What about Mickey Mouse? Disney tried very hard to make him a star. But Mickey Mouse is more of a symbol than a real character.

Missouri 2007
It was the year 2007,
that was the year Jean went to heaven.
I went to see the place she was raised,
she had an interesting life I do say.
She designed Hallmark’s house,
Her dad was friends with Walt Disney
who created Mickey Mouse.
She loved children,
for she designed a playground set,
She was very talented and the best.
A storyteller and a poet talented at age 8,
She edited her mom’s poems made them great.
Ted Nugent is her famous cousin,
I saw him perform at Iowa Jam,
He kept people buzzing.
Now I wear Jean’s ring,
she wanted to give me everything,
but that’s o.k. memories of her are the best thing.

All the children had to wear a gas mask in case of a gas attack by the Germans. They tried to make the masks like Mickey Mouse faces so the children would like them. But I didn't. They had big ears on them.

Even in China. Children there, next to the Great Wall, who had never seen Mickey Mouse responded. So the studio did have that skill to communicate with images.

I have thought about Happy Days made into a movie. As far as the original cast not being a part of it, wow, I don't know who could be who!I just don't see it going in that direction. I can see the original cast doing the movie very easily though.

Mariah Carey's Hideous Secret
Now promise you won’t tell anyone
(though what’s the fun of having a secret
if you can’t tell anyone? …)
Mariah Carey
was never a member of the
Mickey Mouse Club
when young, er, younger…
to which
some will say, wow, don’t you know a lot.
some will say, who’s Mariah Carey?
or, who the chic black rock chick cares…
or, smartipantsly, well you could guess couldn’t you.
or just, cool -
…and go on with what they’re doing.
or, didn’t know you had pub quizzes at your local.
or, good for her.
or dead straight like, I didn’t know it was still running,
I remember I was a member of…etc.
or something Village Jewish and TV-scripwriterly like
and were you still dressed when she whispered that?
while LA insiders say, silly girl,
all the big agents say
sign up for Mickey whatever your age
before you audition for Disney Corp's
music side
or it's something deadpan and very NY so you don’t know whether
it’s a joke or not, like
is product placement in poetry a growing market?
or give you that look that they’ve perfected
for sad losers and say
get a life man
it’s a poetry site and you spend your time
on that Minnie-quiz ha ha
how long did it take you to get that one right anyway
when you don’t even know the names of the other three

Bedtime For Toys
Close your eyes, beddy bye tin soldier,
Mommy says that its time for sleep,
If my folks were wiser and older,
Theyd know kids and toys dont need sleep.
Dont be bad little cotton dolly,
See how nice mickey mouse sleeps now?
Even my brass drummer boy has stopped all his noise,
Cause he knows its past bedtime for toys.
(speaking)
Ya know, every christmas santa claus goes all over the world with his reindeer,
Sled, and a big bag of toys and hell come to your house this year too.
But sometimes, just sometimes, he doesnt have enough time to see every little boy and girl because the world is so big.
So maybe we should sing a song for all the children that santa didnt visit.
Bless the child who has no tin soldier,
No brass drummer boy to put to bed.
He will still grow wiser and older,
Loving one small rag doll instead.
He wont have a cotton dolly,
Mickey mouse wont come to his house.
Hold that rag doll to your heart, nothing can destroy
The beauty one shall find in one small toy

Affirming That...
Attract good health,
To me and my home.
Attract wealth of understanding,
And an abundance condoned...
To me and my home.
Attract goodwill and love,
To me and my home.
Attract a forgiveness shared,
To me and my home.
Attract an increased love of God,
To me and my home.
Attract those of faith and encouragement,
To me and my home.
Attract a giving that receives graciously,
To me and my home.
Attract a growth that knows its worth,
To me and my home.
Attract a success
That leaves a mind at peace and rest.
With friends and family,
All feeling a 'givingness'.
And let it be known...
That in my home dwells a heart,
Affirming that which it needs...
To deliver what God expects!
As I journey upon this path,
He enlightens...
Whenever I come to pray to Him and ask,
For guidance to assist me
With all He gives and my tasks...
With Him I know I will pass!
And in the doing,
I am hopeful...
To attract to my life the best God has,
For me and those affirming that!
Affirming 'that' to ourselves at last!
