‘To the Slaughter-house’- A Cattle-song!
To the slaughter-house! To the slaughter-house!
Here we cows all go;
We gave men milk and butter, ghee;
They want our beef now;
We’ve no other go.
To the slaughter-house! To the slaughter-house!
Here we oxen go;
We tilled their lands and milled oil-seeds;
They want our hide now;
We’ve no other go.
To the slaughter-house! To the slaughter-house!
Here we sheep all go;
We grazed their meadows, eating grass;
They want our mutton now;
We’ve no other go.
To the slaughter-house! To the slaughter-house!
Here we cattle go;
We served mankind as God said so;
Selfish men want our flesh now;
We’ve no other go.
To the slaughter-house! To the slaughter-house!
Here we animals go;
Jostled, huddled, unfed, crowded;
Men want our lives now;
This is our last ride, we all know;
We’ve no other go.

Nanny's Chore - 0112 - Current Version
Falls with full force
on all fours.
Crawls on the floor,
muddy paws.
Calls from the door,
sobbing sore.
Clad in small drawers,
cries out for more,
and more, and more,
poor Nanny's chore!
How can one draw
order calls
for sense, though sore
adult bawls:
'can't take no more! '
and recalls
rules youth knew, or
behind mind's shawls
from memory's store
prints out before
all patience stalls.
What are rules core
whose wherewithal
can calm restore
without angst? Thaw
through love's pure thrall
helps both withdraw
from crisis caw.
Rules shan't as chore
be seen, enthrall
as two adore
life's common law
avoiding brawl,
turmoil ignore.

Similar Worlds
The world married to another world,
Pleasing us with its thoughts always.
May it be forbidden to slaughter someone else,
Placing blame on others for their own misdeeds.
Heaven created a slaughter to be known widely
And then the slaughter was not known widely,
Instead there was no slaughter.
For it was the world that held slaughter in its own hands,
Worsening ties with some people elsewhere.
A shining new working planet evolved
And flew one way and only a way that was an orbit,
For it was not a flat world, but round,
Like the balls it contained of spherical shape
Most pleasing to the sight.
Each world was a majestic creation
And these worlds were similar.

Fortress Of Tears
No one can hurt you now in this haven safe and sound
no one can save you now from this grace you are drowning in
just hold your breath on your way down
This fortress of tears
I've built from my fears for you
This fortress won't fall
I've built it strong for you
No one can free you now
from the chains around your heart
don't be afraid now
just dive in this emptiness
and hold your breath on your way down
This fortress of tears
I've built from my fears for you
This fortress won't fall
I've built it strong for you
No one can hurt you now
in this haven safe and sound
just hold your breath on your way down
This fortress of tears
I've built from my fears for you
This fortress won't fall
I've built it strong for you...

The Survivor
I am twenty-four
led to slaughter
I survived.
The following are empty synonyms:
man and beast
love and hate
friend and foe
darkness and light.
The way of killing men and beasts is the same
I've seen it:
truckfuls of chopped-up men
who will not be saved.
Ideas are mere words:
virtue and crime
truth and lies
beauty and ugliness
courage and cowardice.
Virtue and crime weigh the same
I've seen it:
in a man who was both
criminal and virtuous.
I seek a teacher and a master
may he restore my sight hearing and speech
may he again name objects and ideas
may he separate darkness from light.
I am twenty-four
led to slaughter
I survived.

The Hammer And The Fortress
The hammer and fortress are like thunder,
Each hammer is solid and strong,
And each fortress sounds like iron and is robust.
One forest exactly betrays the people,
For it involves a storm, when mountains surrender.
A worthwhile action surrounds us, anyway we laugh,
But this is serious through and through.
The night said ‘No! ’ to all of it,
The storm was of thunder and lightning
And the hammer was the cause,
The fortress was the protected one.
And so we fight a life so needed
Whereas the soldier or knight or resident
Fights always the elements.

Psalm 80
Cause Your face to shine upon us
Let your light shine in the dark
Cause your face to shine upon us
The jackals howl and the dogs they bark
Cause your face to shine upon us
Our food has been the bread of tears
Cause your face to shine upon us
We have wandered for so many years
Cause your face to shine upon us
The thirsty's given tears to drink
Cause your face to shine upon us
For in the mire we surely sink
Restore us Lord O God of hosts
We were planted by your very hand
Restore us Lord O God of hosts
Our fertile soil has turned to sand
Restore us Lord O God of hosts
Your face shines down from up above
Restore us Lord O God of hosts
Restore us with your precious love

Fortress
It's bitter
Tastes a lot like winter
And will it- release me
So heavy
How much more to bring down the levy
And kill me - don't kill me
[Chorus]
I've been stayin' high...
And I've been feelin' sorry
For myself
And I've been resurrecting my
Fortress to protect myself
Shattered
Tired

Mother’s Cry of Late
Where for art thou, soldier?
Out East? West? –
And when? –
What part your rabid history?
And why? –
What wrought your destiny? –
For whom
You’d wreak your enmity –
I crave your fate to pen!
What comprehension of the
Order? –
‘Listen up! you men!
Raze to ground the taken land!
See they die and e’er you’ll stand, for
Death is but a grain of sand –
The mighty triumph, medal grand!
Now go you well!
Amen! ’
What sight upon the bloody lie
Of war? – your doubtful fate.
‘Where for art thou, soldier? ’ –
Your mother’s cry of late.

Faith
I ask myself
Where has passion gone? Have I grown up?
Am I too old?
I don't feel like I did
I need to feel, there's nothing else
Nothing left
But your taste in my mind
Where have I gone?
Where have I gone?
You come along to sing this song
Restore my faith like nothing's wrong
You come along to sing this song
Restore my faith like nothing's wrong
But I'm
Singing this song
I feel sick
I need more than this
Where have I gone?
Where have I gone? What shuts me down, tears me apart?
I don't know
What I am
Where's the man, the man with dreams? One man alone
I haven't changed a thing
You come along to sing this song
Restore my faith like nothing's wrong
You come along to sing this song
Restore my faith like nothing's wrong
You come along to sing this song
Restore my faith like nothing's wrong
You come along to sing this song
Restore my faith like nothing's wrong
But I'm
Singing this song

Pie In The Sky
It takes photon power
And eight minutes of an hour
To make it to our sun
And I know it sounds weird
But itll take you four years
To make the next one
Expanding border
Thats the sauce
Of chaos
And thats an order
Thats an order
So stomp your feet
And clap your hands
Get out of your seat
And do a little dance
Lift up your voice
And sing with glee
Now listen carefully to me
Desert your quarters
Behold the pie in the sky
And thats an order
Thats an order
Thats an order [7x]

Restoration Ode
Restoration Ode
What tends toward orbit and return,
comets and melodies, robins and trash trucks
restore us. What would be an arrow, a dove
to pierce our hearts restore us. Restore us
minutes clustered like nursing baby bats
and minutes that are shards of glass. Mountains
that are vapor, mice living in cathedrals,
and the heft and lightness of snow restore us.
One hope inside dread, 'Oh what the hell'
inside 'I can't' like a pearl inside a cake
of soap, love in lust in loss, and the tub
filled with dirt in the backyard restore us.
Sunflowers, let me wait, let me please
see the bridge again from my smacked-up
desk on Euclid, jog by the Black Angel
without begging, dream without thrashing.
Let us be quick and accurate with the knife
and everything that dashes restore us,
salmon, shadows buzzing in the wind,
wren trapped in the atrium, and all
that stills at last, my friend's cat,
a pile of leaves after much practice,
and ash beneath the grate, last ember
winked shut restore us. And the one who comes
out from the back wiping his hands on a rag,
saying, 'Who knows, there might be a chance.'
And one more undestroyed, knocked-down nest
stitched with cellophane and dental floss,
one more gift to gently shake
and one more guess and one more chance.

Christianity is perhaps as much indebted to its enemies, as to its friends, for this important service. In their indiscriminate attacks, whatever has been found to be untenable has been gradually abandoned, and I hope the attack will be continued till nothing of the wretched outworks be left; and then, I doubt not, a safe and impregnable fortress, will be sound in the center, a fortress built upon a rock, against which the gates of death will not prevail.
