I love fantasy. I love horror. I love musicals. Whatever doesn't really happen in life is what I'm interested in. As a way of commenting on everything that does happen in life, because ultimately the only thing I'm really interested in is people.

The Ultimate Example

Those who have never told the truth about anything,
Are always heard commenting on someone else,
Not being who they are.

Pull up a chair and listen to this!
The passing of unconscious judgement.

While they embellish themselves and activities,
In the midst of an attentive audience.
They begin...
Recreating their perceptions,
Of how one should be...
When one has both feet grounded on Earth.
With an unnecessary mocking of someone done.

And of course,
Their protrayal is the ultimate example...
Of how one's life is correctly lived!

Baiting To Receive

The only thing those in masquerade,
Are baiting to receive is a compliment.
Give it without commenting on the costume.
Unless you seek to play a round of charades!

Opinions Of Your Own

To find in your rebuttal,
A commenting on my debate...
With my issues extended,
By your interpretation...
Of my initiating statements,
Is at best...
Giving another side of my point of view!

If I wanted to argue with myself,
I would have videotaped...
My own opposing arguments made,
And not have had you here...
Declaring,
You have opinions of your own...
To express.

Haruna

Another panellist,
Substantiated,
Difficulty,
Commenting,
Works,
Suddenly!
But i have some substantial lead on this case like that of Haruna your friend;
Furthermore, do expect me to restate the legal maxim! !
For your notes are now in my hands,
And like a teacher who is about to go through the works of a students.

There Is Too Much Of Myself

THERE IS TOO MUCH OF MYSELF

There is too much of myself
Too much of me
I am everywhere
Words upon words upon words
Connecting and commenting
Reviewing and defending -

I would like a rest
I would like to hear myself forever be quiet
To never have to say or write anything else again

Small and quiet and lonesome and alone
Unheard unknown unread unlistened to
A little quiet secret on the edge of nowhere
Forever unheard.

Bad News Confrontation

No sooner had I reached
the western town I go to
than the bad news confronted me
regarding three friends of mine.
One had passed away
and two were in hospital,
one of those in intensive care
and the other recuperating well.
Not the best way to start
what I thought might be
a relaxing fun filled weekend.
I can only hope things
will start to get better.
Tomorrow is a brand new day
and hopefully the gloom I feel
will slowly start to fade away.

21 June 2008

Author’s note:
The gloom I spoke of is only now slowly fading away which explains my lack of commenting.

Comment As A Poem

The self-righteous Calvinists
who speak peace to Arminians
would say that we hold to 'doctrinal regeneration.'

'Doctrinal regeneration, ' they say,
is the view that knowledge of a certain doctrine
or set of doctrines is a prerequisite to salvation.

A new self! That is the effect of regeneration -
… created to be like God in true righteousness.
The salvation is a deliverance from the wrath of God,
deliverance from sin and guilt,
deliverance from Satan
and deliverance from death and hell.

But it is not only a deliverance from something -
it is also a deliverance unto something -
unto God, unto fellowship with God,
unto service to God,
and unto enjoyment of eternal life.

The Atum as the heart and tongue of Ptah
who is defined as: The Unknown God,
The Self-begotten God (Umvelinqani/mutangakugara) ,
The God of Gods,
The First Cause,
The Principle of Principles is also
the mind or spirit of Ptah.

Thus Atum is the first manifestation
of the Unknown God.
The God does not regenerate in self.
Therefore, only the universe regenerates in self.
So, God can be alone, separating good from bad
for recreating the Universe.
The Big Bang Theory describes very well...

I Am Not Old And I Am Not Nasty

hello baby sarah,
i am just experimenting on this craft,
an art, i am not old, and i am not nasty, i am just an experimental poet,
or trying to be one,
nothing personal, my daddy is dead, and so is my mommy,
grandpa too,
i am the fourth of the family of five,
got a brother who is a seaman
a sister as political activist,
another sister who is a probation officer,
the other is jobless
don't know but i just feel like writing, though i am not sought or read by many,
this is pure love of the craft,
i don't spread my legs and i don't ask you to do the same thing for me,
i got mine, long, hairy legs, muscled duo, ready for another art,
i won't ask you, but you may ask me,
with all respect and courtesy,
i am.

your reader, with the inability to appreciate
what you are doing, but let me try, who knows, if i become dumb
and deaf, blind and paraplegic,
for the meantime, thanks for commenting,
nothing hurts, nothing makes me inferior
if i do not allow it.

Dictators Nationalistic Drumbeat War Rhetoric

it is wise
before commenting
on the merits

of a cartoon
to hold
the tongue

view the cartoon
ascertain
all intrinsic merit

wisdom inherit
within themes images
classical themes

may contain
great wisdom modern
cartoons may prove

more repetitions
bang bang meaningless
images of violence

once masters
of wisdom instructed
in great tales

of wisdom now
hollow reads spawn
violence to sown

crafted violence
for dictators
nationalistic wars

Special Thanks

This is my 2000th poem,
though not all are posted here.
A lot of my early work
just failed to pass the test of time
and have been left locked away.
I always told myself that when I reached 2000
I would retire from poetry.
At least for a while.
I have other writing projects
that need my urgent attention
so I am saying a special thanks
to all those whom over the last two years
have read my poems
and left a comments here and there.
I also want to say thank you
to those who read my collaborations
with Jo Jo Bean and Meggie Gultiano
as Jo Jo Bean, Dodgy Dave and Meggie Gultiano,
and my alias Howard ‘Howie’ Johnson.
I say thank you to every one of you.
To say that I am leaving is not quit right;
I will still be reading and commenting
from time to time.
It is just that I will not be posting
for the foreseeable future.
Thank you once again for all the support
you have given me
and God Bless every one of you.

0211 It Takes All Sorts

It takes all sorts to make a world, they say
(how do 'they' know anyway?) :
but it certainly looks like that here this sunny day:

some just want to be as ordinary as they can be.
don't want to stand out in a crowd.
some don't want to be noticed at all.
some are the opposite - pompous, arrogant, reckon they've made it..
some have fallen flat on their face - as happens.
some get fresh flowers every week from secret admirers.
some are only smartened up once a year when their distant relations come to look them up.
some would like us to know that they know Latin or Greek or both.
some have a ready biblical text on their lips. Or a favourite hymn.
some are war heroes but are truly modest about it.
some are genuinely famous and want you to know it - or their relatives do.
some are unashamedly sentimental.
some are at the mercy of relatives who know what one should do.

The tombstones in Brompton Cemetery are a shoulder-to-shoulder lot;
too many to take in or care individually about
unless you check the one you've been sunbathing beside.

But as you rollerblade down the broad main avenue
in your sunglasses
with your sweater around your waist,
an ice-cream in one hand
and a small paper bag from the chemist in the other,
you may have missed that

every tombstone has a cheerful soul sitting on it
all looking about 35 years old, curiously,
swinging their feet in the sun and chatting with each other
and commenting lightly as you pass
with your doctor's prescription from the chemist,

wondering what you'll make of your life. Or have done so far....
You should listen to them one day.
They're pretty good judges of character by now.
But not everybody notices them.

Those That Merely Wait And Unmoved

walking, just walking, sometimes just this
no thoughts, no decisions, just plain walking

you see the light of the day
striking on the trees and plains and the daffodils

you are not part of it, you are just walking it
you are met by the wind from the mountain

you are not talking you are not interested about
what this wind these trees these daffodils are bringing you

you do not show any interest at all about some leaves falling
the light spreads and sprawls on the grass and sand and pebbles

you are not dazzled you are not completely covered by light
you are just walking, stepping into God's own creation

spectator, just plain walking in, not involved, not commenting
just plain watching, those that crawl and sprawl, those that stay and leave

those that simply lay themselves as plain receptors, grass and sang
mountains and trees, and daffodils, those that merely wait and unmoved.

It All Started With Her

The day faltered to an ignominious end,
Internet connection lost, email off, cannot
look up anything, headache caused by my
feasting on chips - and a cheese griller - for
breakfast, super recipe for culinary disaster

Felt so oppressed by the ubiquitous black I
wear everywhere; pulled out my ice-blue top
to be an Ice Princess again, start the dream
with the mirror playing along - light just right
in the afternoon to show a smiling stranger

With whom I can enact shows on my own -
yet I could try to be a good mother and wife
ask everybody about their lives, but getting
chased by Nici from her room with hubby
engaged in earnest technology research

I ensconced myself in the warm glow of the
kitchen - Tiaan entered and commented on
being allergic to egg, I inadvertently said all
allergic people should be shot, starting with
me, he enacted the scene, shooting all down

Commenting - when people enquired about
the shooting - he would point to my corpse
and say, ‘It All Started With Her…'
