I do see value in music criticism. Most of the criticism I have received over the years has been very good.

If government, or those in positions of power and authority, can silence criticism by the argument that such criticism might be misunderstood somewhere, there is an end to all criticism, and perhaps an end to our kind of political system. For men in authority will always think that criticism of their policies is dangerous. They will always equate their policies with patriotism, and find criticism subversive.

Two Faced People
People are two faced beings
conformist cons everything people dislike
People lie to keep their selves alive
Material is what become a necessity
this gives people that two faced entity
why must we conform to what people think let alone what they expect
no one is perfect unless your me just joking its difference that makes us unique
People have two faced one of different traits
one white one black or a latin hispanic
You can be who you want if you 'front' and conform
people forget who they
how could people loose them selves in todays world
deep in regret after every breath sucking air as if your souls a drifts
People true selfs hide friends die no one ever cries
lovers, like never last for more than one night
over the moon yesterdays faced flew.

I've had trouble with criticism, I guess. It's hard to know what role criticism plays in either encouraging poets or in getting other people to read them.

Two Faced Woman
Miles from home
So many things go round
So far - the fight in me so strong
Years of pain
Ive suffered all the same
Today - I know I will be near
You talk about romance
You blew your only chance
cause youre a two faced woman
But Im a three faced man
cause youre a two faced woman
I got a hangmans hand
Dirty tricks
I found out just in time
Enough - dont dare to cross the line
You - you fooled around
I found a way out
The tables turned - your bridges burned
You talk about romance
You blew your only chance
cause youre a two faced woman
But Im a three faced man
cause youre a two faced woman
I got a hangmans hand
cause youre a two faced woman
But Im a three faced man
cause youre a two faced woman
Youll live in nightmare land
Payback time - spin the dime
The balance overdue
Payback time - take a hike
You broke the golden rule
cause youre a two faced woman
But Im a three faced man
cause youre a two faced woman
I got a hangmans hand
cause youre a two faced woman
But Im a three faced man
cause youre a two faced woman
Youll live in nightmare land

On the Critical Attitude
The critical attitude
Strikes many people as unfruitful
That is because they find the state
Impervious to their criticism
But what in this case is an unfruitful attitude
Is merely a feeble attitude. Give criticism arms
And states can be demolished by it.
Canalising a river
Grafting a fruit tree
Educating a person
Transforming a state
These are instances of fruitful criticism
And at the same time instances of art.

Lots of people who complained about us receiving the MBE received theirs for heroism in the war - for killing people. We received ours for entertaining other people. I'd say we deserve ours more.

If you can't fully believe in your ideas, it very quickly communicates to a group of actors who need something to hold onto. They need to believe that whatever criticism, whatever comment is received, is meant.

No Conclusion Can Be Laid
A long time ago
in a land far away
lived a young boy
whom in his tomorrows
many tears he would cry.
In his heart, he wished to fly,
soar near the heavens
where the eagles gather.
His talent was criticized
and rebuked by his family
and even some of his friends joined in.
In the shadows of his world
each night where no one could see
he shed his tears in private
deep in the loneliness he felt.
Many years have passed
and his friends have become fewer.
Age stripped away his youth,
but his talent remained.
In that, there were no borders
or obstacles to cross.
He kept his talent to himself.
Why share it with an angry world
whose only contentment
was to put him down.
Then one day came a chance,
he took it reluctantly
fearing all the criticism he might receive
and the tears he might once again cry.
However it was a surprise to him
when someone, a stranger
recognised the talent he had.
Instead of criticism, he received praise.
Soon the tears of sadness
were replaced with tears of joy.
That boy, a man now
much older and much wiser
shares his wisdom with everyone
whom from its glass cares to drink.
There is no ending to this story
no conclusion can be laid.
Only in the future
and by a higher power
will that decision be made.

What Are You Doing New Years Eve
Written by frank loesser
Maybe its much too early in the game
Ooh, but I thought Id ask you just the same
What are you doing new years
New years eve?
Wonder whose arms will hold you good and tight
When its exactly twelve oclock that night
Welcoming in the new year
New years eve
Maybe Im crazy to suppose
Id ever be the one you chose
Out of the thousand invitations
You received
Ooh, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance:
What are you doing new years
New years eve?
Maybe Im crazy to suppose
Id ever be the one you chose
Out of the thousand invitations
You received
Ooh, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance:
What are you doing new years
New years eve?

Learn to control ego. Humans hold their dogmas and biases too tightly, and we only think that our opponents are dogmatic! But we all need criticism. Criticism is the only known antidote to error.

Gods Favoured Me
Heat – no air-con today – realising France’s dream of
saving their coastline due to the Greenhouse effect,
went for a lunch-break stroll singing all the way,
refusing to contemplate office problems
The gods favoured me on my first day, email connection
restored, now I am so privileged to read criticism of the
work I did before leaving on holiday, I am still girdling
my loins with positive thoughts
Before tackling heartbreaking rejection of words I wrote,
New Year’s Resolution: never face today what can be
deferred to tomorrow, stop and smell the roses, I can
read nasty remarks any time
The mere fact of having an office in which to be miserable
is such a source of joy and delight, not to be spoilt with
feelings of inadequacy; why cry about the humours of
those in charge trying to convince me I am
A disaster because I cannot write the words they dictate,
cannot march to the tune they prescribe, kept in my place
by them changing their translation rules every day - I am
thankful that I can still think and feel after years
As a civil servant, I should have turned into a cyborg ages
ago, yet the incessant stream of criticism proves I am still
the same human I was at the beginning – people like me
cannot be changed into robots
No matter how much criticism is directed our way, olé!

Dog Faced Boy
Eels - dog faced boy
-----------------------
Coming home from the school today
Crying all along the way
Aint no way for a boy to be
Begging ma to shave me please
You little punks think you own this town
Well someday someones gonna bring you down
Life aint pretty for a dog faced boy
Life aint pretty for a dog faced boy
You, take back what you said now
Thats the last time I cry
You tell me what it is to be a friend, now
till I walk beside you on the street now
Ma wont shave me
Jesus cant save me
Dog faced boy
Life aint pretty for a dog faced boy
Life aint pretty for a dog faced boy
Life aint pretty for a dog faced boy
Life aint pretty for a dog faced boy
Going back to the school tomorrow
Hang my hairy head in sorrow
Aint no way for a boy to be
Aint no way to set me free, now
Ma wont shave me
Jesus cant save me
Dog faced boy
Ma wont shave me
Jesus cant save me
Dog faced boy

Ain't It Funny
It was too early for a romance
And already I've received the criticism of the tongue
Not knowing of the true nature of our relationship
Instead it is based on assumption that we're an item
Friends, say that I am no good
And that you're wasting time with me
It'll never amount to what you desire
But that's not how I see things
Because I feel that your just a friend
And nothing else beyond that
People always talk about false information
Should I care what was said? Ain't it funny
Friends whisper unnessary things in your ear
Should I care what was shared? Ain't it funny
You seem somewhat affected, Don't let it get under your skin
You know of our history
Friends always seem to mention
the bad things that I do
When It's none of their business
Ain't it Funny

Level of Expectation
The more one does for others,
The more that level of expectation increases.
People are seldom satisfied by that which is given.
Especially if it has been received without effort.
And if what is received has been stolen...
Then there is absolutely no appreciation at all.
If fact...
The craving for theft never ceases.
It becomes a birthright!
