The Paramount executives were so pleased with Sunset Boulevard that they asked me to do a publicity tour.

Dancin, Shaggin On The Boulevard
Written by randy owen, teddy gentry, and greg fowler
Well the magic attics where the music rolls
And the army-navys got ol jackie soul
Down on peaches corner there are good ol boys
And mother fletchers makin lots of noise
Theyre dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
Dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
Well the tams are playin at the port-o-call
And the drifters underneath the boardwalk
At the sapnish galleon and ol fat jacks
Jukebox playin and the place is packed
You bet theyre dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
You know theyre dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
Got the top down and the traffics slow
Sun fun week and, we all go
Where the girls are sunnin and lookin good
Well I never met em but I wish I could
And wed go dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
Wed go dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
Well the embers singin up on ocean drive
And the castaways are gettin loud tonight
At the electric circus they all getin down
And the carousels spinnin round and round
See them dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
I see em dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
Well Im hangin out down at sloppy joes
They may doze but they never close
And the bama boys at the bowery
They cant dance but they play for free
But they like dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
They know dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
They wrote dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
Dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
Dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
Shaggin on the boulevard
Dancin, shaggin on the boulevard
Dancin, shaggin on the boulevard

Publicity is the life of this culture - in so far as without publicity capitalism could not survive - and at the same time publicity is its dream.

This one, even though it called for San Francisco, I think they wanted to initially shoot part of the film up here, you know get the exteriors and then go back to L.A. We really fought to get it up here and I think Paramount was really pleased.

It helps when 1 can send the children off to their fathers so I can support my new book with a national publicity tour. I started writing the book when my daughter was 5. It took me almost four years.
What they did was to make a pilot and it may well go to series at the next festival but I don't have any news on that. It's already been on Paramount actually, but as it's on Paramount it'll probably be on several more times... hopefully.
The White Woman At Sunset Boulevard
she was the woman who left me.
She hands me the back of her bones.
she does not bother looking anymore at the past.
she hates me. she detests
every word that i say.
she will not answer my call.
She says i am a liar and had always been lying to her.
The dirt in my arms are terrible, she says, these arms
that used to hold her too tightly that she cannot breathe
are broken branches of the rotten tree.
She walks away towards the dark side of the sunset boulevard, that place unreachable by the night lights. Beyond the hold of my arms, beyond the grasp of my lips.
she already loosened all the screws and bolts of the bicycle
that we used to ride together every afternoon on this sunset boulevard.
all the parts are scattered near the shore of the sea.
The waves reached them and they all get too rusty.
She does not talk to me anymore, this white woman at sunset boulevard.
She walks fast.
She runs.
Her eyes sharp, and flaming with anger against the rage of the dark,
away from the city lights, away from my lies, away from the
warmth of my whisper.
I am her wrath.
I am the source and cause of her anger.
Her pains, her sorrows for years and years when i left her
without leaving any word.
When my name was finally eaten by the waves of the sea in
sunset boulevard. When she drowned.
she left rushing like a storm towards another island.
she destroys houses and
fell the trees.
She goes away just like that, as quickly as suddenly
as a gnashing teeth of the cyclone.
I whispered her name to calm her down.
She hurriedly left.
She did not see that tears too that fell to the sand. They are mine. Salty, fresh tears. Hidden inside my bags for years. Twenty-five years of solitude.
More than that for my loneliness on an unknown island where i was stranded beyond my power. There was not a single boat to take me to her.
She did not
look back. She would not believe me.
But she is right.
My tears are not as salty as the whole sea that she swallowed when she drowned on that very day when i left her.
I have not
given her the reason. I have them ready from the bottom of my heart.
She tells her friends:
She does not want to be duped again. One of me, is enough. She is gone.
I happened to her once in her lifetime. She, is likewise.

Every Friday I used to have about fifty, sixty kids who would wait for me on Sunset Boulevard and I'd take them all to dinner. All runaways.

I remember having to take detours around the Hollywood sign to avoid having to see this grotesque poster of myself on Sunset Boulevard.

As The Sunset
As the sunset I think to myself why.
As the sunset I sit down and cry.
Wondering why life got to be a lie.
As the sunset I dropp my head.
As the sunset I think about you instead.
How can I go home and get in my bed.
As the sunset I say no.
As the sunset I just don't know.
My love that I have for u just wont go.
As the sunset I look to the sky.
As the sunset I wait to die.
Tell me how to say good-bye.
As the sunset I say a prayer.
As the sunset how can I dare.
I'm giving up, I just don't care.
Sitting by the window watching the sun to set.
Knowing I'm going to see you again,
and you coming back home at the end.

a friend from Utah
she finally finds her way in Utah
watching the sunset there on a desert
she sent me a letter telling me that she never saw such a beautiful sunset
as that
in Utah but i was not really amazed with what she thinks she saw as beauty
because i still believe
that beauty still lies to the beholden
(i know you may think i am wrong, you think of the
beholder
a cliche of the almost forgotten)
but that is not really the point
that is,
a dog must know the hands of the person who feeds it
and wag its tail
to manifest gratitude and
admiration
what amazes me still is the last poem she sent me while i also watch
the most beautiful sunset at the Dipolog Boulevard
she says she has nothing to prove to herself
she burns everything
she is finally quitting and whatever that means i refuse to make any
conclusion
i still love it here because it is home and i too agree, i have nothing to prove
to myself
or anybody else, alien or otherwise

The End Of The Tour
Theres a girl with a crown and a scepter
Whos on wlsd
And she says that the scene isnt what its been
And shes thinking of going home
That its old and its totally over now
And its old and its over, its over now
And its over, its over, its over now
I can see myself
At the end of the tour
When the road disappears
If theres any more people around
When the tour runs aground
And if youre still around
Then well meet at the end of the tour
The engagements are booked through the end of the world
So well meet at the end of the tour
Never to part since the day we met
Out on interstate 91
I was bent metal you were a flaming wreck
When we kissed at the overpass
I was sailing along with the people
Driving themselves to distraction inside me
Then came a knock on the door which was odd
And the picture abruptly changed
At the end of the tour
When the road disappears
If theres any more people around
When the tour runs aground
And if youre still around
Then well meet at the end of the tour
The engagements are booked through the end of the world
So well meet at the end of the tour
This was the vehicle these were the people
You opened the door and expelled all the people
This was the vehicle these were the people
You opened the door and expelled all the people
This was the vehicle these were the people
You let them go
At the end of the tour
When the road disappears
If theres any more people around
When the tour runs aground
And if youre still around
Then well meet at the end of the tour
The engagements are booked through the end of the world
So well meet at the end of the tour
And were never gonna tour again
No, were never gonna tour again

On The Boulevard Maria Luiza
On the boulevard maria Luiza,
such people can not remember the way home
miss rocked
on a lasting footprints in the snow
Who are you waiting for?
on the boulevard maria Luiza
soon, mercury begin to glow
ordain love a pair of teenagers
rusty hunting season
in the glasses of alcohol and cheese
do you still endure for standing there?
on the boulevard maria Luiza
afternoon reincarnate without stories
no one
no admonished said
