A Bit Of Both
Life is filled with surprises
some are large, some are small,
and there are some surprises
that are never welcome at all.
We walk through life accepting
the good with the bad,
but always hoping for the best
and always dreading the worst.
No matter which way we look at it,
life is going to give us a bit of both.

Our House Of Prayer
With our house surprises are certain,
The sure men who love me most are in here.
The children have no longer been ill,
And this time we have sickness.
The illness to know is too striking,
It means times of the world are changing.
This time, we call them an angel,
And this angel is deadly for our children.
The house is empty now of surprises,
For the prayers will be answered.

This Years Girl
See her picture in a thousand places
cause shes this years girl.
You think you all own little pieces
Of this years girl.
Forget your fancy manners,
Forget your english grammar,
cause you dont really give a damn
About this years girl.
Still youre hoping that shes well spoken
cause shes this years girl.
You want her broken with her mouth wide open
cause shes this years girl.
Never knowing its a real attraction,
All these promises of satisfaction,
While shes being bored to distraction
Being this years girl.
Times running out. shes not happy with the cost.
Thered be no doubt, only shes forgotten
Much more than shes lost.
A bright spark might corner the market
In this years girl.
You see yourself rolling on the carpet
With this years girl.
Those disco synthesizers,
Those daily tranquilizers,
Those body building prizes,
Those bedroom alibis,
All this, but no surprises for this years girl.
All this, but no surprises for this years girl.
All this, but no surprises for this years girl.

I Have No Poem Tonight/ But Life In Its Strange Beauty Surprises
I HAVE NO POEM TONIGHT/ BUT LIFE IN ITS STRANGE BEAUTY SURPRISES
I have no poem tonight
But life in its strange beauty surprises
And somewhere looking up at the sky
I see
An endless hope-
A beauty beyond any dreaming
A depth of light and black and night
No one could ever imagine alone.
This world of God sometimes-
Is as much a true home,
As for me
A true poem.

Food On My Table
Come and see the food on my table,
For it is prepared for you and me;
And, i am waiting for you in the room of my love.
Life is full of surprises and i want to show you my love,
And here comes the sun of the morning to touch your heart;
For, it is right for you to be beside me at this table.
The food on my table,
As soon as you receive my letter means that i love you;
For life is full of surprises and i want your love,
So come and let us share this food on my table.

Out From the Woodwork...AGAIN
Prepare for them.
They are plotting...
To make surprises appearances,
From nowhere.
Out from the woodwork.
Those who once had issues,
With your lifestyle and how you lived.
Those who criticized your efforts.
And everything you did.
But time have changed.
And an exchange of fortunes,
Have occured.
Those who thought nothing of slandering you,
And now wishing for your time,
To impose upon you...
Wanting full attention.
And their voices to be heard!
Prepare for them.
They are plotting...
To make surprises appearances,
From nowhere.
Out from the woodwork.
Those who called you a fool and jerk...
Are out of time, money.
A place to live!
Since they are out of work,
And integrity!

Never Let Me Go
Wow. after I jumped, it ocurred to me. life is perfect. life is the best, full of magic, beauty, opportunity, and television. and surprises...lots of surprises, yeah. and then theres the best
, of course. better than anything anyone ever made up, cause its real.
You take a stranger by the hand
A man who doesnt understand
His wildest dreams
You walk across the dirty sand
And offer him an ocean
Of what hes never seen
Maybe I was blind
Or i, I might have closed my eyes
Maybe I was dumb
But what I forgot to say
If you didnt know
Is never let me go
Never let me go
Never let me go
Never let me go
You run from love and dont believe
Unless it catches you by the heel
That even then, you struggle
From red I learned to cross the strand
Your footprints still there in the sand
Everything else, washed away
I may not be alone
Oh i, I may have found my home
I may have lost my way
But what I forgot to say
If you didnt know
Is never let me go
Never let me go
Never let me go

Only Time Can Tell
Just when you think something
has nothing more to give
it surprises you with a little bit more.
Forty-five years ago,
I wrote something at a fun fare
and it keeps coming back
with something exciting and new.
First, it became my best-loved poem
with over fifty-five people
making it one of their favourites.
Next, it was used in an English class
in a London college,
then it had a video make of it
and then incorporated into a symphony,
it was read out at a memorial service
for an American serviceman in Afghanistan.
Another surprise came when
it was translated into Russian
for a University in the Ukraine
and then yesterday I found
it had been turned into a country song,
which really made my day,
something I had always imagined it to be,
and the tune they used was similar
to what I envisaged when I wrote it
all those years ago.
I cannot even guess what more surprises
this piece holds in store,
only time can tell.

How Many Deviations In A Life's Journey
how many deviations a life's journey takes on on its onward march,
attracted to all and sundry sweet things, like bees, on its way-
a hop here, a bite there, a suck elsewhere, and a flight to something else;
quite puzzled to select its haunt, it reels in pain of defeat and non-achievement;
the dabbling continues unabated till the day dawns of its sudden enlightenment -
when, realising its potential in a specific field, decides to desert the others,
of course with a heavy heart, hardening its resolve to pursue in only one field!
it surprises life why so much haggling so long on a simple problem!
now this road is lit with surprises of successes gladdening the life!
that is how i landed on poetry from painting and other diverting passions.

Do You Think It's Alright / Fiddle About
(Pete Townshend)
I used to know everything about you
But today when I tried to point you out to one of my friends
I picked the wrong girl again
Don't see you in the crowd anymore
I think it's you but I can't be sure
You're wearing disguises
Occasionally a girl surprises me
When she turns out to be you
Wearing disguises
I don't think you want me to see you ever again
And today I saw you dressed as a flower bed
Last week you had a wig on your head
Directing traffic in the street
And your shoes were too big for your feet
You were wearing disguises
Occasionally a girl surprises me
When she turns out to be you
Wearing disguises
[repeat first verse]
Wearing disguises

Done Without Instructions
There are those having the most difficult time,
They have ever had to experience in their lives.
And adjusting for them,
Has to be done without instructions.
To awaken and to realize,
A road stubbornly followed...
Has a dead end that surprises,
Is quite traumatic.
Especially when it becomes consciously accepted,
Those who have been denied participation...
For a host of reasons thought to be unethical,
And foolish.
Have them now exposed as fools.
With nothing but walss they have constructed,
To hit their heads against.
To awaken and to realize,
A road stubbornly followed...
Has a dead end that surprises,
Is quite traumatic.
There are those having the most difficult time,
They have ever had to experience in their lives.
And adjusting for them,
Has to be done without instructions.

Surprises 2
Life is filled with surprises
and I have had my fair share of them.
Imagine going to a friend’s funeral
and months down the line,
you end up marrying his widow.
Yes, that has happened to me.
Imagine after fifty-six years
discovering you had a brother
you never knew you had.
Yes, that has happened to me.
Imagine going to school with someone
you never remember speaking to
and then fifty-one years later
they become your best friend.
Yes, that has happened to me.
Imagine this friend
introducing you to a friend of theirs
and between them both
turn your life around.
Yes, that has happened to me.
Surprises happen when you least expect them,
they can happen anytime anywhere.
You can never predict when they will occur,
they just happen for a reason,
a reason for which we are never sure.
However, never turn your back on them;
count them as a blessing
that might never come again.
