black both inside and out?

Mythomaniac

The words stumble from her lying
Mouth while her obtuse mind struggles
For likely continuity.
In due course the lie emerges
Full-blown, ready for deceiving
An innocent, unsuspecting
Host singled-out as the target.
This pathological liar
Fabricates the fundamentals
In a way that’s favorable
To her in case she is challenged.
There is no motive to look for
Because there really isn’t one.
She must lie and she’s good at it.

Perpetuating A Cause

Perpetuating that one myth of old, with roots so deceptively bold,
Exalting man above God’s Grace, and putting man in God’s place.
With its roots going back to when, Satan began deceiving all men,
Raising the heart’s desires of man, well above their Creator’s plan.

Satan’s lie from way back then, is still deceiving the minds of men,
He fills men’s heart with such pride, so The Word of God is denied.
As he seduces the natural mind, causing men to be spiritually blind,
Creating no need for Christ at all, as Satan fuels man’s spiritual fall.

Satan spins a creative web of lies, making men think they are wise,
But only in their own eyes, as the things of God they soon despise.
These men become quite arrogant, ignoring all things God has sent,
Those things being God’s Holy Word, and the other warnings heard.

So then Satan creates alternatives, guiding how the unbeliever lives,
Counterfeit plans created by him, plans which are full of wicked sin.
And this sin hardens one’s heart, so from The Lord men truly depart,
To then be used by that Evil One, as opposition to God’s Own Son.

As Satan inspires many a cause, all to mislead those spiritually lost,
Saying that it’s good for man, diverting him from God’s saving Plan.
An empty cause of no eternal worth, deceiving men around the earth,
Perpetuating Satan’s Eternal Lie, that many won’t believe till they die.

Man’s half is woman

I am a man in whom woman is a part;
Some of the vices that men indulge in
Are woman’s part; be it lying, it’s hers,
Deceiving, hers, fanciful desires, hers
And pride in all its variety is hers.
Inconsistency is inherent in her.
She switches from one vice, a little stale,
To another one, still more fresh in line.
This is the theory men advocate
To justify their actions against women.
