The Weigh In

It was Friday evening
the time for being weighed
before bath in the nursing home
and Anne was standing

behind you in the queue of kids
leaning on her crutch
the stump of her leg
just visible beneath

her short red skirt
and she whispered to you
how much do you weigh Skinny Kid?
I don't know

you replied
maybe 84lbs
she snorted 84lbs?
my pussy weighs more than that

she whispered
her warm breath
on your ear
the kids in front of you

moved up and Monica
the girl with burn scars
climbed off
the weighing scales

what do you weigh Scarface?
Anne called out
don't be cruel Anne
the nurse near the scales said

oops sorry nurse
it just slipped out
Anne said
(so the bishop said

to the actress
Anne whispered
in your ear)
after a few more kids

got on and off
the scales after
being weighed
it was your turn

and you climbed on the scales
and the red line
showed 77lbs
and the nurse said

what it showed
and you got off
and Anne crutched herself
onto the scales

and you stood
and watched
as the red line showed 112lbs
now that

said Anne looking at you
is real poundage
and as she got off the scales
she ushered you outside

into the passageway
and said
here feel my thigh
go on

have a feel
and she grabbed
your hand
and made you

touch her thigh
it was smooth
and warm
you're such a thin bastard

Skinny Kid
you need to fatten yourself up
she released your hand
and you followed her

along to the lounge
where others waited
for bath time
she nibbled

your earlobe affectionately
and crutched herself
over to the armchair
in the corner

and pinched Monica
on her way
giving out
a snort of laughter

as Monica uttered
loud moans
and you sensed
the dampness

on your earlobe
like a loving memento
which you hoped
would last

but knew
it would
like passing time
soon go.

The thirst of gods for you

now i have seen your world
tumble
it is reversed now, the roof has
become the floor
and you suffer and here i am
comforting you
that somehow you are a strong woman
who can endure all these
you can build a new house again
sooner
you can put the windows in the number
that you want it
some doors of privacy
a garden of red roses
a trail of green grass and you can put more
stars than what you
had before
i am silent somehow about what you did
when you were one of those
heavenly bodied
before everything fell off
the sky where you lived once was
filled with the arrogance of your
meteors
the greed of your spaces
the deceit of your looks and
the inhumanity of your acts
have polluted
what once were clear rivers
where all used to drink
for life

so many died because of your
hatred
so many were maimed because of
your indifference
and now
the gods must have rewarded you
with what is due you
and you now complain about
an indescribable pain
this suffering that seems so
endless

you are weighed by the Furies now
and you have weighed
less than expected

i only have pity for you
but to bring you to my world
i must not perhaps tell you
but i must admit
i can't.

because you now deserve
to suffer
for another hundred years
the gods
are thirsty...

Types of injuries

Injuries from the sports sooth.
Injuries from the assaults loom.
Your sufferings are inconsistent
With the effects but the causes.

The rights of all are equal: justice, poised and balanced in eternal calm, will shake from the golden scales in which are weighed the acts of men, the very dust of prejudice and caste: No race, no color, no previous condition, can change the rights of men.

To Love Without Measure

when i say i love you
there is no meter to it
no scales
from one to ten
no scores till the hundred
there is no depth
nothing about height
there is nothing to measure
nothing to price

for love is as light as air
and fills every empty space
for love cannot be weighed
and beyond what is heavy
or burdensome
its depth is beyond comprehension
its value is priceless
its measure
immeasurable.

Of Greed And Corruption

Of greed and corruption we are all too aware
It's happening in your suburb and the big World out there
Many in high places into corporate crime
And more honorable than them in jail serving time
On the scales of justice one must cast a doubt
Big time corporate crims seldom ever caught out
Money speaks every language some are known to say
In the twenty first century it does seem that way
Of greed and corruption the whispers abound
Amongst influential people criminals to be found
To buy their way out of trouble they seldom do fail
The power of their money can keep them from jail
And of greed and corruption we hear every day
Whoever did tell us that crime does not pay?

Like Jayalailtha

You aren’t weighed against your success;
You are weighed against your failures.
How you face, how you deal with crises
And how you muster energy-
Physical and mental,
To turn the impossible possible,
As Jay, the royal, demonstrated

I Suffer The Night

I suffer the night
When it's time to face my sadness
And all I can do is cry

I suffer the night
When I struggle to find rest
Knowing in the morning I must rise

I suffer the night
When alone in the darkness
I wonder why I am alive

I suffer the night
When I succumb to blackness
And finally stop asking why

I suffer the night
As it battles my mind
And my spirit slowly dying

I suffer the night
As I reach for the light
And pray that my death be kind

Stealing Babies (feat. Elvin Jones)

I'm teething on the answers you're saving
How are you going to make me sleep again?
Well I'm dreaming while you're stealing babies
When you gonna make me understand?
Why?
How should I say "I'm so sorry!"
How should I pray, to know that we're alive
Eve stands alone
By the knock on the Door
By the thin in her bones
She's courageous and loving
Exhausted and cold
She's not ready to go
But the ghost on the phone
Helps her safely into her dream
You're leaving pieces of family
How you gonna help them understand
Well I'm screaming
While you're stealing babies
Why you wanna knock us down again?
Why?
How should I say "I'm so sorry!"
How should we pray, to make us feel alive?
Eve stands alone
By the knock
On the door
By the thin in her bones
She's courageous and loving
Exhausted and cold
She's not ready to go
So the ghost on the phone
Helps her safely into her dream
It must be our egos
It must be my lack
Of faith that it might not come back
It must be our egos
It must be my lack
Of faith that it might not come back
I've been weighed down again
I'm weighed down again
I've been weighed down again
I'm weighed down...
Weighed down...
Weighed down...
Weighed down...
Down...
Down...
Down

And So I Write This Poem...

because i cannot tell you
exactly the facts,
all the details that may
hurt you
and me at the end
of this
pathway where pebbles
have sharp edges
and mud is sticky and
foul
rotten leaves abound
and worms
are busy eating what
leaf is left,

because i do not want
to hurt you
neither does i want to
suffer
with self-inflicted
injuries

and so i am back
with these lines there is
no way that
you can sense that
there is something blunt
in the vowels
something unspeakable
in my consonants,
as expected,
life in dots and dashes
some blanks
too.....

Good Friday

A recipe for thought:

Take a pair of scales
as large as the boundless human mind,
and into one scale
pour all the goodness in the world that you can see
carefully
and into the other,
all the evil in the world that you can see;
into the first scale now add
all the joy that you have known
(the joy of others you can never measure)
and into the other, all the misery,
(the misery of others you can never measure) :
into the first, add all the laughter you can remember,
and into the second, all the tears;

and now, from the cupboards of your heart,
add what you will
to either scale:
the hopes and fears
of all the years.

now give one day each year
to the watching of these scales
and see if slowly, gently, as we watch
with all our love
the scales
move
