Our father died when we were very young, so our mother raised six kids. We saw the world filtered through her eyes, being a minority woman raising six kids.

You Better Sit Down Kids

Better sit down kids
Ill tell you why, kids
You might not understand, kids
But give it a try, kids
Now how should I put this
Ive got something to say
You mother is staying
But Im going away
No, were not mad, kids
Its hard to say why
Your mother and i
Dont see eye to eye
Say your prayers before you go to bed
Make sure you get yourself to school on
Time
I know youll do the things your mother
Asks
Shes gonna need you most to stay in
Line
Keep in mind your mothers gonna need
Your help a whole lot more than she
Ever did before
No more fights over little things
Because
I wont be here to stop them anymore
I know you dont want this, neither do
We
But sometimes things happen
That we cant foresee
Now try to be calm, kids
And dont look so sad
Just cause I am leaving
Ill still be your dad
Just remember I love you
And though Im not here
Just call if you need me
And Ill always be near
(repeat chorus)
Well, I have to go now
So kiss me goodbye
My eyes are just red, kids
Im too big to cry

Growing up #2

I never talk much about my Dad
Because, when I do I get very sad
I can't give my dad much credit
Dad didn't raise us, mom did it

Oh please don't get me wrong
I loved him, he used to sing songs
But dad could be mean with his words
I know, because I always heard

I heard him talk to mom, like she was a dog
And when he wanted his kids, it was to kill a hog
He would take us to his mothers
And they would sit and talk about others

They talked mean about mom and her kids
Like he didn't help bring us into this world, but he did
Don't get me wrong, I loved him, because he was my dad
But he always put his mother in front of my mom, and that was sad

Dad took us to his mothers one day
And we were sent out to play
While my dad set at her table and ate banana pudding
kids wasn't allowed to eat, mom got mad, because her kids couldn't

So mom came out and set with her kids
When dad got done, the fight was on, and she did
It was months before mom would go back over there
Heck it was months, before we went any where

The eight kids that mom and dad had
It was all left up to my mom, and that is so sad
If I had A gold award, I would ask my mom to stand up
Because dad didn't help us grow up

This gold statue, Is awarded to my mom
For raising five girls and three sons

Single Moms

the greatest heroes
in America today...
are the single moms,
out there, fighting and
scraping, working and
believing...
against all odds,
in spite of...
raising their kids,
loving their kids,
living for their kids!

Most High

( Jerzzee Monet Talking )
Yo
people dont know
What the world means to me
Things change and rearrange
Friends aren't friends anymore
People go behind your backs takes all
on anything
Will we ever have peace
someone tell me please

( Verse 1 )
Wanna know what I see on the block
Kids playin hearin' gun shots
Never phased by the crime that they witness
Follow me and come and see how we got this way
Young mama right there
Dont be cursin at your kids right there
Put the right foundation right here
So they can be

( Chorus 2x )
Most high
most high

Like an angel in the sky

( Verse 2 )
Yo father why you act that way
Call your good woman out her name
Bringin kids in the world unplanned
You dont know that dont make you a man
at all
Young father out there
Dont abandon your seeds out there
Lets get one thing clear
Families should be ...

( Chorus 2x )

( Hook )
It doesn't matter where you are
You're still a shi-e-i-e-ining star
It doesnt matter where you're from
Let's give love to everyone

Hustlers put down your guns
Self respect is the best wea-pon
Spread love
show your real values
Set a true example and starting with you
See them kids right there
Dont be shootin round them kids right there
Gotta show them there's hope out here
( Treat yourself you can be most high )

Life Comes Crashin

'Times are tough.'
said the mother.
'I've had enough.'
said the dad.
And one by one the kids all knew
that what they had known
all was through.
Sadness came and eyes were filled
with the saltiness of tears.
The mother cried. The dad just sighed
and the kids were filled with fears.

How could this happen in the USA,
the freeest country in the world today? ? ?

Blood relation is a myth

Mother died young; who will bring me up?
Tears flowed..
Mother died old; a great relief so soon.
No tears.
Sister died young; who will bring her kids up?
Pity flowed.
Sister died away, having eloped with a man.
No pity.
Blood relation must be burdensome.

Kids

Kids - kids, Christmas i-is for kids
Look around and you will see
Kids from one to ninety-three
Laughin', lovin' life and bein' kids
Kids - ki-i-i-ids, Christmas i-is for kids
Kids like you and little brother
Aunts and uncles, dads and mothers
Grandma, grandpa an' all the other kids
Daddy runs the 'lectric train
While all the children wait in vain
To take their turn
At playin' engineer
Grandpa catches grandma's cheek
And all the family sneaks a peak
And suddenly
Their wrinkles disappear
Take a look at Betty Joe
Underneath the mistletoe
Pretending that
She doesn't know it's there
And in the front yard Uncle Mike
Just fell off brother's brand new bike
There's Christmas cheer
And laughter everywhere
Kids (kids) - ki-i-i-ids (kids)
Christmas i-is for kids
Christmas time is here again
And now it's when the fun begins
This time of year we all turn into kids...

Poor Poor Kids

Be quiet! Don't make a sound!
Speak when you're spoken to!
What awful fearful bounds
Speaking only on cue

Poor poor kids

You can't go out and play today!
It's punishment, unfitting the crime
This parental power display
For kids, like serving hard-time

Poor poor kids

Adults wield such power
They must be listened to
They can their poor kids cower
As they dim their kids world view

Power seeds have been sown
Hopefully they'll not sprout
So when kids are fully grown
Their kids will not self doubt

The pain behind the smile

I often saw her at the shops with her kids
she was friendly and would say hello,
then I heard some really tragic news
she'd jumped from a high building onto the floor below.
So I went and saw all the masses of flowers
at the place this poor woman had been found,
adults were standing with small children sobbing
while others were reading tributes not making a sound.
Then later on I saw her smiling picture in the paper
I never knew her but I still felt very sad,
it said she was a loving mother to her children
and it was her kids who made her happy and glad.
So why did she go and jump to her death?
what was she hiding behind her beautiful smile?
this poor young woman must have been full of agony
and putting on a brave act all the while.
Three lovely young children have now lost their Mum
but I hope their Mother is now in a much better place,
it just shows what some people are concealing though
behind that forced smile that appears on their face.

No More Living Dead, Zombie Kids

What do you think you are doing
to these kids?
Please stop destroying these kids' minds!
Are you that cold-hearted?
Don't you care?
Maybe you don't. But I do.
Don't you remember back when
you had feelings
for your wife, girlfriend,
husband, boyfriend,
mother, father,
grandma, grandpa,
or brother or sister, or friend?
So please let these kids
live a normal life
instead of being the living dead zombies.
Let the boys be boys
Let the girls be girls.
Let them show feelings,
show emotions, show love.
I want to hear their laughter,
hear them chatter kids talk.
I want to see them play,
run, learn, just having fun.
Let these kids live and grow
a normal life.
They could be the future mother,
future father,
future husband, wife,
future author, writer or a poet,
future president,
future owner of a company,
future farmer, future teacher, etc....
But they can't
if you keep on feeding them
with these killer drugs.
Please for once listen to somebody
even me.
You know who I'm talking to...
it's you the one who sells
and manufactures
cocaine, crank, LSD, marijuana,
acid, etc....
Maybe it's too late for you
to live a normal life
But don't let it
be too late for the kids
if you really care.
Please no more living dead,
zombie kids.

Living In A Van

living in a van....
father, and children,
mother dead...

jobless, homeless....
bathing in service stations,
trying to keep the kids

in school....
asked the little girl
what she wanted most of all....

'to help underprivileged kids! '
dammit... wake up!

No Time For Games

The raising of children, the rearing of young
Used to be simple but look what its become
The choice of career, the proper vocation
Out of your hands, all for the needs of the nation
No inhibitions with the modern child
Wasted lessons or pleasure or pain
Easy to follow your natural instinct
Easy to follow, much too hard to learn
Useless expressions and sporting aggression
Dont waste my time, I cant wait for the end of the session
What opportunity, the modern child?
Waste passion and wasted mind
Some kids got no time for playtime
Some kids got no time for games
Some kids got no time for playtime
Some kids got no time for games

Protection

The things you're doing are
Illegal in your own country
So you travel around the world
Looking for your heaven
Little girls are waiting there
Forced to be abused
By you

Refrein:
It was their mother
She made them scream
Even though they were
All she had then
But she needed the money
If she wanted to survive
She had to be selfish
Gave her kids away
Gave her kids away

And as she's sitting there
She's playing with her girlfriends
She is playing with her dolls
Tries to catch a butterfly
But when the monster comes in
She has to put up make-up
Again

Refrein:
It was their mother
She made them scream
Even though they were
All she had then
But she needed the money
If she wanted to survive
She had to be selfish
Gave her kids away
Gave her kids away

And as you're lying there
The sheets you lie on
Are all full of blood
The cross you pray on
But where's your god
There was no protection no
There was no protection no
There was no protection no
Nooo

Refrein:
It was their mother
She made them scream
Even though they were
All she had then
But she needed the money
If she wanted to survive
She had to be selfish
Gave her kids away
Gave her kids away

At the Sidewalk...

the mother was peeling
raw, green mangoes

selling them to kids in the
nearby elementary school

her son plays alone near
the bakery

there are no other kids
there anyway

lots of people walking to
and from like pendulums

the mother was so busy
attending to her small livelihood

the little boy falls off the sidewalk
hits her forehead on the pavement

the mother did not notice because
the street is noisy

at first the boy cried then stood up
and rearranges everything

he appears to his mother and
attaches his body on her side

the mother kisses his forehead
as though nothing happens

there must be a story behind this
why the boy has no father

why the mother takes charge of
having to sell mangoes to earn

she takes shelter under a big umbrella
beside a vending bicycle...
