Your outlook upon life, your estimate of yourself, your estimate of your value are largely colored by your environment. Your whole career will be modified, shaped, molded by your surroundings, by the character of the people with whom you come in contact every day.

Why should we think upon things that are lovely? Because thinking determines life. It is a common habit to blame life upon the environment. Environment modifies life but does not govern life. The soul is stronger than its surroundings.

When the first flint, the first shell, was shaped into a weapon, that action shaped man. As he molded and complicated his tools, so they molded and complicated him. He became the first scientific animal. And at last, via information theory and great computers, he gained knowledge of all his parts. He formed the Laws of Integration, which reveal all beings as part of a pattern and show them their part in the attern. There is only the pattern; the pattern is all the universe, creator and created.

The revealing alter values
Had I known that this beggar
Was once a councilor
My treatment would have been different.
Had I known that this leader
Was once a rascal
My estimate would have been different.
The revealing alters values.

Don’t get indignant.
Be not indignant at one
If he has valued you low
Or less than you expected.
It is his estimate of you.
It is within you to throw
The fruit that tastes you bitter
Or train the tongue to suit it.
