So a more sensible thing it seemed to me was to go to Silicon Valley and be pushing on the technology companies to accelerate the use of audio and music in computers.

Finnish companies tend to be very traditional, not taking many risks. Silicon Valley is completely different: people here really live on the edge.

From a technical point of view, there seemed to me to be absolutely no reason why - with the existing technology - we couldn't do very high quality audio, because whereas the boom in digital graphics is ongoing, the boom in digital audio has already happened.

Some of touch
Music not
A song...
Music not a
A sound...
Music not a
A shout...
Music not a
A hit...
Music not
A Pop...
Music not
A key boad...
Music is not
A audio CD
Music is not
A devil...
Music is not
A god...
Music is only
Only for some of touch...
With ear to heart....!

The beautiful thing about hip-hop is it's like an audio collage. You can take any form of music and do it in a hip-hop way and it'll be a hip-hop song. That's the only music you can do that with.

It was supposed to be a year or two just to refresh my batteries, but I moved to Silicon Valley in the early 90's, and one thing let to another, got very involved in high tech, and formed a company and it ended up doing pretty well.

Keep On Trying
Everybody is lazy
Nobody wants to do anything
Everyones crazy
At times I think Ive had enough of it
Living together
Its not a easy thing to begin
Making life a little better
Takes the power of your second please
Ive been around to love
Im trying hard, I know
I havent reach my ball
Ill do what I have to do
Someday well see it through
As long as I have you
Weve got to keep on pushing
(weve got to keep on pushing)
Weve got to keep on trying
(weve got to keep on trying)
Weve got to keep on pushing
(weve got to keep on pushing)
Weve got to keep on trying
(weve got to keep on trying)
Weve got to keep on pushing
(weve got to keep on pushing)
Weve got to keep on trying
(weve got to keep on trying)
Weve got to keep on pushing
(weve got to keep on pushing)
Weve got to keep on trying
(weve got to keep on trying)

Every Little Thing She Does
Freshman year mama asked waht do you wanna
do when you get out of here.
i said well gee, i'm only 13, but i think i'd like to play my guitar
be a star
She well thats not it you got some time to go
good sense will kick in any time you know.
i'm not worried, i'm not worried
Softmore year she asked the same old thing,
my answer had remained unchanged
i saw her fidgit with her thumbs,
she said you like computers John, you like computers don't you
you see i always see with a computer you like computers
maybee you could do something with computers yea wouldn't that be nice
Junior year, its a little more tense she says,
what do you want to do with your life?
i'm not on the fence i know exactly what i am to be
and i'm only 17.
she well all i ask is that you pay attention in class,
so if you happen to xhange your mind in time you can still go
so where reputible, do us proud.
so i went down stairs and played the guitar loud.
yea and senior its the same old question
she said what you wanna do?
i said play my guitar and sing, she said theres no such thing,
she said thers no such thing

An ode to the diode
Beginning from the vacuum diode
The long forgotten tetrode and pentode
Small devices which drove large loads
To them I dedicate this ode
They took shape as a mechanical switch
Driven by an electromagnetic relay
However, they operated with a glitch
And also with a terrible delay
They made the first computer as big as a room
A very slow machine, nevertheless smug
The end was heralded quite soon
Between the contacts when they found a bug
A new era the vacuum tubes did usher
A result of brilliant innovation
They were promising and seemed to assure
For the existing problems a solution
Tubes required heating which dissipated power
That was a waste and a problem at hand
The remedy was silicon, as light as a flower
Available in abundance in grains of sand
Silicon replaced tubes and were called solid state
Designed to amplify, attenuate, flop and flip
They grew at a tremendously rapid rate
Millions integrated onto a single chip
The inventors had perhaps never dreamt
Of the uses silicon now does find
Whenever technology makes an advent
Electronics can never be left far behind
Any complex mathematical calculation
Is brought down to a simple logic
This is called the binary operation
But the switching has got to be pretty quick
Technology is but a means to an end
It all simmers down to a zero and one
Life needs to be lived, my friend
Packed with much laughter and fun

Farm On The Freeway
Nine miles of two-strand topped with barbed wire
Laid by the father for the son.
Good shelter down there on the valley floor,
Down by where the sweet stream run.
Now they might give me compensation...
Thats not what Im chasing. I was a rich man before yesterday.
Now all I have got is a cheque and a pickup truck.
I left my farm on the freeway.
Theyre busy building airports on the south side...
Silicon chip factory on the east.
And the big roads pushing through along the valley floor.
Hot machine pouring six lanes at the very least.
Now, they say they gave me compensation...
Thats not what Im chasing. I was a rich man before yesterday.
Now all I have left is a broken-down pickup truck.
Looks like my farm is a freeway.
They forgot they told us what this old land was for.
Grow two tons the acre, boy, between the stones.
This was no southfork, it was no ponderosa.
But it was the place that I called home.
They say they gave me compensation...
Thats not what Im chasing. I was a rich man before yesterday.
And what do I want with a million dollars and a pickup truck?
When I left my farm under the freeway.
