The British regulatory system was revised, so that bigger profits were encouraged, which removed the option of big spending on programming. Quality just fell off a cliff, and all the old hands either left or were fired for being too expensive.

Battle Of New Orleans
In 1814 we took a little trip,
Along with colonel jackson down the mighty mississip.
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans,
And we fought the bloody british in the town of new orleans.
We fired our guns and the british kept a comin,
There wasnt bout as many as there was awhile ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin
On down the mississippi to the gulf of mexico.
Oh we looked down the river and we seen the british come.
There must have been a hundred of em beatin on a drum.
They stepped so high and they made their bugles ring.
We stood behind our cotton bales and didnt say a thing.
Old hickory said we could take em by surprise,
If we didn¹t fire our muskets till we looked em in the eyes.
We held our fire till we seen their faces well,
Then we opened up our squirrel guns and gave em a little...well....we...
....fired our guns and the british kept a comin,
There wasnt bout as many as there was awhile ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin
On down the mississippi to the gulf of mexico.
We fired our cannons till the barrels melted down,
Then we grabbed an alligator and we fired another round.
We filled his head with cannonballs and powdered his behind,
And when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind.
We fired our guns and the british kept a comin,
There wasnt bout as many as there was awhile ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin
On down the mississippi to the gulf of mexico.
We fired our guns and the british kept a comin,
There wasnt bout as many as there was awhile ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin
On down the mississippi to the gulf of mexico.

To devise an information processing system capable of getting along on its own - it must handle its own problems of programming, bookkeeping, communication and coordination with its users. It must appear to its users as a single, integrated personality.

Canada evolved within the British Empire: it inherited the Parliamentary system, the Cabinet system and all the other features of the British constitutional system which had been in place, for the most part, for several centuries before Canada was even thought of.

All Fired Up
A burst of speed is all I need
To set me free
A flagging start that stirs the heart
To ecstasy
Raging away I'll go far
Time waits for no man
So reach for the stars
I'm all fired up
A bolt of light that sears the night
Of things supreme
To chase the sun, forever on
And live the dream
Forcing a system aside
Too fast for this life
My mind's open wide
I'm fired up
All fired up
Fired Up
All fired up
I'm soaring, freefalling
With all emotions roaring
Like lighting, like thunder
I'll rip the world asunder
Let's go
Hold on
[Lead Break]
I'm soaring, freefalling
With all emotions roaring
Like lighting, like thunder
I'll rip the world asunder
Raging away I'll go far
Time waits for no man
So reach for the stars
I'm fired up
All fired up
Fired up
All fired up
Fired up

Migrain
There's a pain in my head and I can't reject
every time I try to think I can't remember anything
It's getting bigger and bigger should I squeeze the trigger
make the pain just fade away drop another pill and stay
no pain no gain migraine
no pain no gain migraine
I met the messenger there's no message for me
looked through all the magazines but I can't find anything
pain is getting bigger I can't pull the trigger
there's only one option left
now this pain it's in my chest
no pain no gain migraine

Discredited a Lament
Alas and alack now life is hard.
They cancelled out my credit card
I used to live in luxury
now I’m condemned to poverty
My firm downsized and let me go.
Which put an end to my cash flow
My bank foreclosed; I could not pay
therefore they took my house way
My wife divorced me and she left.
I’m single homeless and bereft.
I face a life of misery.
Nobody wants to hire me.
I’m not too old to start again
given the opportunity
but I must make do until then
on other peoples charity.
The fat cat bankers are to blame.
Lending without security
Increasing profits was their aim
That’s why they acted recklessly.
The system failed, it had to come.
/o many could or would not pay.
Vast profits had been made by some
but now hard times are here to stay.
The fat cats will escape Scott free
The government will bail them out
condoning their dishonesty
The fat cats will not go without.
To me it is a travesty
which really makes me furious
It seems there is apparently
one law for them one law for us
Though none of us can claim to be
in every way quite innocent
We could get credit easily
because of this we overspent.
Could not have done, had they not lent
with disregard for fiscal rules.
Its hard to say in the event
between us who were bigger fools.
The lenders or the borrowers
I think the lenders deserve blame
They tempted us with their offers
and changed the rules to suit their game.
It is the small man always pays.
The present system is corrupt
I think its time to change our ways
Declare the fat cats all bankrupt.
Root out and fine the guilty men
why should they always get away?
To milk the system once again
by acting in the same old way.
I think its time to call a halt
and re-establish old values.
The rotten system is at fault
I think most folk will share my views.
I’ve said my piece so I will go
back to the street to beg my bread.
It is and always has been so
I gather from the books I’ve read.

America Cries
America cries.
Her economy dies.
Killed by people you can't trust.
America cries as we bite the dust.
America cries. Now come the whys.
No one could see it?
You've got to be kidding.
America cries as the Neros were fiddling.
The capitalist system is so out of hand.
The capitalists have taken over our land.
What's left for us?
Not much you see
except more taxes for you and for me.
Lending and spending, spending and lending,
the crying and weeping will be never-ending.
America cries and says its goodbyes
to times of financial prosperity.
The financial sting that's played like a game
stock market crashes?
foreclosures to blame?
No. America you played into the hands.
They've dumbed us down so no one understands.
America cries. Where were the wise?
They left long ago and will not return.
America cries for she refuses to learn.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

From where I am sitting much of the country now sees the President the way I have seen him since the campaign. He is an ambitious leftist, with little understanding of economics, and with far-reaching goals to create significant and irreversible growth of government and redistribution of wealth through dramatic changes in tax, regulatory, and spending policies.

We have come through a strange cycle in programming, starting with the creation of programming itself as a human activity. Executives with the tiniest smattering of knowledge assume that anyone can write a program, and only now are programmers beginning to win their battle for recognition as true professionals. Not just anyone, with any background, or any training, can do a fine job of programming. Programmers know this, but then why is it that they think that anyone picked off the street can do documentation? One has only to spend an hour looking at papers written by graduate students to realize the extent to which the ability to communicate is not universally held. And so, when we speak about computer program documentation, we are not speaking about the psychology of computer programming at all - except insofar as programmers have the illusion that anyone can do a good job of documentation, provided he is not smart enough to be a programmer.

Pointless Reappearance
You're not going to 'hit' this and leave!
To splurge your whims and urges.
Without your 'fixes'...
I have been encouraged!
Those days have gone with the grief...
I need not revisit,
To satisfy a passing temptation,
You wish to release.
I have not missed that unhappiness,
Or will I give what 'was'...
Another chance to regret,
In suspicions planted to tease.
Those sleepless nights
Have long gone from here.
And so has your hold on me!
No pointless reappearance,
Can forgive the tears...
That fell for years
From my cleared eyes!
I've risen from the depths,
Of a promised love I have not yet seen.
You said would come when you came.
But you left just rain...
To pour and pour,
To soak and demean!
And I do not contemplate another draught!
I am with sunlight that brightens my life.
And I cherish that without you on the scene!
Consider your affect on me,
As being blotted out!
Removed from shoulders I carried about.
