That's the trouble with being me. At this point, nobody gives a damn what my problem is. I could literally have a tumor on the side of my head and they'd be like, 'Yeah, big deal. I'd eat a tumor every morning for the kinda money you're pulling down.'

The Valley Every Man Wants
Trumpets blow so hard
They shatter the drums
In my head. God
Damn those bloody
Sounds that scream
And moan like secrets
Worth not repeating.
And the horses run
Down that worn out path,
But still they can’t find any
Water. It’s all dried
Up in the valley of
Roses and thorns, thanks
To this golf ball tumor.

Thats The Kinda Love I Got For You
(d. fletcher / d. parks)
From a mountain high to a valley low
Stronger than the strongest and even more
Running deep, as deep can go
And can even turn your darkest clouds to falling snow
Thats the kinda love I got for you, yeah
Thats the kinda love I got for you-hoo-oo
I cant help myself
I cant help myself
Oh, I love ya
Well, I just cant help myself
Like falling water on desert sand
Making flowers grow on barren land, yeah
Ever growin, growin long
Heaven only knows just how much it grows, ah
Thats the kinda love I got for you-oo
Thats the kinda love I got for you-hoo-oo
I cant help myself

Baby, I just cant help myself, no
Im playing with fire
Ive lost control, yeah
Oh this lovely feeling
Burns to my very soul
Burning hot, as hot as I can go
Cant seem to help myself
Just got to let you know
Thats the kinda love I got for you

Thats the kinda love I got for you, baby

The Rock of Cashel
My mother told me on the bus-
about the tumor in her breast.
She told me in that public place
I was stunned; She, self possessed
she was so calm- no hint of fear.
I was floored by what she said
I was very young back then
with limited knowledge of the dead.
Post surgery she did just fine.
It turned out the tumor was benign.
My mom would say “It’s not my time”.-
That was her way. She spoke that line.
She did possess that quiet strength
Bequeathed her from High Kings of old
She was a rock of Christian faith
From which derived her peace of soul.
She had that quiet confidence
Death itself held her in awe
Faith banished any fear of Death
who feared to linger at HER door.

Trouble
Trouble came around here
Here in the south we fix something to eat
Steam risin up off the greenery
And we welcome the strangers we meet
Alien sick growing in these walls
Like moss in a crack that time made
I brush a guy in the airport
Whistling its a small world after all
And the prices are higher
But the kids still selling lemonade
Get to the point of it
(get to the point of it)
Get to the sense of it
(get to the sense of it)
Im in a hurry
To get through it
I am in trouble
(I am in trouble)
I am in trouble
(I am in trouble)
A hurricane flag flappin in a bad storm
Same color of the spider underneath my nail that bit me in my dream
And who would take out the dominican republic
And send gods sweet children floating down a poison stream
A secret society of conference rooms
I pledge my allegiance to the dollar
And when the clergy take a vote oh the gays will pay again
Yeah cause theres more than one kind of criminal white collar
So get to the point of it
(get to the point of it)
Get to the sense of it
(get to the sense of it)
Im in a hurry to get through it
One day the war will stop
And well grow a peaceful crop
And a girl can get a wife
And we can bring you back to life
Sacks of flour and rice or poker chips
Greasy palms or systems underhanding
(...shelter...)
And maybe well take a walk on pluto
Yeah but be no closer to the understanding
(...what I wish...)
Get to the point of it
(get to the point of it)
Get to the sense of it
(get to the sense of it)
Im in a hurry to get through it
Yeah
I am in trouble
(I am in trouble)
I am in trouble
(I am in trouble)
I am in trouble
(I am in trouble)
I am in trouble
(I am in trouble)
Trouble
(trouble)
Trouble
(trouble)
Trouble
(trouble)
Trouble
(trouble)

My Kinda Life
Right from early days from the moment I was born
I would take my guitar in the early early mornin
And go down to the fields and play-ay-ay
Sittin down there in the long grass strummin
I could see the people from miles around comin
To hear me sing my music and play-ay-ay
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life yeah and I wouldnt spend it anywhere
Other than sittin down somewhere playin away my days
Well we made it to the city just me and my guitar
That was where I found a freaky little bar
I sat there on the stage and play-ay-ayed
Well up came a guy who said it wasnt plastic
He wanted me to sing away my life or something drastic
But all I wanna do is play-ay-ay
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life yeah and I wouldnt spend it anywhere
Other than sittin down somewhere playin away my days
Well fame and fortune Ive let them pass me by
No one in the country could say I didnt try
To turn the people and to play-ay-ay
You can keep all the money and the places that go with it
Cos all I want is freedom and no cash could ever get it
All I wanna do is play-ay-ay
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life my kinda life (yes and I like it)
Well thats been my kinda life yeah and I wouldnt spend it anywhere
Other than sittin down somewhere playin away my days

Changing The Angle Of The Sight Of My Eyes
the fatty side of the eye
bugs shall be removed
and the tiny tumors just
below my eyelids shall
be extricated
it is another day for a
clearer vision of the
world
another kind of view for
my life
embracing something
bright and beautiful
less the haze
less the pessimism of
the tumor
less the obstruction of
the fat
set the angle towards
beauty and goodness
and truth
now it is moving towards
the goal of
perfection

I Believe
Yeah
Uh, uh
Uh
Yeah
Yeah
There could be dark clouds up over me, yeah
Still I know I can stand tall, yeah
And I can be the only man in the middle of the sea
And still somehow I wouldn't feel small, no, no
Ever since I found you, baby, it's been my attitude,
yes, it has
I wouldn't trade you for the world, uh-uh
If I bet my money on you, baby, I would never lose, no
'Cause you're my inspiration, girl
With you by my side, I believe
(Oh, I believe) I believe
(Oh, I believe) Yes, I
(I believe) I believe
(Oh, I believe) Oh, I believe
(Oh, I believe) I believe
(I believe) Yes, I
Now there could be a roadblock right in front of me,
mmm
And it wouldn't be in my way, no
Even if they locked me up and threw away the key, yeah
Somehow I know it would be okay, yeah
'Cause ever since I met you, girl, I've been positive,
oh, yes
You gave me a reason why, yes, you did
I kinda gave up on life, but now I wanna live, yeah
'Cause in the tunnel you were my light
And with you by my side, I believe
(Oh, I believe) Oh, I believe
(Oh, I believe) Oh, I believe, yeah
(I believe) I believe
(Oh, I believe) Woo...I
(Oh, I believe) I believe
(I believe) Oh, ho, I believe
And I remember when I wrote this song
It was at a time when I, I couldn't go wrong
But since I met you
(Oh, I believe) I believe
(Oh, I believe) Said I
(I believe) I believe
(Oh, I believe) Oh, I believe
(Oh, I believe) Yeah
(I believe) Yes, I, when the clouds are hanging over
us, woo
(Oh, I believe) And the going's tough
(Oh, I believe) I
(I believe) I believe
(Oh, I believe) If we stand tall, yeah
(Oh, I believe) I believe, yeah
(I believe) I believe
(Oh, I believe) I believe, yeah
(Oh, I believe) I believe
(I believe) Oh, I believe
(Oh, I believe) Oh, I believe
(Oh, I believe) Whoa, oh, I believe
(I believe) I believe, Yes, I do
(Oh, I believe) If the mountain's too high and the
valley's too low
(Oh, I believe) We can do all things
(I believe) If we believe
(Oh, I believe) Ho...whoa...I believe
(Oh, I believe) Hey...yea...ey...yea...
(I believe) Hey, I believe
(Oh, I believe) Said America
(Oh, I believe) America
(I believe) Ooh
(Oh, I believe)
(Oh, I believe)

Deal With The Preacher
I need love, the kind I've
never known before.
You need it, too, the kind that makes you feel so good, baby.
I want to give, give you all the love you need.
Well, I'm a loner, and that's the way I want to be, Yeah.
Let me say. As the sun climbs across the sky above,
So your smile filled me with a stronger love.
Just as you and I, watchin' the morning sky, oh, yeah.
Somehow I know it's time for me to say goodbye, Yeah, yeah.
Here's why: can't make a deal with the preacher, oh, yeah, yeah.
And I can't make a bargain in heaven, now.
Angel, you came to my window, Angel, you came to my door.
I was a fool and I let you in; I sure ain't no fool anymore!
Yeah, yeah, you better believe me right now baby.
Oh, yeah.
As the sun climbs across the sky above,
So your smile, filled me with a stronger love, mm.
Just as you and I, we're watchin' the morning sky,
And somehow I know, it's time for me to say goodbye.
I can't make a deal with the preacher, you know yeah.
And I can't make a bargain in heaven, yeah, yeah.
Heaven knows me by now.
I can't make a deal, oh no, no, no,
no.
I love you baby, I love you baby.
I can't make a deal, make a deal, make a deal,
Make a deal, make a deal. Yeah, yeah.
You know and I can't make no bargain in heaven,
Listen, I can't make a deal, make a deal, make a deal,
Make a deal, make a deal, oh, oh.
And I can't make no bargain in heaven, oh yeah.
Make a deal...

Ending In Tragedy
I tried to save us
But little did I know
Your a speeding train off track
With little time to go
I tired everything
Tried so hard to let you know
But know Im on my last thread
Pulling away to no avail
Yeah
Now its our time
Yeah
Now its our time
And I'll see you on the other side
Beneath all your skin
Theres another side to you
You built up city walls so I
Can never get through
You built up city walls so I
Can never get through
Yeah
Now its our time
Yeah
Now its our time
And I'll see you on the other side
Why would I take it too far
With not thinking
About the end at all
If a fortune could say
What the furture will bring
Then im not conviced
Its ending in tragedy
And most of all
Its in my control
To end it all
Now its our time
Yeah
Now its our time
And I'll see you on the other side
Now its our time
yeah
Now its our time
And I'll see you on the other side
