I deeply believe in pluralism. I believe in the close proximity of multiple systems or agnostic systems.

We are losing our living systems, social systems, cultural systems, governing systems, stability, and our constitutional health, and we're surrendering it all at the same time.

I had been here five years already, training very hard, learning about the systems, the shuttle, the station systems. But, everything really became real when I started to work with them.

We were gradually playing larger venues and in the early days PA systems were kind of non-existent. So to play loud, we had to use louder equipment. The PA systems back then didn't mic the instruments - only the vocals.

Biological engineering is not necessarily understanding systems but rather, I want to be able to design and build biological systems to perform particular applications.
In my case, I used the elements of these simple forms - square, cube, line and color - to produce logical systems. Most of these systems were finite; that is, they were complete using all possible variations. This kept them simple.

All Systems Go
If you're ready to fall in love
Here's the thing you've been dreaming of
Scientific fact that you should know
If you're ready to give your heart
And you don't know which way to start
And you're afraid you'll go against the flow
Ask anyone who's ever been given the blow
If you'll know when all systems are go
All systems go

In my daily work, I work on very large, complex, distributed systems built out of many Python modules and packages. The focus is very similar to what you find, for example, in Java and, in general, in systems programming languages.

That inefficiency is masked because growth and progress are measured in money, and money does not give us information about ecological systems, it only gives information about financial systems.

We have managed to acquire $13 trillion of debt on our balance sheet. In my view we have nothing to show for it. We haven't invested in our roads, our bridges, our waste-water systems, our sewer systems. We haven't even maintained the assets that our parents and grandparents built for us.

A matter that seems to be very clear in terms of the alternative view, is what do you expect to happen in Africa with regard to immune systems, where people are poor, subject to repeat infections and all of that. Surely you would expect their immune systems to collapse.

I say we have not even had the decency to maintain the assets that our parents and grandparents built for us - our roads, our bridges, our wastewater systems, our sewer systems; by the way, those weren't Bolsheviks, those weren't socialists that built those things for us - much less build the infrastructure we need for the 21st century.

Walking On A Wire
i'm the one you've been hanging 'round
just stop hearing any sound
found you face down on the ground
found a friend never could be found
i've been waiting around
systems failing now
on your honor so i hear
it's never been your fault you swear
is the union based on fear?
tenement of tears
i've been waiting
systems failing
walking on a wire on the ground
is this all your world tonight?
is this all your world tonight?
have to tell a lie
to avoid a brutal fight
i've been waiting
systems failing
walking on a wire on the ground

In a previous life I wrote the software that controlled my physics experiments. That software had to deal with all kinds of possible failures in equipment. That is probably where I learned to rely on multiple safety nets inside and around my systems.

A mathematical conjecture
A mathematical conjecture
or An ode to Vladimir Tonchev
Is when quasi-symmetric designs
Reach two stage disjunctive testing
Upon subtracting the discrete numbers.
They form systems of sets
And cyclotomy of self orthogonal
Codal length.
Now, I know this means little
For those with a cerebral weakness
For unevenly distributed sets of digits
However, were you faintly acquainted
With algorithms solving for optimal
Difference systems of sets
and line spreads you’d be avoiding
such conflict of codes of length
in finite geometries.

The Base Of All Metaphysics
AND now, gentlemen,
A word I give to remain in your memories and minds,
As base, and finale too, for all metaphysics.
(So, to the students, the old professor,
At the close of his crowded course.)
Having studied the new and antique, the Greek and Germanic systems,
Kant having studied and stated--Fichte and Schelling and Hegel,
Stated the lore of Plato--and Socrates, greater than Plato,
And greater than Socrates sought and stated--Christ divine having
studied long,
I see reminiscent to-day those Greek and Germanic systems, 10
See the philosophies all--Christian churches and tenets see,
Yet underneath Socrates clearly see--and underneath Christ the divine
I see,
The dear love of man for his comrade--the attraction of friend to
friend,
Of the well-married husband and wife--of children and parents,
Of city for city, and land for land.
