I really did try to write it so that an educated public that cares about issues like this doesn't have to be a lawyer and can read it and understand it.

The Ballade Of The Average Reader

I try to touch the public taste,
For thus I earn my daily bread.
I try to write what folks will paste
In scrap books after I am dead.
By Public Craving I am led.
(I' sooth, a most despotic leader)
Yet, though I write for Tom and Ned,
I've never seen an average reader.

The Editor is good and chaste,
But says: (Above the public's head;
This is _too_ good; 'twill go to waste.
Write something commonplacer-
Ed.)
Write for the average reader, fed
By pre-digested near-food's feeder,
But though my high ideals have fled,
I've never _seen_ an average reader.

How many lines have been erased!
How many fancies have been shed!
How many failures might be traced
To this-this average-reader dread!
I've seen an average single bed;
I've seen an average garden-weeder;
I've seen an average cotton thread-
I've _never_ seen an average _reader_.

L'ENVOI

Most read of readers, if you've read
The works of any old succeeder,
You know that he, too, must have said:
'I've never seen an Average Reader.'

usually easiest to write
but in my twenties

realized it was

read nothing serious

P. L. You

Well there's no surprise
One look into those eyes
Having sex every saturday
In the afternoon, with the tv on
It's all you know
It really makes you wanna throw
It could be time for a holiday
On the s. o. f. or a spanish isle
Too much comes too soon
Money doesn't buy you anything good
No love can be alone
Just lay back and give it to the bastards!
Nothing ever really matters
Who cares about you anyway?
Nothing ever really matters
Who cares who lives, who dies?
(p,l,you, p,l,you) not me
(p,l,you, p,l,you) or you
Oh you claim distressed
When you are so casually blessed
With a look in the alleyway
Consume a tuna fish in an old tin can
Too much, you come too soon
Money doesn't buy you anything good
No love can be alone
Just lay back and give it to the bastards!
(p,l,you, p,l,you) nothing ever really matters
(p,l,you, p,l,you) who cares about you anyway?
(p,l,you, p,l,you) nothing ever really matters
(p,l,you, p,l,you) who cares who lives, who dies?
Welcome back my ...
Welcome back ,oh end of the life
Understand me here and now ....
Got to get away
(p,l,you, p,l,you), (p,l,you, p,l,you)
(p,l,you, p,l,you), (p,l,you, p,l,you)
(p,l,you, p,l,you) nothing ever really matters
(p,l,you, p,l,you) who cares about you anyway?
(p,l,you, p,l,you) nothing ever really matters
(p,l,you, p,l,you) who cares who loves, who stays
In the end, of this song
Not me
I'm gone....

Why I Write?

I write poems for myself and I write for the readers
I write for the masses and I write for the leaders
I write to imprint my thoughts in people's mind
I write to make the bad guys helpful and kind
I write to light up our path to Great God
I write for everyone home and abroad
I write to preserve values new and old
I write to make my ink precious like gold
I write for peace and I write for progress
I write to make the world a better place
All major issues I want to address
I write to see smile on God's face

The Blind Couple

I wanna write this poem
with my long black pen
I like this pen very much
ı ts writings
why I cannot understand
my brothers also lı ke the pens too
they are not just pens
they are indstruments brought from heaven
to write your petitions to somebady above
some like it black
some blue
some red
ı always prefer black
why I do not understand
now
GOD informed
at the beginning of the holy book
read....read...read and read again
then comes writing
so ı wanna read the world before writing
universe is not my business yet
look at thgis couple on the pavement
walkı ng cautı ously and care fully
a white long stick in yhe hand of the wife
tapping on the stones
listen to it
a child is in the bosom of the husband
clad clean and neat
you cannat calll them blind
they are walking with the help of god
walking happily
talking happı ly
like singing a hymn
thgey do not need any help
they willl lose lose balance
if you try to help
just watch them
leave them alone
ı try to clean my near sighted eyes
and try to read the far aways
but ı ı nderstand
ı have only read A..B.C..
of the divine alphabet
even them not so easily and clearly
when ı look at this couple
with a child in their bosoms
as their future and hope
ı understand the only
and the bitter truth
they were not blind
ı was the only...the pure blind
ı read it
and then write

Wing Pages Of The Butterfly

at the nursery
while people
are at purchase
and at transactions
a blue butterfly
comes by
and opens its pages to me
swift and quick
and it says to me:
'Read! Read!
Read my pages! '

'I can’t read, '
I say,
amused
at this brash butterfly

'Read and write!
Read and write
about me,
and all flitting butterflies
Read
and write, you silly! '
it commands

And so I read
and I copy
and these are the words
the words from those
pages
the butterfly
holds up to me

Issues

Issues are abound and around,
Issues break the hearts astound,
Issues encourage being excellent,
Issues envisage the predicament,
Issues are the oars to push the boat,
Issues are umbrellas, get wet, not protects,
Issues issue the ticket to the ground,
Imitate the quality of the dew on the grass,
To minimize the issues as small as possible,
When the dew reflects the tallest building,
on its smallest surface without illusion,
When the dew on the grass can reflect it,
Upside down in same proportion,
Why are we, human, afraid of issues?
Make it small and solve it.

Super Hero

Prince
Chorus:
I will be your super hero
But u must understand
If Im 2 be your super hero
U must give me half a chance
Listen 2 my band
I am born unto pverty and fear
I am scorned yet I hold back my tears
Theres so much I can and
Will and want 2 do
But I cannot until I get through 2 u
Chorus
I am lucky if I learn 2 read and write
Where I live u must first learn 2 stand and fight
Im the product of the system, Im aware
Whats my name, dont matter-nobody cares
Chorus
I understand u need me if u ever 2 war
But I dont understand if I buy the goods
Why I cant own the store
Dont tell me that I am not worthy
After 400 years overtime
If its yours then tell me
Why cant it be mine
I am just as good as u or any kind
And theres so much I can
And will and want 2 do
But I cannot until I get through 2 u
Chorus
Give us what u give your brothers
Then ull understand
That I wont be your super hero
Until u give us all u can now-now!

The Silence Of Indifference

if we do not write about rape issues
sensitive issues volatile issues explosive issues
if we do not voice our condemnation outrage

we then by default support these evils
with the silence of our indifference
with the silence of our fear cowardice

with our refusal to fight against injustice
with our refusal to fight prejudice inequality
with our refusal to fight for dignity for all humanity

Better Friend

A friend is better
If she gives you a frustrating kick
But doesn't cares,
If you aren't a fashionable chick

A friend is better,
If she spits many slangs at you
But doesn't cares,
If your nail polish is red or blue

A friend is better
If she shouts on you at the top of her voice
But doesn't boasts,
About brands of her choice

A friend is better,
If she bores you with Harry Potter talks all day
But, doesn't criticize,
If your hair looks like hay

A friend is better
If she gives you a headache
But still,
Is as sweet as a chocolate cake

I Just Do It For the Enjoyment

I hear this all the time:

'Oh?
So you're a writer?
What else do you do?
How much money do you make? '

I write poetry!

'Ooooohhh!
So you like to write 'poooems'?
I use to do that,
When I was in elementary school.
You make money from doing that? '

No.
I just do it for the enjoyment!

'Oh gawd!
You're one of those sentimentalists?
One driven by emotions and unresolved issues?
Confused by life!
And abused by a dysfunctional upbringing.'

I suppose.
But I currently have two books out!

'Nooooo?
But no one's into reading poetry! '

Me either.
I didn't say I read it!
I write it!

'Oh!
Well...
You 'must' be doing it for the money? '

Not yet!
That's next!

'You want me to help you? '

Philanderin' and phillarkin': How to be a Modern Poet We All Love

Just two things. Write so that we can
understand you while lurching in public transport
book in hand and understand you because
you’re like us but imaginative and funny with it
and make us think; but no fancy stuff:
we want to be sure you’ve been there,
done it, got it down on paper
and that it’s the same there as we’ve been;

and the other thing but it’s not essential:
the better you write, the more we are reassured
by a colourful life well OK scandalous:
a rich and very varied sex life would be good:
a day with Paris, a week with Princess X
then three weeks with some anonymous scrubber
(no gender discrimination here by the way)
would play well. And if 50% of your liaisons
refused to talk (e.g. it was brief but profound)
we could read avidly and then hate the other 50% who told all..
but that doesn’t mean that a vigorous sex life
permits you to say all women are hoes or
call your very private wife ma bitch..

and drink to excess of course, mixing your drinks and company:
though remember, dying young is no longer
a career move in these times
of trivial pursuits and careless raptures;
as for drugs, OK if you must
in which case a ho-hum public attitude from you
indicating you don’t either approve or disapprove
(suggesting that the relationship between chemicals
and creativity is too subtle for the tabloid headlines)
would be better than some extreme stance.

So, Ruth, Derek, and that abstemious Hindu guy –
tell your idiot supporters that more scandal, not less
would well befit a poet who’s to stand for all of us
as Poet Laureate, Prof of Po, Director o fArts Council Poetry;
to assure us that Dionysius is still alive and well and living
somewhere beyond sin and writing great poetry.

*Come to think of it, a rumour that Ruth and Derek
once had a stormy relationship with mutual recriminations
could make this one run and run.
Now that’s what we expect of poets – a bit of phillarkin’ on the side..

The Undereducated

Just remember I don't come from the best
For what I write is but pure desire and dedication
An obsession in which I will learn my lesson
Being poor doesn't deny me the right
Today or tomorrow night
I draw you in because I write what I would want to read
Not just anything will satisfy
For I am picky only of those of true intellect
Attract my utmost intention
Think of me one who likes to read new inventions
Always original, and always a draw
I read and re read to perfect indeed
But I'm of the undereducated so I'm still flawed
Ten years of constant writing and no schooling has made me the next undereducated bread winner
A defender to those who criticize, by stereo type
But I care not
For I am what I am.
You want to judge, judge by the mistakes, in my grammar I make.
Teach me to appreciate the English language
Be my gauge, tell me what I can do better.
For I read all comments and letters.

Emphatically Expressed

A writer doesn't write to attract readers.
Maybe gossip columnists do.
To sell images and ruin a few.
But a writer who is true,
Writes because that is what writers do.

I wrote years before anything I wrote was read.
It wasn't to impress.
Those issues express about me,
Have long been put to rest in my head.
If something I write is read...
I hope a connection is made from what I've said.

Some also make claims they too like to write.
And I say to myself,
'Liking and loving are different appetites.'
No one who 'is' a writer takes it 'light'.
And those who feel this way...
May stay up night after night,
After many a sleepless night.

And it isn't for fame or money.
Trust me on that.
And I thank God what I do isn't done for the glory.
That's another story.
However,
When my contributions do become discovered...
It will be 'seen' there is some depthness meant.
Something within me that seems never to be solved.
Something with content I can not just dissolve.

And there is nothing to glorify,
When someone who writes for nourishment...
To feed others,
Do not think themselves to eat or drink.
Not when a thought comes to possess their minds,
With a desire to be completed.
Coming with a sensation one should heed.
And most of the time this is the writer's deed.

Whether the one who 'writes' gets a wink of sleep,
Or blinks.
And no matter if what is written is accepted,
Or thought to be rejected and stinks!
This kind of discipline...
Does not seek to reach for that attention!

Unless,
Money becomes mentioned.
And only then,
Of course...
What I have just emphatically expressed,
You have my permission to ignore.
Since my intention will take upon another direction,
To excite my need to explore...
With a more deepened Introspection.

I do write.
But biting into a good meal,
Intrigues!

Poetry

When you have
Nothing to do,
You write
Meaningless
Poetry…
That doesn’t mean
Anything to you,
That doesn’t mean
Anything to them.
But you still write…
Because if you write,
You’ll have something
To do!
