Harlem [Dream Deferred]
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

A Thrill Of Hope
you love and fail
and you want to die
the heart that loves and fails
shirks and shrinks like a drying grape to the desert sun
raisin, look at you, you have become a raisin
wrinkled fruit,
shrinked to the size minimal to the existence
desired, you dry some more, taking away all the life
possible in your skin and bone
the desert sun is cruellest
in you
so unforgiving so determined to shrink you
more than a raisin
this cruelty can turn you into a stone
the night has come
this thrill of hope comes like a comforting friend
to tell you raisin,
keep the sweetness still
for tomorrow's bitterest spill
the cruelest sun
the deadliest ever
on this desert sun the hottest sands
and you will not surrender
the hope is still there
the dream is this oasis somewhere
the bedouin and his coming camel
who knows? and when?

Dream Deferred
a dream deferred is generous
space for love and sacrifices
your fiery wish that that young child
in your warm bossom would not grow up
like you where chances evade like those
clouds flying over the sky
that man you think can grow rich
if you just give him a little helping hand,
cook, iron his clothes and be there when
he needs your inspiration, warmth and love
that old man who you think
should be rewarded with
a string of fine dreams for
deferring his own dream for your sake
because you know how much
a deferred dream could weigh
on the heart, and fly away like crows
scattering bitter black images
over the screens of life

Explode
Theirs something I should get off my chest
I'm losing my mind and my life's a mess.
Well everyone says do this and do that
Maybe they're right
I feel like I'm gonna.......
EXPLODE.. I'M GONNA EXPLODE
It is so big yet I feel so small
It's even in your shopping mall
Is my life wasting away
Don't throw it away that's what they say
I don't wanna go out and fail
Yet I fail at home every day
I wonder someday if I'll look back
With regrets on how I lived
Each way I turn I turn my back
Each time I turn I always look back
I'm trying to please everyone I don't know how
I feel like I'm gonna..
EXPLODE.. I'M GONNA EXPLODE
What should I do I really don't know
Should I stay home or should I go
Well I'm struggling with my sanity
Is my life crumbling in front of me.
Oh.
Do you know how it feels?
To feel like your gonna explode
Do you ever feel
Like your gonna explode.
EXPLODE.

A Defered Dream
• is hope an infringement of life
where as an inspired metaphor
depleted a reason to grow
Is hope so defile in life
that a dream is deferred
upon the wish to succeed
is only a dream
Is hope so denied
that every time you try
you trying, trying again
to start all over again?
Is hope so bitter
that your dreams are over looked
because no one understood you?
Is hope a simile to believe
in all hope, life and maturity
to succeed
is hope the dream you believed
that dream and it became true

My Flag
The red I see should stand for valor
but blood is what I see.
The white I see should stand for pureness
but surrender is what I see.
The blue I see should stand for courage
but sadness is what I see.
Now the flag will fly
and I will cry
for those who don't see like me
that this flag we all revered
will go down in history
as a dream deferred
for the dream is blurred
so it's not flying for the free.
It's flying for a memory
of a dream we thought we had.
Instead the memory is fading
and it's made me deeply sad.

Bottle Up & Explode!
Bottle up and explode over and over
Cos you react slower than slow
Put it away, check out for the day
In for a round of over exposure
The things mother nature provides
To get up and go
Bottle up and explode
Seeing stars surrounding you
Red white and blue
She looks at him like hes never known her
Its only been a year and half
Thinking that that was a matter of fact
Thinking that he was about to come over
Ive been standing up waiting for you
You never showed
Bottle up and explode all the outside signs of you
Red white and blue
Bottle up and explode all the outside signs of you
Red white and blue

Explode
Someday I'm gonna explode from all these bottled up feelings
So i suggest that you to get out of here before you
You find youself dead
One, Two, Three, get out she's gonna explode
One, Two, Three, get out she's gonna fucking blow
Too late your dead
I guess people don't listen
I need to find someone that will
I need to get out some frustration
Before i explode
Once again it happened
It happened once again
People should have listened
People are just fucked in the head
They can't get the simplest shit through their fucking skulls
That's i'm going to explode

Perchance To Dream
Perchance to dream
Drive into the waters edge yeah
Splashing all over me
Turning my world upside down
Then I see, and I start to dream as if for the first time
Suddenly as calm as can be skies full of wonder tears asunder
Climb through the cold falling up to meet the road
Something in my head will explode
Oh baby dream, won't you come and share the world with me
Time with me
Tears on gem rocks tear out, tender to strike it with
The loose rock can satisfy the lights of the soft wood.
And then I see, and I start to dream marching in new shine
Stars on my breath scares me the best flickering metal, shadows
Fly through the air, falling up to brush the clouds
Static in my hair I'm rushing out
Oh baby dream won't you come and share the world with me
Time with me
And then I see, and I start to breath as if for the first time
Suddenly, as calm as can be, sky full of wonder tears me under
Fly through the cold, falling up to meet the road
Something in my head will explode
Oh baby dream, won't you come and share the world with me
Some time with me
Oh baby dream, won't you come and share the world with me
Time with me

A Facial Expression Redefining the Meaning of Love
Love
Like a raisin
Dried in the sun,
Hardened by time,
Sweet to a choke.
The difference
Between a grape
And its transform:
Liquidity.
Rape the juice
From a ripe grape,
You get extract
In solid form.
Sun toughens life,
Dehydrates cells,
Leaves leaves lacking
Cracking color.
Wrinkles written
On a surface
Rough of desire,
Size down to daunt.
It once ago
Was, no longer
Is its old self,
Just a raisin:
A sweet re-treat!
What Happend?
what happened
to the dream of the dawn?
is it deferred
or it dried up
like a date-palm-nut in the desert sun?
I remember when you stacked your tongue out—
and the old man inside me became young again
the sun has not traveled half the golf course
it is only the quarter moon
what happened to the dream
that it howls a thousand torments
cursing the sky god
whose plea for mercy
raises more dust than buffaloes stampeding
my poem limps
pallid from seasons of diet of tears
what happened
to the dream of the dawn
entangled in fetid forests
sinking in shimmering pools?

Across
Across these miles I wish you well.
May nothing haunt your heart but sleep.
May you not sense what I don't tell.
May you not dream, or doubt, or weep.
May what my pen this peaceless day
Writes on this page not reach your view
Till its deferred print lets you say
It speaks to someone else than you.

Raisins (rictameter)
Raisin
Wrinkled morsel
Formerly plump round grape
Sun-dried, shriveled, concentrated
A sweet snack savored by grand ol' granny
Concentrated, shriveled, sun-dried
Formerly plump round girl
Wise and wrinkled
Raisin

Explode
Vera's face burnt as a memory of bedroom fun
With a lighter and some hairspray
Smoking in the girls' room
Not worse than Shelley's rape behind the McDonald's
By a man she thought was fine, didn't tell anybody
Or maybe back then we just thought that she was getting some
Now we look back and see that she didn't know how
We never thought that we'd get caught up
Stuck in the teenage waste
As we explode
As we explode
As we explode
As we explode
Then getting drunk in the bushes by the road outside the Kmart
Rolling around in them to see if you would get prickled
Slip the acid on your tongue rooftop mall parkade
We couldn't get enough
Then count the stars and the ten million woes
Just you and the universe judging each other
We never knew that we'd get caught up
Stuck in the teenage waste
As we explode
As we explode
As we explode
As we let go
It's a fight, it's a fight and you finally belong
Got a shiner now and it's more than a battle scar
More than a battle scar, such a good, good story to tell
At lunch break, lunch break, lunch break, lunch break
Such a good, good story to tell
You bully, you break, you bully, you break
You fake, you fake, you fake, you fake
You smoke, you toke, you want, you flaunt, you hit it and you're in it and it's spinning
And it's wild
We never thought that we'd get caught up
Stuck in the teenage waste
As we explode
As we explode
As we explode
As we let go
We're counting the stars
We're counting the stars
We're gonna go far, we're gonna go far
We're counting the stars, we're counting the stars
We're not very far, we're not very far
And it's you and me in the open air
It's truth or dare, we don't care
We're counting the stars, we're counting the stars, we're counting the stars, we're counting the stars

Inner Visions of A Dream
Cascading through my mind
As if endless,
No space, no time
A vision of a life
I have yet to find.
A dream deferred,
So its not yet mine.
What was so distant
Seems so near.
What was invisible,
Is now visible.
Crystal clear.
Inner visons of a dream,
Searching deep inside my mind.
I find that I have lost myself,
Somewhere in space and time.
Where is the life I thought I knew
The one I used to know
It has been displaced
Maybe even replaced
By one distinctive blow.

Out Of Control
Hot damn
Never dreamed a man could know such speed
Never had a chance to fill my need
Its just what I always wanted
To be the last of a dying breed
Said I thought I had my number down
Id seen every scene to hit this town
Looks like no one wants to tell you
When something like this comes around
There they go, everyones going
Everyones gone this time
There they go, everyones going
Dont you get left behind
Looks like its gonna explode
Looks like its gonna explode
Looks like its gonna go totally out of control
Look out
I aint never seen such chaos before
I aint got no point of reference no more
And when I get my trip together
Ill be making a rush for the door
Doesnt anybody here know the rules
Hasnt anybody gotten through school
And the more I hear the answers
The more that I feel like a fool
Here I go, everyones going
Everyones gone this time
Here I go, everyones going
Dont you get left behind
I think Im gonna explode
I think Im gonna explode
I think Im gonna go totally out of control
