The problem with the person who thinks he's a long-term investor and impervious to short-term gyrations is that the emotion of fear and pain will eventually make him sell badly.

Marathon Man
(eric carmen)
Twenty years with my brain in a book
Tryin to find out who I am
Endless nights and olympian dreams
Of a race I never ran
Someones callin my name
Its the crowd in the stands
Dont know how I became
What I suddenly am
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Ive been searchin so long
But the answer is finally at hand
Im a marathon man
Wind is gone and my heads in a haze
But I must keep up the pace
Got to think about strategy here
If I hope to win the race
Someones callin my name
Its the crowd in the stands
Concentrate on the pain
Put my soul in command
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Ive been searchin so long
But the answer is finally at hand
Im a marathon man
Wasting my youth
Chasing dreams, testing truth
Taking turns being deceived
And deceivin
Bound with a rope
Made of heroes and hope
Till I found nothin left
To believe in
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Marathon man, keep a-runnin
Ive been searchin so long
But the answer is finally at hand
Im a marathon man

One Day
I've often used
As well as heard
Others speak of
The term, one day
Well, the term of
One day manesfested
Into sheer reality the
Other day
All that I long and awaited
For had surely come
My way
So as of today, I have
A greater confidence
Regarding the future
As well as the plans,
Also the things that I say

Villanelle of Change
Since Persia fell at Marathon,
The yellow years have gathered fast:
Long centuries have come and gone.
And yet (they say) the place will don
A phantom fury of the past,
Since Persia fell at Marathon;
And as of old, when Helicon
Trembled and swayed with rapture vast
(Long centuries have come and gone),
This ancient plain, when night comes on,
Shakes to a ghostly battle-blast,
Since Persia fell at Marathon.
But into soundless Acheron
The glory of Greek shame was cast:
Long centuries have come and gone,
The suns of Hellas have all shone,
The first has fallen to the last: --
Since Persia fell at Marathon,
Long centuries have come and gone.

The Game of Baseball
It begins, of course, in the Spring.
The evenings grow lighter
The air sweeter
and all the world is filled
With sweet optimism.
It continues through
the long hot summer
Humid evenings
and long hot afternoons.
It is a marathon
not a sprint.
Only one team each year
wins its last game
It leaves us in the Fall
as Winter’s first foul
Imprecations
chill us to the marrow.
Days darken
and the sun seems absent.
It is both a faith and
a fixation.
Even in winter’s depths
It speaks to us of spring
and the hope
of redemption.

The Olympics and Life
The Olympics is a reflection of life
as it has it's winners and losers
one minute your on a high
the next you can get knocked down.
If you want to achieve your dream
it will come through hard work
as the more you put in to it
the greater the rewards will be.
Sometimes you get just one chance
a Golden opportunity to succeed
but if your not ready it can slip away
someone else can take it from your grasp.
In Sport nothing is handed on a plate
lots of blood, sweat, and tears, along the way,
and in life it can be just the same
but you just have to keep on going.
But some people get tired and give up
when victory can be just around the corner
it don't matter how many times you fall down
just as long as you always get back up.
So life is a Marathon and not a sprint
with many hurdles and obstacles to get over
but if you keep going at a steady pace
you'll get to the finishing line in the end!

A Long Term Memory I Have
A Long Term memory I have
Holding tons of shocking stories
Inside my heart
A long term memory I have
The memories of poison and blood I have
Running inside me
A long term memory I have
The memories that holds
Some faces of blood eating
Monsters that lives near my heart
A long term memories
Of hate and hating
Myself
A black heart I have
Pumping poison into my body
Restlessly every time
All the happiness is sucked by
A blackhole of bad memories
All the love is vanished by
A tornado of hate and loneliness
All I have now is
Memories of
