Popularity, I have always thought, may aptly be compared to a coquette - the more you woo her, the more apt is she to elude your embrace.

Reply To Some Verses Of J.M.B. Pigot, Esq. On The Cruelty Of His Mistress

Why, Pigot, complain of this damsel's disdain,
Why thus in despair do you fret?
For months you may try, yet, believe me, a sigh
Will never obtain a coquette.

Would you teach her to love? for a time seem to rove;
At first she may frown in a pet;
But leave her awhile, she shortly will smile,
And then you may kiss your coquette.

For such are the airs of these fanciful fairs,
They think all our homage a debt:
Yet a partial neglect soon takes an effect,
And humbles the proudest coquette.

Dissemble your pain, and lengthen your chain,
And seem her hauteur to regret;
If again you shall sigh, she no more will deny,
That yours is the rosy coquette.

If still, from false pride, your pangs she deride,
This whimsical virgin forget;
Some other adiaiire, who will melt with your fire,
And laugh at the little coquette.

For me I adore some twenty or more,
And love them most dearly but yet
Though my heart they enthral, I'd abandon them all,
Did they act like your blooming coquette.

No longer repine, adopt this design,
And break through her slight-woven net;
Away with despair, no longer forbear
To fly from the captious coquette.

Then quit her, my friend your bosom defend,
Ere quite with her snares you're beset;
Lest your deep-wounded heart, when incensed by the smart,
Should lead you to curse the coquette.

Coquette

(Green, Kahn, Lombardo)
Hear me, why you keep fooling, little coquette, making fun of the one who loves you?
Breaking hearts you are ruling, little coquette, true hearts tenderly dreaming of you.
Someday you'll fall in love as I fell in love with you.
Maybe the one you love will just be fooling too.
And when you are alone with all your regrets, you know, my little coquette, I love you.
Mm, someday you'll fall in love as I fell in love with you.
Now, maybe the one you love will just be fooling too.
And when you are alone with all your regrets, oo-oo,
now, you know, my little coquette, I love you.

A Popularity Had Is So Passé

A popularity had is so passé
Like a trasition from one fad to another,
That eventually goes away.

For some it is nice to be the one adored.
Until the reality of becoming a bore to ignore,
Hits one that faces a closing of a door.

A popularity had is so passé .
Here today...
And 'maybe' tomorrow.
But never coming for anyone,
To sit and visit with hints of it to stay.

Anything or anyone once given it,
Gives it up one day.
A popularity had is so passé.

Popularity and Truth

Do you honestly believe,
A truth is spoken to obtain one popularity?
Has grandma ever baked a cake you ate,
To exclaim it delicious...
But thought to hate it later,
Because the taste of it was that good?

And admitting to wanting another slice,
Was too embarrassing to say...
In the presence of others,
Who disliked grandma's directness.
And how that directness was displayed.

Popularity and truth,
Do not normally become a mixture...
One anticipates from a craving to satisfy.
These days people are afraid,
To approach a kitchen or know how hot,
An over can get to experience a staying away from it.

Popularity accompanied by truth,
Rarely gets any votes as a choice people prefer...
With thunderous applause and a cheering heard.

The man who loves a coquette

Why lost man
Your heart is sour with complain
Over this pretty damsel’s distain
Why thus let your despair
Yields hellish chest tare
For months you may fret
But this will not get you your coquette

Ah! How can you teach her to love
Frustration compel you to ask
As time runs out to spin and to rove
It is not easy and simple task
At first they all frown like a house pet
But leave her alone for a while
She shortly will show you her smile
And you may sit or stroll by your coquette

For such are the fickle airs
Of love and flirt mingling in fanciful fairs
In king’s palace or in a cave-man lair
They all think our homage is merely in debt
Fulfill it with projection
Without a touch of neglect
And as you show your strive for perfection
Soon takes the effect
And humbles down the proudest coquette

Dismantle your thick thought brain
Dissemble your pain
And lengthen your chain
Let her think she is using you
False or true
Let her self conviction be in taking advantage
It will all be to your vantage
And show her what a banter she may regret
If now you sigh
She can no longer deny
And you may caper in your coquette chamber

And still if out of false women pride
Your panting pangs she may deride
Be brave and full of thoughts and conceit
The trail is on; hold the raging thorns tight
Let not this untutored whimsical girl forget
That you have other admirers
Who would melt in your fire
That no one but you
Who can quench their burning desire
And thus laugh at you little coquette

Take an advice from me I adore
Some twenty or even more
And loved them most dearly but yet
Though my heart they captured in an enthrall
I will abandon them all
Did they act like your capricious coquette

Young loves’ woes no time now to think
If your love to your arms you want to bring
Idol thoughts will make you sink
With no solution or a link
No longer repine
Adopt this design
And break through her defiance fence
No longer despair
No longer anguish care
Now you may kiss your captious coquette

The elusion of words

The elusion of words
~
I wish to say
Those words which elude me
Those I sometimes forget to say
Or I find to frightening to speak
I may misuse those words
Allow them to betray my tongue
And live with that regret
~
I do not wish to cheapen them
In saying you are beautiful
That I love you deeply
I fear they may become clichés
That you discount them
As mere polite conversations
~
How may I express myself
To reveal the truth of my soul
Frightened by the idea of loss
That I may watch you slip away
That how happy you have made me
Is a way I’d almost forgotten
That I never thought I’d feel again
~
I may not be the wisest of men
I am humble enough to admit
That as much as I play with words
Those which still elude my tongue
Talk of this love I feel for you

A Kept Secret Ingredient

If some could subsidize a getting of popularity,
As if for them it was a need within them feeding...
Like so many believe obtaining it is.
To lift them to heights of sustained happiness.
Those who have achieved it are often surprised,
How and why anything they've done...
Makes them the popular one to be in spotlight.
Since they were not on a mission to get it.
Or is it with them visiting to prioritize...
Uncompromising,
As a reason for their purpose to live.
With a keeping of their popularity,
A kept secret ingredient to add to the recipe.

Popularity

How dose one measure
Popularity
Is it the stats that say?
You get hits everyday
Or the comments you read
About your poetry

How do they know?
Your popularity
How dose one fathom
What people think

I sit here and ponder
Can this be real?
I'm classed as a poet
My dream JUST became real

What Love Is

Boys tactics cannot be compared to what love is
Neither can the exchange of humans be compared to what love is

Love is when you go to the furthest extent there is for the one who is yours
Love is when you tell your spouse you love them with all your might everyday
Love is when you sacrifice yourself for anything he/she wants

Girls tactics cannot be compared to what love is
Neither can the exchange of humans be compared to what love is

Love is when you make mistakes but apologize over and over again until you get the words 'I'm sorry' engraved in their head
Love is when you are not afraid to wear the sweater that they made for you out in public
Love is when sacrifice your own time for them

Boys and girls tactics cannot be compared to what love is
Neither can the exchange of humans be compared to what love is

Love is when you know you are loved even before they tell you they love you
Love is when you know every single detail about them
Love is when you know they'll sacrifice their time and themselves even when times are rough and you don't know what to do

Until All Itching Has Been Scratched From It

Truth and popularity do not mix.
In some minds this is an unfit relationship.
And suitable it is to be distanced quick.

Truth and popularity do not mix.
People confronted run and do not sit.
And finding it difficult to be seen near it.

And these are the ones who become upset,
By living lives reflecting their own negligence.
Hiding in denial and deluded by embellishments.

And these are the people who today regret,
Spending their last dime...
To make impressions others forget.
Since impressions themselves,
Leave nothing concrete meant.

Truth and popularity do not mix.
In some minds this is an unfit relationship.
And suitable it is to be distanced quick.
Like that which irritates...
Until all itching has been scratched from it.

Confusion

Waiting for the unknown,
Struggling with my composure.
Why am I so anxious?
Why am I so restless?

What am I waiting for?
What is it that I look for?
When I'm lost deep in my thoughts,
Oblivious to the outside world.

Lost in myself,
I am idle.
On the surface I appear thoughtful
But inside, my thoughts churning in confusion.

I try to think,
But cannot.
Does happiness elude me?
Or do I elude happiness?

Overwhelmingly Magnetic

So busy they are today,
With their self importance.
Those feeding off of acquired popularity.
And believing themselves,
Overwhelmingly magnetic to others.
As they see themselves to be.

They can not see themselves,
From a superficial point of view.
They believe themselves to be the center of things.
Since some folks have them believing that is true.

A connection that has existed for some time to the world,
Appears to be comfortably attached...
Without an outward showing,
Of an entrapped affectation.
That connection to reality is obvious to those,
Who are aware of what reality means.

And for many this has been their lives as known.
A desire to have a popularity.
To be seen and showing what it is they do and 'own'.
And feeling alone and hollow,
If egos they displayed were not publicly overblown.
And fed wherever they are bled to produce,
Evidence of their significance to induce a following.

'Are you jealous? '

Of what?
I have been comfortable in my own skin,
'Most' of my life!
I am in no need to solicit popularity.
My radiance comes naturally.

'Oh.
How blind of me not to see it.'

Your Tender Touch

This vision hath blessed my every solitary dream;
A wraith? Perchance? No-yet, real it still did seem!

Why then? Its purpose did elude, until again, there was you-
Then, it all made sense-the why, the how, and surely, the cause, too!
Sikerly, it was God Himself, speaking with me as I'd somniate,
His purposeful pensum-for which, mine life, whole, I did await;

This duty, mine only, e'er, shan't be undertaken lightly,
Nor too, shall I doubt His omniscient perspicacity, rightly!
Proffered once, but for to glimpse that which awaited;
Now again offered-in its embrace, I have not hesitated-

For I have not but a choice, it is my heart's benediction-
It is my invitation to utter exult, my mundanity's valediction!
Ne'er before hath His grace tendered so very much-
The mere thought of the imminence of your tender touch!

Think noble, Talk noble and Get Nobel

Noble are those
Who have self evolved
Humane values
And who stand by what they value
Not necessarily nobility
Of a person is assessed
On what they own or acquired
On whether they have power and authority

Any way present day requirement is that
A person needs to be rich and powerful
For he or she to be declared noble

Nobility enhances with popularity
The more popularity the greater nobility
The cumulative effect of
Power and popularity is
Immensely reflected on
The hurry in which one gets into
Noble cadre

Thus a person with
Self evolved humane values
Popularity, fame and power
Assumes greater nobility
In the society

But note the fame one acquires
Through notoriety
Does not and will add to his
Nobility scale

The person may even create
Controversies without, of course,
Affecting the social harmony
And remain noble

What about acting on your noble ideas
It looks from one of the recent
Nobel awardees
That you need not act
On your ideas
Just keep talking about them
In all possible gatherings
But ensure that the crowd accepts
Whatever great things you have to say

To become a Nobel Laureate
You require to do only these
Think noble
Just talk noble
And get the Nobel
