That's the most difficult issue for me... to find a subject that holds my interest long enough that I'm prepared to go to work and spend the time and energy to shoot the subject.

The Subject On This Love
The subject on this love is an object,
And the object is very sound and beautiful;
The subject on this love is a valley,
And the valley is very quiet and lovely;
The subject on this love is a fruit,
And the fruit is very sound and attractive;
The subject on this love is a mountain,
And the mountain is very high and lonely;
The subject on this love is a river,
And the river is very smooth and slippery;
The subject on this love is a seed,
And the seed is very fruitful and sweet;
The subject on this love is your milk,
And your milk is very thick and sweet;
The subject on this love is your lake,
And your lake is very fresh and aromantic;
The subject on this love is a garden,
And the garden is very thick and bushy;
The subject on this love is a room,
And that room is very romantic and peaceful;
The subject on this love is your apples,
And your apples are very passinate and emotional;
The subject on this love is a tree,
And that tree is very tall and bushy;
But the peace of this subject brings is like,
Two lovers swimming across the blue sea of love and blues.

Not until, years later, I found my true interest in life did I discover that I could master a subject, no matter how difficult, if it helped me in what I wanted to do.

It's much more difficult to work on a broad subject than on a specific one, because even if it's hard to find the information, if you look hard enough for something specific you will find it, and you will discover things that you wouldn't have thought of before.

I tend to arrive in the rehearsal process with very strongly developed ideas about what I want to do. But I don't like those ideas to be things that are not subject to change, or subject to development, or subject to challenge.

Love Is Not Love
Love is not love if it comes with thought of condition;
A heart is not alive unless it is capable of submission
To the ardor it holds for another that naught may explain.
Love is not love if but mere time may sustain
Not, the fervor of same-
As though an eternal flame
That is subject to the sands of time;
So long as word, at the hands of rhyme,
May proffer explication of its lasting power,
It shall stand not prey, to the passing hour!
Love is not love if it bends, buckles, or breaks:
Love is subject but to the same it makes
Of another and contrariwise, naught more-
It is not our's to wonder: 'how? ', or 'what for? '.

I find the subject of childhood fascinating. I explored this subject in Speak to me of love and I am curious about portraying the often painful transition into the adult world.

I'd never painted anything before. I was quite content to take other people's work since I didn't care anyway about the subject matter. I approached subject matter as a scoundrel. I had nothing to say about it whatsoever. I only wanted to make these exciting paintings.

I have thoroughly gone through the subject of the Incarnation; and if it served you, could at any time give you the history from the beginning of the controversies on this subject, and of its present form.

At a time when the GOP is playing games with the debt limit, a member of the Supreme Court is refusing to recuse himself from matters he has a financial interest in, and middle class incomes are stagnant, many want to change the subject. I don't. This was a prank, and a silly one. I'm focused on my work.

Only If It Is Advantageous
Only if it is advantageous,
Will a renewed interest shown...
In someone ignored,
Be done!
Only when an attention has been given,
Will those even notice...
Something or someone under their noses,
Has achieved some degree of notoriety!
And 'shock' not jealousy,
Is the first impression expressed.
And it isn't as if,
What one does has changed at all.
It's the idea that someone else places a value,
On what some has labelled,
Crap, trash or just junk!
And that value is discovered to have merit!
To bring a benefit to not one but to all!
More support would have been shown.
IF a warning of this had been previously known!
~Who knew...
That someone slated for greatness,
Was the subject of irritation placed?
And daily disgraced...
But took it?
Is it too late to change our minds,
And show a deep love and loyalty? ~
Only if it is advantageous,
Will a renewed interest shown...
In someone ignored,
Be done!
And that someone ignored...
May be someone's brother, cousin,
Sister, mother, daugther, father or son...
That had been told more than once,
They should do something else...
Since they are wasting time doing nothing!
At least nothing that is getting legitimately done.
Nothing that is making an impression on anyone!
'Ooooo...
How low can nasty go? '
~Who knew...
That someone slated for greatness,
Was the subject of irritation placed?
And daily disgraced...
But took it?
Only if it is advantageous,
Will a renewed interest shown...
In someone ignored,
Be done! ~
And that someone who has been ignored...
Has not survived thriving under a rock!

In every work of art the subject is primordial, whether the artist knows it or not. The measure of the formal qualities is only a sign of the measure of the artist's obsession with his subject; the form is always in proportion to the obsession.

I am at war... with the principal personage of traditional philosophy, that abstract subject who masquerades as everyone and anyone, but is really a male subject in disguise.
You don't say to a university professor who is immersed in a particular subject that they should get a life. They are encouraged to enjoy their subject and to pass it on.

Stuff Never Discussed...
Death-with-dignity is a subject that is never discussed,
They are not sick or going to die soon, so why cause a fuss?
And the Sue Rodriguez case was so very long ago,
Most Canadians never heard of it and just don't know.
But we are all very equal in that we are going to die,
Though we can't arrange the time and place, and I don't know why,
Something to do with religion, ethics, fear and commands from above,
Hidden subject, seldom discussed by those we claim to love.
They can do it in Switzerland and Oregon and other places,
Ottawa aristocrats tell us, we can't do it, right to our faces,
We should have a referendum but that too is not allowed,
Though they say we have democracy; this too from the same crowd.

Mister Fix It
I need to be there.
And not subject myself to riddles.
Just be there,
And put to rest...
My need to split!
I...
Need,
To be there!
And not subject myself to riddles.
Or feel I'm in the middle of something misfit!
I need to be there.
And not subject myself to riddles.
Just be there,
And put to rest...
My need to split!
I...
Need,
To be there!
And not subject myself to riddles.
Or feel I'm in the middle of something misfit!
Whenever I am called to play Mister Fix-It...
I need to be there.
To give time to it.
Whenever I am called to play Mister Fix-It...
I need to be there.
To give time to it.
I've never give up on a love,
I could not keep before we split.
It seems as if we've gotten use to getting a bit!
I need to be there.
Never give up on loving it,
Once a week.
Just...
To keep it secret!
B-b-b-be there.
And not subject myself to riddles.
Just be there,
And put to rest...
My need to split!
Just be there,
Whenever I am called to play Fix-It Quick.
I need to be there,
To give time to it.
Just be there,
And not subject myself to riddles.
Or feel I'm in the middle of something misfit!
Whenever I am called to play Mister Fix-It...
I need to be there.
To give time to it.
Just be there,
And not subject myself to riddles.
Just be there,
And not subject myself to riddles.
