Small Talk
Its not the chapters he reads when youre feeling low down
Its not the touch of his skin when you kiss him goodnight
Its not the money he spends when you want to buy a daydream
And not that miracle smile that makes the sky bright
Its not the way his hands behave
When youve turned out the light
Its the small, small small talk that makes it all happen
Small, small small talk that makes you want to fly, yes it does
Its not the way he believes in you like a religion
Its not the thrill that you get when hes holding you tight
Its not the way his eyes persuade
You to stay the night
Its the small, small small talk that makes it all happen (just like that)
Small, small small talk that makes you feel like flying, yes it does
Information, heart and soul, a whisper, a word
Confessions that have to be heard
Small small talk
Come on now, come on now
Come on - you make it rock so heavenly
Come on now, come on now
Come on - you seem to talk so heavenly
Big words...
Small talk...
Its not the way his eyes persuade
You to stay the night
Its the small, small small talk that makes it all happen
Small, small small talk that makes you feel like flying, yes it does

Mother and Marbles
Mum coming back from the market
Loading the little rickety trishaw
Well known in our little town
A shaky ride for fifty cents
My sweet childhood memories..
Lettuce, cabbage and straw
Bound paper-wrapped pork
Each bundle I helped
Carry to the kitchen table
The bond of mum and child
Sealed from mum's reward
Of an apple or a pear
From the market or a ten-cent
Coin for me to purchase
My next bundle of marbles
Which all still stand quietly
In a milo can in the storeroom
Each a different hue to
Colour the thoughts of
Those love-coated days

Under Wraps #2
Keep it quiet. (go slow.)
Circulate. need to know.
Stamp the date upon your file ---
Masquerade, but well worth while.
Wrapped in the warmth of you ---
Wrapped up in your smile.
Wrapped in the folds of your attention.
Wear an air --- (keep mum)
Of casual indifference.
Careful how you go
About your usual business.
Wrapped in daydreams of you ---
Wrapped up by your eyes.
Wrapped in the folds of your attention.
Under wraps! i've got you under wraps.
Tell you when --- (not yet)
Soon the great unveiling.
Bless my boots! upon my soul!
Secrecy, it is my failing.
Wrapped in your summer night ---
Wrapped in your autumn leaves.
Wrapped in the winter of your sleeping.

Wrapped Around Your Finger
You consider me the young apprentice
Caught between the Scylla and Charibdes.
Hypnotized by you if I should linger
Staring at the ring around your finger.
I have only come here seeking knowledge,
Things they would not teach me of in college.
I cant see the best in me
That you saw
I'll be wrapped around your finger.
I'll be wrapped around your finger.
Mephistopheles is not your name,
But I know what you're up to just the same.
I will listen hard to your tuition,
And you will see it come to it's fruition.
I'll be wrapped around your finger.
I'll be wrapped around your finger.
Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you'll never find me.
I will turn your face to alabaster,
Then you'll find your servant is your master,
And you'll be wrapped around my finger.
I'll be wrapped around your finger.
You'll be wrapped around my finger.
I'll be wrapped around your finger

Queen Lear
Carried in her a rapturous hearth
Wrapped in placental cotton, a miraculous birth
Golden sands of autumn mirth
Yet the tides walloped, Queen Midas's firth
Words wrapped in quaint verse
Failed to part her newborn's lips, echoes terse
A cradle buried in soot, a harrowing hearse
Her bundle in an eternal slumber amidst god's murmurs
Sarcophagus molded in marble and stone
As the weeping lacrimals in madness atone
For mistakes burgundy's path had frantically blown
A night's magic, now a snowy winter to endlessly mourn
As the lullabies unfolded in the passing breeze
Draped was a bundle in virgin white, thrown to the seas
As her autumn's leaves fell to nature's lofty fees
The beauty levitated to a heavenly lullaby's tease
As down trickles a carnage in momentous tears
Crevices and fissures fail to pave the veneers
Yet the voracious voices within wail, cacophonous are one's own jeers
As she succumbs to embrace her fate, my dear Queen Lear

Mad man, once a mother's love.
In a dirty string-like cloth, bottom and chest bare
A body in patches, and dried wounds show
In supplication, hands held out ghostly, for food or dime
Not food not a dime, but sadist's stone,
His stomach rumbles, he rummages his bundle of rags
A rotten banana peel, his lunch it makes
Moons counted, a mother, like any other
Got a sweet product of her womb, kissed like other
She had loved him, yes, a bundle of joy he was.
Powers, the times, the earth it would be drenched, her tears,
Sight of her son, her soul sinks.

The Small Little Rag Doll
The small little rag doll
Made with love
Each stitch sown
By tender loving hands
Places under the tree
Wrapped in Xmas cheer
The little rag doll
A waits to be held
Small young hands
Rips wrappers apart
And smile with delight
At the little rag doll
The gingham dress
The Goldie lock hair
And sown on smile
Make a small child gasp
At a beautiful sight
Loving she holds
The little rag doll
And makes her a bed
In her make believe world
Her mother look’s on
With pride and Joy
That her little baby girl
Loves her little rag doll.

The Prince of the Road.
In some countries he is called a hobo with trousers baggy.
In my country he is a swaggie.
His hair is unkempt, trouser belt a tie.
His hat would make the self respecting person cry.
His ragged beard plunging the depth of his chest,
Under it a worn and stained suits vest.
He wakes in the morn to the Kookaburra laugh,
He makes Billy tea and watches paddle steam craft.
They say he came from outback town to the west,
Some say he was an English duke complete with crest.
If so, he had thrown away a life ease and pleasure,
He had now only one great treasure.
As the Maggie sang he takes a small bundle from his swag,
It is carefully wrapped in oilskin and a velvet rag.
Once unwrapped it is now plain to be seen,
Small book and crests of two houses, a duke and queen.
Once the damper was cooking, after the kneading,
He can be found every morn his scriptures reading.
He had learned many years gone by,
The swaggie's appearance did not make his gracious Lord sigh.
His treasure spoke of the Saviour with kind and gentle spirit,
Who turned his back on temptation, took man's sin and bore it.
Morning saw a swaggie became prince of the road sitting with a King,
Finding the crested book each morn, enriching and warming.
The recipient of Gods blessing is superior to those that receive only the worlds blessing.

Bundle of Joy
oh sweet precious one
you are my little bundle of joy
a miracle sent from above
for me to give my love
a little babe in my arms
when once you were in my womb
a tiny little babe
new to this world secure in my arms
i will never let you go
even when you grow up
for no matter how old you are
you will always be my little bundle of joy
i've always wanted this chance
to be your mommy
this chance to hold you close
and feel your heart beat
in time with mine
oh my sweet little babe
life will be so grand and neat
with you in this world with me
i will always love you
my little bundle of joy

The Waves
You are the one you makes a difference
But I am the one who makes the waves
All down the line this makes us different
So all our dreams may stay awake
You know sometimes things get so strange
And all we do may go astray
Wrapped in your youth these things won't harm you
And they don't hit you like a train
Say... won't you see her
I heard she's waiting at your door
Oh I hope you won't keep near her
I know she's bound to want it all
She's uncommon

Eternity Wrapped
empty nest,
fragments of shells,
and small indentures
of living...
sunlight echoes,
haunting memories....
of wings flapping
against the emptiness
of pure being....
eternity wrapped
in small creatures
and simple things!

broken and Numb.
She knows these are her
Last moments with her still
Born babe knows they'll take
The babe away and leave
Her arms empty like the
Cradle at home standing
In the nursery especially
Prepared with the wallpaper
Chosen and the new carpets
Laid and she hugs the babe
Close to her breasts tries to
Bring warmth to the lifeless
Bundle wrapped in a white
Blanket and we'll be back in
A while the nurse had said
and she left the small room
and the door clicked shut
With a small click and she
Walks the room rocking
The babe feeling the weight
Sensing her child there her
Flesh and blood and she
Wants to breathe life into
The tiny lungs want to see
Movement wants there to
Be a miracle to shock them
To say look there is life you
Must have been mistaken
But no matter how hard she
Breathes or rocks the babe
No life comes no movement
No miracle of miracles and
Out of the window as she passes
The trees have that winter
Bareness the sky the greyness
Of cannon smoke and a little
Way off a woman laughs a
Vacuum machine is turned
On and a baby cries but not
Hers for hers is silent unmoving
Becoming cold and stiff and
She kisses the pale cheek the
Forehead seeks out the small
Uncrutching hands the tiny
Curved fingers and holding
The babe up tight against her
She doesn't want the separation
To come doesn't want the nurse
To take away the babe in her
Arms but she knows the minutes
Tick away and the nurse will
Come and the empty arms will
Leave her broken and numb.

A Look At Nature's Magnificent Painting
i see a slope of a hill filled with trees
and grass
a pathway of human footprints
climbs the hill in concentric circles
a man leads his ass
carrying a bundle of clothes
a pregnant woman follows him
above them is the full moon
on the top of the hill is a little house
roof of hay and walls of bamboos
a tiny light flickers on the window
it is wrapped by the coldness of the wind
and somewhere you feel
a certain orifice
of hope
you cannot just pinpoint exactly where

Poor Places
Its my fathers voice dreaming of
Sailors sailing off in the morning
For the air-conditioned rooms
At the top of the stairs
His jaws been broken
His bandage is wrapped too tight
His fangs have been pulled
And I really want to see you tonight
Theres bourbon on the breath
Of the singer you love so much
He takes all his words from the books
That you dont read anyway
His jaws been broken
His bandage is wrapped too tight
My fangs have been pulled
And I really want to see you tonight
Someone ties a bow
In my backyard to show me love
My voice is climbing walls
Smoking and I want love
My jaws been broken
My heart is wrapped in ice
My fangs have been pulled
And I really want to see you tonight
And it makes no difference to me
How they cried all over overseas
Its hot in the poor places tonight
Im not going outside
They cried all over overseas
It makes no difference to me
Its hot in the poor places tonight
Im not going outside

Blowout
In my mind.
And nailed into my hands
All the time
Killing what I fed
And everything I touch turns to stone.
(all wrapped up in crioline, all wrapped up in suger-coated)
And everything I touch turns to stone.
(all wrapped up in crioline, all wrapped up in suger-coated)
I am fused
Just in case I blow out
I am glued
Just in case I crack out
And everything I touch turns to stone.
(all wrapped up in crioline, all wrapped up in suger-coated)
And everything I touch turns to stone.
(all wrapped up in crioline, all wrapped up in suger-coated)

Blow Out
In my mind and nailed into my heels.
All the time killing what I feel.
And everything I touch
[All wrapped up in cotton wool]
[All wrapped up and sugar coated]
turns to stone.
And everything I touch
[All wrapped up in cotton wool]
[All wrapped up and sugar coated]
turns stone.
I am fused just in case I blow out.
I am glued just because I crack out.
