The piano is the X factor. People have a tough time following the structures when there's no piano there, spelling it out. It makes it more easily understood, particularly to people who don't know as much about music.

Going Solo

She left a message after the tone,
I hear it over and over on the answer phone.
No one can find her, address unknown.
She just decided to go out and make it alone.
Solo, solo,
My little child is going solo.
Solo, solo,
My little child is going solo.
I feel like crying, Im in a rage.
I cant understand why she just ran away.
What made it happen, guess well never know.
She just decided to go out and make it solo.
Solo, solo, solo, solo, solo.
We work like dogs all of our lives,
Like millions of other husbands and wives.
Sent her through college, didnt care what we spent.
Think of how we feel,
She didnt say, she didnt ask, she just went.
Solo, solo,
My little child, youre going solo.
Its like a pattern, its like a crime,
We see it happen time after time.
You raise your children, you watch them grow,
Then one day its good-bye, theyve decided theyre going solo.
Solo, solo, solo, solo, solo.
The toys are forgotten, now it appears,
Youve let them down after all of these years.
Sacrificed all, now theres nothing to show,
Ungrateful youth, decided youre going solo.
Solo, solo,
My little child, youre going solo.
Solo, solo,
Ungrateful youth, youre going solo.
The obligations, all of the ties,
Have got to be broken so you can survive.
Just because they gave you life, they cant stop if you grow,
Now they cant hold you back cause youre going solo

You're just sort of searching for this ""thing"" and sometimes you get it and sometimes you don't. All music is imperfect, but in jazz since you're improvising, at least the way I play, I'm trying to follow my train of thought in a solo.

Go Solo

Music and lyrics: hall
You need to make it on your own
You wanna shake it go it alone
Whatever happened?
I did alright by you
I can feel the passion girl
Its still as strong
Though the places have turned around
Oh I can be the one to wait
You take the easy way out
Im no one to doubt
(if that aint enough)
Aint enough for you
Go solo
(you can take the lead)
Play a brand new part
Go solo, solo
You say theres trouble in paradise
Im only joking but you better be right
Oh, whatever happens, there aint no turnin round
I can understand you need to find yourself
Make a way without any help
Oh I can be the one who waits
To take the only way out
Im no one to doubt
(if that aint enough)
Aint enough for you
Go solo
(you can take the lead)
Play a brand new part
Go solo, solo
I dont mind your flying blind
Just shake it up and take it to the break this time
Shake it up and take it to the break this time
This time, oh
Shake it up and take it, shake it up and take it girl
(if that aint enough)
Aint enough for you
Go solo, go solo
(you can take the lead)
Play a brand new part
Go solo
I could do good somehow
(if it aint enough)
Aint enough for you
Go solo, oh girl
(you can take the lead)
Play a brand new part
Go solo
Oh, shake it up and take it, shake it up and take it
(if that aint enough)
Aint enough for you
Go solo
How could you go solo
(you can take the lead)
Play a new part
Go solo ooh
Shake it
(if that aint enough)
Aint enough for you
Go solo, solo

Breakaway

Another day in the city
Another dancer to the music
But lately, all the music sounds so strange
Well some songs have no meaning
And some songs try to hard
Tryin to say it all
And end up saying nothin
Well maybe the words ring true
Whats right for them
Maybe wrong for you
So come out of the jungle
Of another mans dreams
And if you come to a clearing
As lonely as it seems
Its never too late to breakaway
To breakaway
Another day lost in livin
And another same old beginning
And knowing where and why we went wrong
Someone says Ive changed
And someone says that Ive remained
In the same place
For maybe just a little too long
(chorus) (piano solo) (chorus)

I think one of the best things you can do, no matter what you play, is to take up piano. Music is based on chord changes and harmonies, and you can get 'em more out of an instrument like piano, where you can hear all the notes at once.

Just This Afternoon

tired the whole day, i stay at the second floor
and lay my body on that
bamboo bed where air is passing through
its plats,
this is a cool mechanism
and i sleep

waking up later, it is already dark
and i hear the sound
of piano music from the other house
of our next door neighbor

it is yann tiersen again on the piano
and i remember this lady you guided the blind man
on such a fast speed like a piano music
on allegro
at the mall, at the center of the mall
where there is so much light
she left him there
wondering: what world is this? who are you?

enough of memories, i go back to you tube
and listen again

it is another yann tiersen, this time
Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain

who i am? i ask such a silly question again.
another attempt at a poem
philosophizing...

Siamo Solo Noi

Siamo solo noi
rubano solamente
siamo solo noi
generazione di sconvolti
che non han pi santi n eroi
siamo solo noi
siamo solo noi
siamo solo noi...

The piano chords

You play the piano chords
In this sonata as well as
In the music of Prokofiev,
Emphatically catching the music's mood.
Fingers seem to stick the keys
And the keys seem to direct the fingers,
When the thumbs move under them.
You both look like a single being,
In together.
The piano seemingly breaks the sounds.
They penetrate my soul,
Searching for the necessary words.
I understand the story of your feelings.

Let The Music Heal Your Soul

Oh when someone writes a song
With a simple line
Just a song
Where the seasons show
And if someone feels the same
About the simple song
Oh sometimes
You just cant hear them say
Music gives you happiness or sadness
But it also, it also heals your soul
Chorus
Let the music heal your soul
Let the music take control
Let the music give you
The power to move any mountain
Or if someone plays piano
With some simple chords
So melodic
And endearing too
Oh if someone plays guitar
With the old piano
Then maybe
You can hear them sing
Music gives you happiness or sadness
But it also, it also heals your soul
Chorus
Let the music heal your soul
Let the music take control
Let the music give you
The power to move any mountain
Oh yes
Let the music heal your soul
Let the music take control
Let the music heal your soul
Oh, oh yes
Let the music heal your soul
Let the music take control (take control)
Let the music heal your soul (heal your soul)
Let the music take control (let the music take control)
Let the music heal your soul
Let the music take control (oh yes)
Let the music heal your soul (everybody make
Let the music take control (let the music take control)
Let the music heal your soul (let it heal your soul)
Let the music take control (oh, oh)
Let the music heal your soul
Let the music take control

Failed Musician

Failed Musician?

My uncle died, he was on holiday in Piraeus when a pig fell off
a balcony, he left a piano and since his wife didn’t want it in her
house, mother took it, only because it would lend an impression
of high culture, and no one else in our neighbourhood had one.
I played on it day and night, picked up tunes on radio and played
them on the piano; people where impressed, mother too, but she
needed her rest worked long hours at a canning factory; one day,
coming home from school, a big empty space, I cried mother gave
me Danish pastry, they were a day old but still tasty. I’m glad she
sold the piano, though I might have ended up a restaurant pianist
driving from town to town playing evergreens as background music
for bored diners

The Piano Lurched

Contact was sharp…

I jolted from immediacy of senses torn from mind:
Such was I at unawares with you –
To strike with Master’s single chord that pounced and caught me blind –
Piano, how you lurched and rent me through!

Delightful music welcomed me to drift in quasi-syncope:
Soft tranquillo sought to rest my bones –
I glided reaching largo; sang with sweet cantabile, and
Forte let me in to louder tones.

I cried with lacrimoso; squirmed when agitato flared;
My hearing rang when fingers danced the trill.
And so it was, this maestro grand was genius declared –
Acting out in music for the thrill.

Translating pen to piano, this player takes me back thro’ time…
In the chamber, fine composers charm:
I watch the manic hands of Liszt abound with tunes sublime;
Mozart teased my mood with stark alarm.

Then entered Bach to demonstrate his mathematic flare,
Calculating notes supreme of form.
And I – the minion audience – sat wanting in my chair,
Having heard my idols all perform.

Did Darwin’s theory tell at all why Man evolved this way?
Why would music help him to survive?
But scientific muse had veered my thoughts from this display, and
Music called: ‘Just listen - you’re alive! ’

The maestro draws conclusion; lets the piano die a death
To stand as wood, inert just as before –
A pollished casket lined with keys, at calm from naught of breath,
Bade me scream: ‘Bravo! ’ and ‘Hail! Encore! ’

He wakes the box to dance again with noble works of art:
Resurrected; fully primed with zest.
Now even I was back to life with reason in my heart –
Heightened from the pounding in my chest.
