When I look at some of my old work, the pieces I find most interesting are the ones with people in them.

In this business, my business, I get to meet all kinds of incredible people, fascinating people, glamorous people and sexy people and highly intellectual people. And you meet them and you go 'interesting, interesting, interesting'. They're interesting, but not very many people stop you in your tracks.

And I think a good writer's gonna make it interesting. From the first paragraph it will all be interesting. Just work at it and work at it and work at it.

I live for my work, apart from my family who come first. And I live to tell stories and pretend to be other people, it's something I've been doing since I was 3 years old. Maybe it's because I'm intrinsically bored with myself, and I find other people more interesting.

One & Only (feat. Twista)
I'm lookin' for my one and only
Every time I turn around
I find my heart in pieces on the ground
So so lonely
I'm lookin' for my one and only
I'm riding home in pain again baby
But that don't mean s*** to you
You're currently engaged
In an intimate conversation
With a young groupie or two
They say "players only love you
when they're playing games"
Still I gave my heart to you
I should have stayed away
Like my friends all told me to
[chorus]
Every time I turn around
I find my heart in pieces on the ground
So so lonely
I'm lookin' for my one and only
Every time I turn around
I find my heart in pieces on the ground
Why can't I find my one and only
See I'm looking for a man that'll rub me slow
Make me sing real high
When he goes down low
But see it ain't just a physical thing
He's gotta treat me affectionately
And I gotta know he won't betray my trust
Just like every other motherf***** does
Is this just an impossible dream baby
To elusive to pursue
It's been such a sad and windy road for me
Just searchin' for the truth
[chorus]
Every time I turn around
I find my heart in pieces on the ground
So so lonely
I'm lookin' for my one and only
Every time I turn around
I find my heart in pieces on the ground
Why can't I find my one and only
Every time----oh-mmm
Every time I turn around
I find my heart in pieces on the ground
So so loney
Why---
I'm looking for my one and only
Every time I turn around
Agh---ha ha ha ha
I find my heart in pieces on the ground
Whey can't I find my one and only
Still lookin' for my one and only
Every time I turn around
Agh---ha ha ha ha
I find my heart in pieces on the ground
So so lonely
Yay-
I'm lookin' for my one and only
I'm lookin' for my one and only
Every time I turn around
Agh-ha ha ha ha
I find my heart in pieces on the ground
I'm lookin' for my one and only
Why can't I find my one and only
Agh--

I also find it interesting that a lot of people in their 30s are not married and don't have kids. There are a lot of people in this age bracket that are out there dating and trying to find love. And I never thought that at my age I would be.

Paul Riser tells it in an interesting way; he dissects it and tells the structure, you know, 'you don't mention that part here.' But that's what's interesting about it and the people who are absent are interesting too.
Love Is Nothing
You thought I was something from afar
You thought Id totally excite you
I guess its just another thing to stand up close and ignite you
Love is nothing, nothing, nothing like they say
You gotta pick up the little pieces everyday
You were telling me the friends we have in common
By the time I figured it out you were yawning
Love is nothing, nothing, nothing like they say
You gotta get up and work the people everyday
And I thought,
Who am i?
Whos this guy?
Would I lie to make the day blur into the night?
Love is nothing, nothing, nothing like they say
You gotta pick up the little pieces everyday
Love is nothing, nothing, nothing like they say
You gota get up and work the people everyday

Valediction....
it was never me
there is never a part of me that was there
you have misinterpreted the truth about those characters of the novel,
the words in that poem
the metaphors are outdated
refer to another reality,
the reality that i have carried upon my shoulders
i am the horse, not that horseman,
i am not the star, i am just the asteroid at the background
i am the silence between your sighs,
do not read my silence,
you will find a word that cannot stand for me,
i am not even that tail of that great meteor that comes to your life
once in a century
it is not me that you see in those flowing words,
they are those pieces of undecided driftwood that i pick from the great flood
those dry falling leaves that land on my forehead
from the great tree of life
do you really have to find pieces of myself in those lines to make
the write-up interesting to you?
i am so sorry
call me a liar, but that is the truth
there is truth in empathy
there is truth in putting our feet in some other people's shoes
that is what literature is all about
read some more and be discouraged
fathom and then
be enlightened about the sufferings of others
their miseries that soon shall provide you company
when you sit upon a chair with a smoke in your left hand
and a margarita (or black coffee) on your right
upon an empty table
facing the sea
witnessing the beautiful fading
on another sunset
in your life
do not wish that i shall be there
oh, i have long been gone into another island
do not attempt to find me
i am not there anymore.

Dreaded Requests
I am not a rude or ignorant man,
but there are some things,
that I will not do.
Unfortunately, I do not like
to read a lot of what
I am politely requested to read.
I am often bombarded by people
asking me to read
and comment on their work.
I do not like to be rude
and ignore their pleas,
but I just read what I like,
not what I am asked to read.
I choose whom I like,
if I see a title I find interesting
I will take the time to read it
and make a mental note of the author.
If I like what I read,
I will dip into that author’s work
time and time again.
I do not care if they read my work or not
that is their choice and I have mine.
All I ask is let me make up my own mind.
Do not bombard me with notes
requesting that I read your work,
as I am likely to ignore them.
I am not being rude or ignorant
it is I just do not do requests.

Many People
Many people are here
Many people are not
Many people have left
Many people have come -
We have seen many people that are not here.
Many people have died
Many people have lived -
The many people we loved and do love, have gone and left us.
Many of our friends and family are lost
For fear has taken me.
The pieces have fallen and broken and can’t be fixed
Those pieces were my life
And now my life is gone
For I am alone with none to guide me through my time
I am alone
I am alone.

Interesting
There are so many different types of interesting.
Maybe you were trying to use a euphemism.
Most people don't want to hear a dysphemism.
You might of thought it was irresistible.
Theres a opinion going around that it was unfashionable.
Maybe it was very very sad.
Oh no you didn't say is was very very bad.
No one got to hear anything except that it was very interesting.
Its too bad because you had so many types of interesting.
Fall To Pieces
It's been a long year
Since you've been gone
I've been alone here
I've grown old
I fall to pieces, I'm falling
Fell to pieces and I'm still falling
Every time I'm falling down
All alone I fall to pieces
I keep a journal of memories
I'm feeling lonely, I can't breathe
I fall to pieces, I'm falling
Fell to pieces and I'm still falling
All the years I've tried
With more to go
Will the memories die
I'm waiting
Will I find you
Can I find you
We're falling down
I'm falling

Jesus Was A Man
JESUS WAS A MAN
HE WAS BETTER THAN YOU OR I
AND THEY DIDN'T TELL HIM
NO THEY TELL HIM
YOU DIDN'T KNOW
HITLER WAS A MAN
HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE
EVERYBODY SAID SOMEONE ELSE
BUT THEY KNOW THAT IS A LIE
YEAH, GANDHI WAS A MAN
HE TOOK THE MILLIONS AND GAVE THEM MORE
WE ALL ADORE
I SAID IT LONG AGO WHEN THE SITUATIONS SCREAM SO TRUE
ALL OF IT WAS LONG AGO IN HUMANITY
SO CLIMB OUT OF THE CRADLE AND SHOW YOURSELF
TO THE REST OF HUMANITY
'COS I TOLD YOU LONG AGO EVEN THOUGH YOU KNOW YOURSELF
AND ALL YOU THOUGHT WAS TRUE, SO TRUE, TOO TRUE
THE PIECES OF YOU
LITTLE PIECES, LITTLE PIECES OF YOU
OHLITTLE PIECES OF ME AND YOU
JESUS WAS A MAN
HE WAS BETTER THAN YOU OR I
NO ONE TOLD HIM, NO ONE KNEW
HITLER WAS A MAN
YOU KNOW IT
IN HUMANITY TO MAN
PIECES OF YOU
LITTLE PIECES OF ME AND YOU
OHOH
LITTLE PIECES OF ME AND YOU
OHOHOH

Since I Lost You
It seems in a moment, your whole world can shatter
Like morning dreams they just disappear
Like dust in your hand falling to the floor
How can life ever be the same
Cos my heart is broken in pieces
Yes my heart is broken in pieces
Since youve been gone
Its all too easy to take so much for granted
Oh but its so hard to find the words to say
Like a castle in the sand the water takes away
But how can life ever be the same
Cos my heart is broken in pieces
Yes my heart is broken in pieces
Since Ive lost you
Oh now youll never see
Oh youll never know
All the things I planned for you
Things for you and me
Held your hand so tightly
That I couldnt let it go
Now how can life ever be the same
Cos my heart is broken in pieces
Yes my heart is broken in pieces
Since youve been gone
Cos my heart is broken in pieces
Yes my heart is broken in pieces
Since Ive lost you
Cos my heart is broken in pieces
Yes my heart is broken in pieces
Since youve been gone

Choose the work for worthy time
The work, linked with profit is not boring.
The work, linked with reward is interesting.
The work, linked with the ego is untiring.
The work, linked with love is inspiring
The work linked with sex is tempting
Other than these, what work you do
amounts to the waste of life.

An interesting thing happened in 1989, right as I was graduating: the stock market crashed and really changed the landscape of the art world in New York. It made the kind of work I was doing interesting to galleries that wouldn't have normally been interested in it.
