There is a diabolical trio existing in the natural man, implacable, inextinguishable, co-operative and consentaneous, pride, envy, and hate; pride that makes us fancy we deserve all the goods that others possess; envy that some should be admired while we are overlooked; and hate, because all that is bestowed on others, diminishes the sum we think due to ourselves.

The corrupting view.

I spoke ill of her
As she was in others’ company.
I spoke nil of her
When she came to my friend’s company.
I spoke well of her
As I won her in my company.
Now I speak only of her
For now she is no more with others.

Jealousy to envy, envy to pride,
and pride to tranquility –
metamorphosis of feelings.

M.S. - a tribute to.

You were born; one such as was not
born before;
One such perhaps as will never be born
after.

You had got a voice; one such as was
not there before;
Nor would be such a mellifluous as
yours in future.

You had, as it was, the tone of
Nightingale crooning up;
You had, as it was, the flame of fame
burning up.

Without pride you walked, as it were
walking with pride;
Without envy you moved, as it were
moving with envy
.
You had been like a swan ambling
Towards the bank;
You died; ‘I am too old to attend’.
Your sibling has said.
Are there any instinctual affection,
Any emotional satisfaction,
Or any soul gratification for one
To die cut off from blood relations?

I Envy Nothing But One

I don’t envy the angels with wings who can fly
I’ve been soaring in the beautiful sky of your love
I don’t envy the beauty of the rainbow
You’ve made me the most beautiful woman in your love

I don’t envy the freedom of the dolphins swimming in the ocean
I’ve been swimming in the ocean of your loving eyes
I don’t envy Shakespeare for his love poems
I’ve become the greatest poet since I met you

I don’t envy Romeo’s faith to Juliet
You’ve never turned your heart from me, not even once
I don’t envy the softness of the dew the morning has
You’ve been kissing me gently with your tender lips

I don’t envy Monalisa’s wonderful smile Leonardo has
I’ve got one of mine on your face
I don’t envy the sweet sound a harp has
I’ve got a sweeter one when you whisper in my ears

I envy nothing but one
The way you love and make me feel this way

Envy

Constant competition and criticism between friends
We'll bite and fight with our might untill we win in the end
I've got one up on you, you've got one up on me
Overlooking each other's worthy qualities
I'm sorry it's got a hold of me
And I pray I can shake free
It'll damage my pride, It'll hurt me
So tangled up in envy
I lash out at you, you strike back at a chance
Low blows, anything goes at each other's expense
Choosing up teams, we're picking up sides
We try to nudge, and we won't budge an inch for our pride
Conceit, false prestige
Same old story, hunt for glory
Will I ever see humility?
And will it ever manifest in me?/
And when the damage is done, no one won
And that's our idea of fun
...enough

3 B.06 Achievement Of Peace

Peace - the desire of every society,
Got not through war intermittingly,
Nor fear or weakness overwhelmingly,
But by pure will of peace of humanity.

Peace not an absence of war be,
It a virtue, a state of mind but be,
A disposition for benevolence truly,
Lying in confidence and justice only.

Peace ever always beautiful does be,
Not for oil, gold or interest of society,
Peace without moral purpose brief be,
If lacking human interest unattained be.

A war can not be won by any society,
But peace can be got by humanity,
Its success not by shunning conflict be,
But by removing causes of poverty.

By removing intolerance and oppression,
Ignorance, injustice and discrimination,
Envy, anger, pride, avarice and ambition,
With understanding and proper education.

One’s drive

I should marry such a woman
As others would envy me my wife.
I should attain such a position
As others would envy me my place.
I should construct such a building
As others would envy me my house.
In absence of others, I have no drive.
Envy, not love, influences one’s drive.

The Seven Sins again

>
> Do we as a people really know or care
> Concerning the seven sins?
>
> Those sins are apart of our every day life.
> Those sins are apart of our strife.
> I've heard the first was vanity or pride
>
> Now that is an hell of a ride...
> Be it physical or spiritual, how would
> One keep his/her feet on the ground?
>
> Sanity what a big role...
> Does God have pride? Then I am lost.
> What mean the word boss?
>
> Those seven sins has really cost,
> Things to be...
> Unfree and that will include me.

Was it pride that set Eve free
And made Adam give up his freedom of will?
Still...
I must appeal...
I am not ill...
But the seven is a thrill...for real,

What envy you? and who...why?
And do you cry?
The have and the have nots...
Gluttony would that be?

Are all seven just pure envy?
Lust not and bust...
Lust not and rust...

The wrath of lust not is have not,
Either way you go...
Whatever door...rich or poor,

Kindness and anger in the long run meet,
Good or bad we sit and eat.
Sometimes eating out of greed...
God speed...

Is lust greed or pride?
Or just sloth...denied?
A natural, physical and spiritual guide.

'Man she looks good'
Gluttony in the hood.

'He is so fine'...or just signs of the time,
Lust is not mine.

Lust is Satan

Lust leads to greed;
Greed leads to pride;
Pride brings envy;
Envy brings jealousy;
Jealousy breeds hatred.
Hatred breeds chaos.
Lust is the root.
Chaos is the blossom.
No God can stop it.

Envy And Avarice

Envy and Avarice, one summer day,
Sauntering abroad
In quest of the abode
Of some poor wretch or fool who lived that way--
You--or myself, perhaps--I cannot say--
Along the road, scarce heeding where it tended,
Their way in sullen, sulky silence wended;

For, though twin sisters, these two charming creatures,
Rivals in hideousness of form and features,
Wasted no love between them as they went.
Pale Avarice,
With gloating eyes,
And back and shoulders almost double bent,
Was hugging close that fatal box
For which she's ever on the watch
Some glance to catch
Suspiciously directed to its locks;
And Envy, too, no doubt with silent winking
At her green, greedy orbs, no single minute
Withdrawn from it, was hard a-thinking
Of all the shining dollars in it.

The only words that Avarice could utter,
Her constant doom, in a low, frightened mutter,
'There's not enough, enough, yet in my store!'
While Envy, as she scanned the glittering sight,
Groaned as she gnashed her yellow teeth with spite,
'She's more than me, more, still forever more!'

Thus, each in her own fashion, as they wandered,
Upon the coffer's precious contents pondered,
When suddenly, to their surprise,
The God Desire stood before their eyes.
Desire, that courteous deity who grants
All wishes, prayers, and wants;
Said he to the two sisters: 'Beauteous ladies,
As I'm a gentleman, my task and trade is
To be the slave of your behest--
Choose therefore at your own sweet will and pleasure,
Honors or treasure!
Or in one word, whatever you'd like best.
But, let us understand each other--she
Who speaks the first, her prayer shall certainly
Receive--the other, the same boon _redoubled!_'

Imagine how our amiable pair,
At this proposal, all so frank and fair,
Were mutually troubled!
Misers and enviers, of our human race,
Say, what would you have done in such a case?
Each of the sisters murmured, sad and low
'What boots it, oh, Desire, to me to have
Crowns, treasures, all the goods that heart can crave,
Or power divine bestow,
Since still another must have always more?'

So each, lest she should speak before
The other, hesitating slow and long
Till the god lost all patience, held her tongue.
He was enraged, in such a way,
To be kept waiting there all day,
With two such beauties in the public road;
Scarce able to be civil even,
He wished them both--well, not in heaven.

Envy at last the silence broke,
And smiling, with malignant sneer,
Upon her sister dear,
Who stood in expectation by,
Ever implacable and cruel, spoke
'I would be blinded of _one_ eye!'

Little Susan

Air -- "The Pride of Caldair"

Once there was a little girl
And her friends loved her dear --
Her parents loved their little one,
She did their hearts cheer.
They loved their little darling,
As with them she did roam,
They called her little Susan,
The pride of their home.

Blue eyes had little Susan,
And light flaxen hair,
And she was a pleasant child to see,
So beautiful and fair.
With her parents she will never more
On earth with them roam --
They loved their little Susan,
The pride of their home.

Her parents had more children,
There were nine of them all --
There are eight of them living,
For God but one called.
The flower of their family
God called to his home,
It was their little Susan,
The pride of their home.

Her friends will not forget her,
Though she died years ago --
It was John H. Moore's daughter,
Her age was four years old.
She is waiting in heaven,
Waiting for her friends to come
And be with their little Susan,
The pride of their home.

Heart On The Wing

My heart is on the wing tonight
Slowly fading away
I hear my brothers scream down there
But no longer I can stay
Ain't anybody there to pray
For a spirit on it's way
Does anybody care who pays
For the blossoms that we break?
A burning heart is on the wing tonight
It's drifting home and may forgive our pride
The right is on your side you say
While you crush what we have found
You say you turned your pride away
While you burn a sacred ground
You're standing on a hill to preach
A love you'd never share
But you don't know a thing, for life
Only one may take away
A burning heart is on the wing tonight
It's drifting home and may forgive our pride
(Home...
a burning heart drifting home...
forgive our pride...)
No matter what you say
No right is on your side
I hope some day you'll break
The blossom of your pride
