God's Kingdom

PART 1
[INSPIRED BY LEO TOLSTOY]

More than a hundred years gone
since a thought by this great man
to put an end to man's kingdom
to be a part of god's kingdom

A kingdom which need not bind
bind itself to a boundary
a kingdom which need not safeguard
guarding men need not war over a boundary

a nation without a boundary
a nation which would'nt war for a boundary
would'nt be a man's kingdom
yes...truely a god's kingdom

how do you curb atrocities without a war
India did it fifty years back without a war
Mahatma's ahimsa was an offshoot of Tolstoy's passive resistance
Tolstoy was Gandhi's inspiration

the Magic Forest. (Part Two, Stu's tale)

Said Stu the Gnu 'I am talking to you',
'I want you to listen to me',
'I'm certain you do' said the Blue Kangaroo,
'But I'm terribly late for my tea',
'Forget about tea and just listen to me''
'I've got something important to say',
'Tolstoy the Tiger has loaned me a book',
'About lands that exist far away'.
'I am happy for you' said the Blue Kangaroo,
'That Tiger's a wonderful soul',
'But can it not wait, till I've emptied my plate? ',
'It's got King Prawns and Chinese Spring Roll'.
'Oh well, if you must, ' said Stu the Gnu,
'But I think I've come up with a plan',
'So, finish your tea, then come over to me',
'And I'll tell you as much as I can'.
So Stu went off home and pored over the tome,
Which was all bound in purple and red,
It showed pictures of horses with black and white stripes,
These were Zebras, so Tolstoy had said.

Stu had lived in the forest, with all of his friends,
Ever since he was naught but a calf.
They had played silly games, calling each other names,
Telling jokes that made everyone laugh.
But sometimes, at night, when the Sun had gone down,
Stu would lie on his bed, and he'd muse;
That it might be the case, in a faraway place,
There were thousands of other Gnus.

So he went to see Tolstoy, whose knowledge was vast,
In every conceivable way,
He didn't pretend, he just told his good friend,
Of the thoughts he was having today.
'Now I may have a book, '
'Come on in and we'll look, '
'And I'll brew up some tea, if I may, '
'I'm grateful to you, ' returned Stu the Gnu,
'But I don't want to be in the way, '
'You could never be that, if you move my Top-Hat, '
'You can sit on that chair by the fire.'
'Then I'll hunt down that book, '
'And we'll both take a look, '
'Then decide if it's what you require.'

Tolstoy brewed tea, then said, 'Let me see, '
'It might just be under the bed, '
'If it's not, then I'm sure, it'll be by the door, '
'With the others that I have just read.'
Tolstoy rummaged around, and he very soon found,
A large book bound in purple and red,
He then opened it up, as he sipped from his cup,
'This is it, I am certain, ' he said.
'Yes, this is the book, come on over and look, '
'It may answer some questions for you, '
'There are pictures of Monkeys, and Zebras and Snakes, '
'And I'm sure that these here are Gnu.'
'Yes, thank you, ' said Stu, 'they are surely Gnu, '
'May I borrow this book for a while? '
'Yes, of course, friend, you may' Stu had heard Tolstoy say,
As he passed it across with a smile.
In the time that it took, Stu to study the book,
He had slowly developed a plan,
He knew of a Stoat who would rent him a boat,
That was how the adventure began.

Ring Them Bells

Ring them bells yea heathen from the city that dreams
Ring them bells from the sanctuaries cross the valleys and streams
For they're deep and they're wide
And the world's on it's side
And time is running backwards and so is the bride
Ring them bells
Ring them bells
Ring them bells
Ring them bells!

Ring them bells Saint Peter where the four winds blow
Ring them bells with an iron hand so the people will know
That the rush hour is now on the wheel and the plow and the sun is going down upon the sacred cow
Ring them bells
Ring them bells
Ring them bells
Ring them bells

Ring them bells Saint Martha for the poor man's son
Ring them bells so the world will know that God is one
For the shepherd is asleep where the willows weep
And the mountains are filled with little lost sheep
Ring them bells for the blind and the deaf
Ring them bells for all of us who are left
Ring them bells for the chosen few who would judge the many when the game is through
Ring them bells for the time that flies

Rosary

Ring a Ring no Rosary
Standing in a row
Waiting for the hand to fall
God's children take a bow.

Ring a Ring no rosary
Shadow at the door
Sweat around his puffed up neck
Pain upon the floor.

Ring a Ring no Rosary
A whispered word to God
Judies, where's your mercy
From the stripping and the rod.

Ring a Ring no Rosary
Wipe away the tear.
Stained and dirty fingers
Garbing at my years.

Ring a Ring no Rosary
Now the pain is done
Christ upon his alter
Disciples in my Tomb.

London Bells

Two sticks and an apple,
Ring the bells at Whitechapel.

Old Father Bald Pate,
Ring the bells Aldgate.

Maids in white aprons,
Ring the bells at St. Catherine`s.

Oranges and Lemons,
Ring the bells at St. Clement`s.

When will you pay me?
Ring the bells at the Old Bailey.

When I am rich,
Ring the bells at Fleetditch.

When will that be?
Ring the bells of Stepney.

When I am old,
Ring the great bell at Paul`s.

Love Plus One

I, I went off to the right
Without saying goodbye, goodbye
Where does it go from here?
Is it down to the lake I fear?
Ay ah ah ah ah ah
Ay ah ah ah ah ah
Then I call
Ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring)
La la love plus one
Ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring)
When I call love
Give love some soul
If I may be quite so bold
Where does it go from here?
Is it down to the lake I fear?
Ay ah ah ah ah ah
Ay ah ah ah ah ah
Then I call
Ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring)
La la love plus one
Ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring) ring (ring)
When I call love
Love plus one

Alfred Lord Tennyson

Ring Out , Wild Bells

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light;
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Ring out the grief that saps the mind,
For those that here we see no more,
Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.

Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife;
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweeter manners, purer laws.

Ring out the want, the care the sin,
The faithless coldness of the times;
Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes,
But ring the fuller minstrel in.

Ring out false pride in place and blood,
The civic slander and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.

Ring out old shapes of foul disease,
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.

Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.

Ring Ring

I was sitting by the phone
I was waiting all alone
Baby by myself I sit and wait and wonder about you
Its a dark and dreary night
Seems like nothings going right
Wont you tell me honey how can I go on here without you?
Yes Im down and feeling blue
And I dont know what to do, oh-oh
Ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
Ring, ring, the happiest sound of them all
Ring, ring, I stare at the phone on the wall
And I sit all alone impatiently
Wont you please understand the need in me
So, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
So, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
You were here and now youre gone
Hey did I do something wrong?
I just cant believe that I could be so badly mistaken
Was it me or was it you?
Tell me, are we really through?
Wont you hear me cry and you will know that my heart is breaking
Please forgive and then forget
Or maybe darling better yet, oh-oh
Ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
Ring, ring, the happiest sound of them all
Ring, ring, I stare at the phone on the wall
And I sit all alone impatiently
Wont you please understand the need in me
So, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
So, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
Oh-oh, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
So, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?

Ring Out, Solstice Bells

Now is the solstice of the year,
Winter is the glad song that you hear.
Seven maids move in seven time.
Have the lads up ready in a line.
Ring out these bells.
Ring out, ring solstice bells.
Ring solstice bells.
Join together beneath the mistletoe.
By the holy oak whereon it grows.
Seven druids dance in seven time.
Sing the song the bells call, loudly chiming.
Ring out these bells.
Ring out, ring solstice bells.
Ring solstice bells.
Praise be to the distant sister sun,
Joyful as the silver planets run.
Seven maids move in seven time.
Sing the song the bells call, loudly chiming.
Ring out those bells.
Ring out, ring solstice bells.
Ring solstice bells.
Ring on, ring out.
Ring on, ring out.

Ring the Bell, Watchman!

High is the belfry the old sexton stands,
Grasping the rope with his thin bony hands;
Fix'd is his gaze, as by some magic spell,
Till he hears the distant murmmer,
Ring, ring the bell.

"Ring the bell, watchman! ring! ring! ring!
Yes, yes! the good news is now on the wing;
Yes, yes! they come, and with tidings to tell --
Glorious and blessed tidings --
Ring, ring the bell!"

Baring his long silver locks to the breeze,
First for a moment he drops on his knees;
Then with a rigor that few could excel,
Answers the welcome bidding,
Ring, ring the bell.

Hear! from the hilltop, the first signal gun
Thunders the word that some great deed is done;
Hear! thru' the valley the long echoes swell,
Ever and anon repeating,
Ring, ring the bell.

Bonfires are blazing and rockets ascend --
No meager triumphs such tokens portend;
Shout, shout! my brothers, for "all, all is well!"
'Tis the universal chorus,
Ring, ring the bell.

The Doorbell

I'm thinkin' about my doorbell
When ya gonna ring it, when ya gonna ring it
Yeah, I'm thinkin' about my doorbell
When ya gonna ring it, when ya gonna ring it
Yeah, I'm thinkin' about my doorbell
When ya gonna ring it, when ya gonna ring it
yeah, I been thinkin' about my doorbell
Oh, well
Well with me and chipin' me and kisses?
Not the man in my life I know
And I been going to mystery misses
I respect the art of the show
Take back whan you said little girl
And while you're at it take yourself back too
Woman whatcha gonna do now, whatcha gonna do about it
I'm thinkin' about my doorbell
When ya gonna ring it, when ya gonna ring it
Yeah, I'm thinkin' about my doorbell
When ya gonna ring it, when ya gonna ring it oh
I'm thinkin' about my doorbell
When ya gonna ring it, when ya gonna ring it
Yeah, I been thinkin' about my doorbell
Oh, yeah
You don't seem to come around
Point your finger and make a sound
You don't seem to come around
Not since I said you knocked it down?
Oh, well
Make a sound and I'll make you feel right
Right at home, yeah
Yeah, right at home, yeah
Nobody got ......?
But how come it's so easy to you
You know it's like me at times I can be careless
But your words seem so obtuse
But then again I know you feel guilty
And you tell me you want me again
But I don't need any of your pity
I got plenty of my own friends
They're all above me
And I've been thinkin' about my doorbell
When they gonna ring it, when they gonna ring it
Yeah, I've been thinkin' about the doorbell
When they gonna ring it, when they gonna ring it oh
I've been thinkin' about the doorbell
When they gonna ring it, when they gonna ring it
Yeah, I been thinkin' about the doorbell
