Chicago Stepper

I’m keeping it smooth, stepping so tight,
a Chicago Stepper’s in the house tonight.

It’s the end of the day, I’ve been patiently waiting.
Now I’m headed home to shower and change.
Looking at the guys in their fly gear, checking out
themselves in the mirror. I see you ladies in your
high stepping heels and you’re looking as good as you feel.

I don’t have to wait until Friday to find what I seek,
In Chi-town there’s a steppers set every day of the week.

I’m haunting the clubs looking for the crowd
to hit the floor, stepping proud.
All the heavy hitters out to shine,
if you want to step with them you gotta get in line.

I don’t even play and I can’t rest
as I’m taking notes from the best of the best.
I feel the beat of the music as I stay on count,

One Gear

It is easy for some to move in one gear.
To play it safe and cosmetic.
For purposes not to stir up dust.
Or attract attention...
To early forms of deception.
While enhancing a well maneuvered advancement.
To smolder and smooze,
With an unknown hoodwinking set to entrance.

The slicker and sly the plot...
The better.
Creative theft is not original.
Theft is theft!

But those who move in this low gear,
Can not produce and deceive at the same time.
The quality and lustre of their lies,
Leaves nothing creative about their input!

They are in one gear.
And it takes a while to notice it.
However...
Those who have?
Have been quickly dismissed.
And slandered to keep them from profit.
They were of genuine deeds,
That could not be plagiarized by those shallow!

So those who remain shallow...
Remain shallow.
And it shows that is all they know.
Moving slow in one gear.
To prove...?
To prove something insignificant,
To someone who was foolish enough to pay the price....
To observe the redundancy,
In its stagnant commitment achieved.

Giving people what they accept.
Not what they want or can get...
In this,

In Another’s Shoes

As a writer I sometimes
have to step in another’s shoes.
Feel all the emotions the way they would do.
Feel the love that makes them happy,
the sadness that gives them pain,
and sometimes stepping out,
of their shoes is not an easy thing to do.
Sometimes for a while,
their emotions become yours.
You cry at the sad things,
laugh at things that aren’t that funny,
and get a lump in your throat,
at watching someone else’s joy.
You do it because of what you write,
you want people to believe.
Sometimes they do believe,
and think what you are writing,
is actually happening to you.

I wanted to go back to Sun. Unfortunately, most of the gear is gone from Sun. The way I take it now, it's almost like a tourist destination. So, it would have been pretty difficult to have brought all the gear into Sun to make it like it was in the '50's.
