When I left, I had learnt nothing. I took nothing with me. At least, that's what I thought then.

You would go far
You would go far
Far, far
More far than we can imagine
Far, far
More far than we have been
I thought that we have learnt a lot
about separated
and saying goodbye is like litany of farewell
but no! I’m not used to
I can’t be used with being alone
I can’t stand with loneliness
You would go far
Far, far
More far than I could reach
Far, far
More far than I could bear
I thought that my heart’s tougher
Than yesterday
And I’ll say goodbye with smile
But no! my heart screams
Shrinking in lake of fear
Drowning in the pool of tear
You would go far
Far, far
More far though I don’t want to be left behind
Far, far
More far and I couldn’t go on
I thought that we have passed
a lot time together
and I could say enough
but no! it will never be
I taken it too much but
I just want to be with you right now

I Have Learned
I’ve learnt to understand that….
A prohibitive degree of inner freedom –
Not a caprice but a strain.
Up to the end it will remain!
I’ve learnt to understand that….
The tales we dream up
We write out of our own head.
And…. we should cherish that!
I’ve learnt to break up the rules,
So that no one should be hurt.
Using my own tools,
I would like to avoid the dirt.
I’ve learnt to believe that….
There are no ideal relations.
They can be sometimes a brief,
Very often with a frustration.
I’ve learnt to feel that….
Striving for harmony I love disharmony.
Loving in everything the truth
The lies sometimes sooth.
I’ve learnt to be patient,
Though not everyone knows it.
It’s better to be absent
Than to throw a stone into a shit.
I've learnt not to be afraid of any competition,
There is only right or wrong choice,
There is only someone's ambition,
There is only strong or weak voice.
I've learnt to understand that....
Love can't be found where it doesn't live,
If love exists it can't be hidden.
A true love can't be forbidden.
I’ve learnt to understand that….
Love can't be found where it doesn't exist,
Love can't be hidden where it is.
A true love you can persist.

The Hard Way
If I could do it all again
I wouldn't change a thing
I'd have you back the way I had you then
But one thing that I know
This time I wouldn't make you go
I'd have you back I wouldn't lose you again
But I learnt the hard way
I can't have it back what I had then
Yes I learnt the hard way
and I know I won't have that chance again
Some nights I sit on my own
with a feeling of alone
wondering if your ever coming home
but I know why your gone
I'll be the first to say I'm wrong
but it's hard to spend another night alone
Cause I learnt the hard way
I can't have it back what I had then
Yes I learnt the hard way
And I know I won't have that chance again
Yes I learnt the hard way
I can't have it back what I had then
Yes I learnt the hard way
And I know I won't have that chance again
Cause I learnt the hard way

Political: Freedom Before Responsibility
I cry for Africa,
Afrique du Sud where
we won freedom before
accepting
accountability.
We abuse liberty,
infringe rights, make
the line between “yours”
and “mine” opaque and
ignore the notion of
reciprocal duty; we don’t
know what it means to do
unto others as we would have
them do unto us, except where
we give in token what we
expect to receive in kind
Europe plundered Africa under
God, left Christianity chained
in an era’s exploitation blessed
by autocracy; when tamed by
Renaissance Europe left Africa
behind - the next step was freedom;
but we never learnt how to respect
freedom’s household duties;
We tasted liberty’s heady glory
taking charge of ourselves with
no ethical wares except a God of
Vengeance, never learnt what mutual
obligation meant – never learnt why
it would become us; today we know:
We have a right to our own life
And why should we respect ALL life?
Our forebears never did. We have right
to freedom of thought, conscience and
religion – never were taught to respect
all differences as sacred and worthy;
just as our masters exploited, maimed
and killed us, so do we. The rainbow
nation is killing one another, rule is
survival, ANC won its struggle through
violence – now it seems violence rules
by right again in my beloved Africa…

A Mate can do no Wrong
We learnt the creed at Hungerford,
We learnt the creed at Bourke;
We learnt it in the good times
And learnt it out of work.
We learnt it by the harbour-side
And on the billabong:
'No matter what a mate may do,
A mate can do no wrong!'
He’s like a king in this respect
(No matter what they do),
And, king-like, shares in storm and shine
The Throne of Life with you.
We learnt it when we were in gaol
And put it in a song:
' No matter what a mate may do,
A mate can do no wrong!'
They’ll say he said a bitter word
When he’s away or dead.
We’re loyal to his memory,
No matter what he said.
And we should never hesitate,
But strike out good and strong,
And jolt the slanderer on the jaw –
A mate can do no wrong !

Manifesto
Blues are falling like showers of rain, but I dont feel like crying
Death himself is abroad this day, but I dont feel like dying
I learnt how to sustain myself
I learnt how to sustain myself in storms
The enemy has the biggest tanks, and he sure knows how to use them
Our best, and only, chance, is to thoroughly confuse him
I learnt how to sustain myself in storms
Her tongue was like a scythe and all her bones were haunted
A scapegoat for her life was all she ever wanted
I learnt how to sustain myself in storms
Sir bedivere slept in a field, his armour strewn around him
Curled foetus-like beneath his shield, still weeping when we found him
I learnt how to sustain myself in storms
I teetered on the edge of doom, degenerate and broken
She washed the blood out of my wounds, and spoke the great unspoken
I learnt how to sustain myself in storms
His monstrous ego whipped and driven raged beneath his clothing
The complement he paid was given not with grace but loathing
I learnt how to sustain myself in storms
Deliverance is at the gate with arms and gold in store
He apologises for being late, but I dont need him anymore
I learnt how to sustain myself
I learnt how to sustain myself in storms
Scoured and stripped of all pretence, shorn of all illusion
I offer nothing in my defence, you can draw your own conclusions
I learnt how to sustain myself in storms

Twice Times
There were Two Little Bears who lived in a Wood,
And one of them was Bad and the other was Good.
Good Bear learnt his Twice Times One -
But Bad Bear left all his buttons undone.
They lived in a Tree when the weather was hot,
And one of them was Good, and the other was Not.
Good Bear learnt his Twice Times Two -
But Bad Bear's thingummies were worn right through.
They lived in a Cave when the weather was cold,
And they Did, and they Didn't Do, what they were told.
Good Bear learnt his Twice Times Three -
But Bad Bear never had his hand-ker-chee.
They lived in the Wood with a Kind Old Aunt,
And one said 'Yes'm,' and the other said 'Shan't!'
Good Bear learnt his Twice Times Four -
But Bad Bear's knicketies were terrible tore.
And then quite suddenly (just like Us)
One got Better and the other got Wuss.
Good Bear muddled his Twice Times Three -
But Bad Bear coughed in his hand-ker-chee!
Good Bear muddled his Twice Times Two -
But Bad Bear's thingummies looked like new.
Good Bear muddled his Twice Times One -
But Bad Bear never left his buttons undone.
There may be a Moral, though some say not;
I think there's a moral, though I don't know what.
But if one gets better, as the other gets wuss,
These Two Little Bears are just like Us.
For Christopher remembers up to Twice Times Ten ...
But I keep forgetting where I put my pen.*
* So I have had to write this one in pencil.

Me and My Guardian Angel
I don't know where he's flown off to,
Moonlighting I suspect,
My part-time hero simply flew
And left me to reflect...
So here I stand complaining
And moaning to myself,
While he's off, I'm remaining...
He's left me on the shelf!
He likes to stay anonymous,
I've never learnt his name,
'Cos if I knew I'd cause a fuss
And firmly point the blame!
I've got my list of accidents
That he seemed to ignore,
No wonder that I take offence
At every single flaw!
I thought that he was on my side,
'Cos sometimes he came through,
But now my eyes are open wide,
He hasn't got a clue!
It's hit-and-miss from first-to-last,
My records act as proof!
He'll have to go! I'm quite aghast!
And that's the honest truth!

Teach me
Spaces and spaces
All around
All so quiet, so much silent
And a little solitary heart,
A great container
Full of emptiness
Thats just what I've got!
Life, I think, is turning
Its tracks
Carrying me to
My dreams, my success
Letting all dear hands
To slip from mine.
And I'm left perplexed
Moving on and on
Wondering,
What the next turn will bring.
But I'm no more weak
No tears left
I've learnt to
Procrastinate, to lie,
To fool the world.
No feelings left, no desires grow
Still one thing left to know
Teach me someone!
How to lie to myself?

Keep Ascending the Tower of Knowledge
Most of us are learned
We learnt a number of things
Some of us even added
To the knowledge base
Of the discipline we belong to
Why, a few of us
Made the learned others
Wonder at the discoveries of
New philosophies
And at the inventions
That enhanced the standard of living
Of the common man
The person who keeps
Moving up the tower of knowledge
Sees far beyond
And has a vision of
Those subjects still to be
Explored by him or her
While the less learned
Is at the lower strata of this tower
And is yet to know
That there is lot many
To be known and learnt
An expert is one,
Who knows exactly
What he does not know
And this expertise comes
By being on the path of learning
Always and every where
Looking for something to be learnt
From each event, subject and situation
To know how much
You do not know
Keep ascending the tower of knowledge

You Left Me In The Dark
See how the elements obey?
Eyes are blue
Skies are grey
Nothing I do can make you stay
I'm glad it will rain today
You left me standing alone
Although I thought that we could not be parted
But if I'd only known
That this would be the last loving remark
You left me in the dark
Then I awoke to my dismay
I thought we'd make it all the way
Allowing myself one more clich
The last hurrah, the first bouquet
You left me standing alone although
I thought that we could not be parted
But if I'd only known
That this would be the last loving remark
You left me in the dark

I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone (feat. James Dean Bradfield)
Well, you're right, I'm left, she's gone.
You're right, and I'm left all alone.
Well, you tried to tell me so,
But how was I to know
That she was not the one for me?
You told me all along,
You're right, our love was so wrong.
But now I changed my mind,
Because she broke the ties that bind,
And I know that she never cared for me.
Well, I thought I knew just what she'd do,
I guess I'm not so smart.
Oh, you tried to tell me along she'd only break my heart.
I'm left, you're right, she's gone.
You're right, and I'm left all alone.
Well, she's gone I know not where,
But now I just don't care.
For now I'm falling for you.
If you'll forgive me now,
I'll make it up somehow.
So happy we will be,
In a home just for three,
And I'll soon forget her,
Now I know.
Well, I thought I knew just what she'd do,
I guess I'm not so smart.
You tried to tell me all along,
She'd only break my heart.
Well, you're right, I'm left, she's gone.
You're right, and I'm left all alone.
Well, she's gone, I know not where,
But now I just don't care,
For now I've fallen for you

Love Doesnt Live Here
I wake up each day
Want to sleep that day away
I catch a train
In the rush hour rain
Some people are talkin to me
I dont care what they say
cos I know
Love doesnt live here now youve gone away
Love doesnt live here but Im left to stay
And I thought it was me and you who gave it all
Yes I thought it was me and you who couldnt fall
But its all over now
Over now
Friends on the phone
Life is good. life goes on
But I spend my days
In a heart broken haze
Of movies and lonely tunes
Every song seems to be about you
Oh oh
Love doesnt live here since you went away
Love doesnt live here but I m left to stay
And I thought you and me we were the chosen ones
Yes I thought you and me we sailed into the sun
But its gone. its over now
Do you ever think about it?
Do you want to talk about it with me?
Love doesnt live here since you went away
Love doesnt live here but I m left to stay
And I thought it was me and you who had it all
Yes I thought it was me and you who stood so tall
But its all over now
Yes its all over now
Over now
Its all over now
Love doesnt live here

Her Hair a Crimson Kingdom
Who knows of what will come?
If any sun shall shine on tomorrows horizon.
Here I am upon the border of worlds and I am wavering
Tears fill the eyes that once looked upon the skies in wonder.
Death has left me pale, a sickly shade and fading.
The moments in her arms were an eternity in waiting.
Her hair a crimson kingdom
Her breast a pillow sweet
Her eyes a world of wisdom
My alter at her feet
Now
She has closed the gates to her domain,
Left me an exiled vagabond, dismissed from paradise.
The aroma of morning spring
Is nothing to that of the scented dreams she gave me
As she lay nestled in my arms.
We were as serpents smothering.
I have learnt that the heart is my own
My heart – my home
You may share my heart
Just as I may care for yours
The heart is a window
The heart is a door
The heart is a kingdom pulsating
It’s voice the whisper of truth
I have learnt that in offering your all
It’s voice a wisdom to sooth.
Share your love with me sometime
But know this heart is mine
In life – in death – this heart is mine
And still I would have it as yours.

I thought
I thought I saw his face to day.
In the wake of the sun.
And then I heard the Lord say.
His work here is done.
I thought I heardhis voice today.
And luagh your joyfull luagh.
Then I heard the Lord say.
There is peace dear one at last.
I though I felt your touch in the breeze that rustled by.
And then I heard the lord say.
The spirit never dies.
I thought I saw my broken hart.
In the cresent of the moon.
And then I heard the lord say.
I am coming soon.
I thought that you had left me
for the stars above.
And then I heard the lord say.
He has left you with his love.
I thought that I would miss you so.
And never find my way.
Then I heard the lord say.
He is with you every day

Nourishing My Mind
I've learnt what's required, and now I'm bored:
My mind feels the need to learn something more.
To learn new things, my heart is now yearning;
I need to keep my mind's cogwheels turning.
The information I've learnt, I need to revise;
To move on and forget it, wouldn't be wise.
For learning, I've suddenly discovered a taste;
What I've learnt so far, will not go to waste.
In learning, as a child, I possessed less interest,
But now, I'm a lot older, I am trying my best.
As an adult, I'm finding I really love to learn:
The flame, within my soul, has started to burn.
What I've learnt so far, just doesn't seem enough;
I feel ready to learn a whole lot more new stuff.
Nourishment for my mind, is what I'm needing,
So, now each and every day, more I am reading.
I need more information to help me fill the hole;
I need more information, to help achieve my goal.
With studying, I have become somewhat obsessed,
But I need to be prepared, so as I can pass the test.
I hope that all this new knowledge that I require,
Will give me the confidence to rise a little higher.
To broaden my mind, I suddenly feel really keen;
Maybe, one day, I will achieve all of my dreams.

A Calamitous Situation
The calamity strikes us when the soldier is present,
He appears to be in front of our soul.
A fool is about, with the pressure of discontent,
His possessions maw us with skill and hunger.
Death backs away, dead men do not speak,
My wisdom bellows and beams on him,
The soldier has learnt to escape.
Inside he learnt to beg for life among us,
International help is not for us at all.
