I have family obligations and all that stuff. I get my kids six weeks in the summer, which is a real intense period of time. I'm with them every minute of the day.

8 Weeks
8 weeks to live
8 weeks to die
8 weeks is all they had
8 weeks to do the things they never did
8 weeks of fighting
8 weeks of trying to fit everything in
8 weeks of pain, suffering, and confusion
8 weeks of faking a smile
8 weeks of repetition
8 weeks of knowing they were nearing the end
8 weeks of love from friends and family
8 weeks…the shortest/longest, most hurtful/helpful weeks of their lives
8 weeks later…knowing they’ll never be able to do the things they’ve always wanted to
8 weeks later…now realizing he’ll never see her walk, at graduation nor down the aisle
8 weeks later…close friends and family now in shambles
8 weeks later…close friends and family never closer
8 weeks later…here we are

You do become very close like a family but because you see each other for such an intense period of time on the set everyday. You really don't end up socializing that much.
Living On A Fixed Income
I've come up with a plan,
To help budget my fixed income.
And I am sure,
Those like myself...
Who can barely exist from month to month,
Will find this to be exactly what they have been seeking.
I have decided to eliminate the last two weeks of each month.
And I awakened realizing,
How much time, money and energy I could save.
I've taken all my calendars...
And just cut away the last two weeks from each month.
Not only am I feeling better about it,
I'm already planning to take a vacation...
With the excess savings.
Who knew how simple it could be,
To make living on a fixed income...
Such a wonderful experience.
And with those weeks I've cut away?
I've decided to donate them to people complaining,
How they wish they had more time to do 'stuff'.
Not only will they have more time on their hands...
Perhaps they will stop complaining, period!

I had 500 kids at camp this past summer for example. We do nine weeks for kids and nine days for grown ups every summer. The adult camp is a lot of fun.

Just In A Minute (Minute Poem)
The Minute Poem is:
a 12 line Poem made up of 3 quatrains.
syllabic, L1 8 syllables and L2-L3- L4-4 syllables each.
rhymed, rhyme scheme of aabb ccdd eeff.
A flash of memory in fills-
There the pupils
Of my old school
Quite bored and cool-
It was the day's last period
Pupils were tired
Just third class kids
With shut eye lids-
One naughty boy of higher class
Slipped out from class
Like a bad thief
Did the mischief
Rang the bell before closing time
Stirred school in rhyme
Dispersed early
Hurry-scurry

Your Summer Dream
Drive your car down to the sea
All the while you build a scheme
Take her hand and walk on with her
Make it real your summer dream
Smell the warm and salty air
See a wave reflect a beam
Stop and find a pretty shell for her
Make it real your summer dream
See another couple over there
To them an ordinary day
Soon you wonder the time has gone
The sun has almost slipped away
Now it's gone and your alone
In her eyes you see a gleam
Time has come for you to show your love
Make it real your summer dream
Make it real your summer dream
Make it real your summer dream

Minute By Minute (Dobbie Brothers)
(Michael McDonaldLester Abrams)
Hey, don't worry, I've been lied to
I've been here many times before
Girl, don't you worry, I know where I stand
I don't need this love, I don't need your hand
I know I could turn, blink, and you'd be gone
Then I must be prepared any time to carry on
But minute by minute by minute by minute
I keep holding on
Oh, minute by minute by minute by minute
I keep holding on
You will stay just to watch me, darlin'
Wilt away on lies from you
Can't stop the habit of livin' on the run
I take it all for granted like you're the only one
Livin' on my own
Somehow that sounds nice
You think I'm your fool
Well, you may just be right
'Cause minute by minute by minute by minute
I keep holding on
Oh, minute by minute by minute by minute
I keep holding on
Call my name and I'll be gone
You'll reach out and I won't be there
Just my luck you'll realize
You should spend your life with someone
You could spend your life with someone
Minute by minute by minute by minute
I'll be holding on
Oh, minute by minute by minute by minute
I'll be holding on...

Kids
Kids - kids, Christmas i-is for kids
Look around and you will see
Kids from one to ninety-three
Laughin', lovin' life and bein' kids
Kids - ki-i-i-ids, Christmas i-is for kids
Kids like you and little brother
Aunts and uncles, dads and mothers
Grandma, grandpa an' all the other kids
Daddy runs the 'lectric train
While all the children wait in vain
To take their turn
At playin' engineer
Grandpa catches grandma's cheek
And all the family sneaks a peak
And suddenly
Their wrinkles disappear
Take a look at Betty Joe
Underneath the mistletoe
Pretending that
She doesn't know it's there
And in the front yard Uncle Mike
Just fell off brother's brand new bike
There's Christmas cheer
And laughter everywhere
Kids (kids) - ki-i-i-ids (kids)
Christmas i-is for kids
Christmas time is here again
And now it's when the fun begins
This time of year we all turn into kids...

Sylvia Is Dead
all the stages are for her,
she burned her head whole
inside an oven and she keeps the
riddles of the nine syllables
crisp, and firm, and creepy
that is sylvia's best
and look
here comes the rest,
they follow.
intense, so so intense.
painful death and deadly poetry.
my soul rises to the 7th heaven.
i, am, too,
intense, like, you, too, two, the
two of you,
intensity lost
recovered
in a minute or so, so so intense.
i feign death.
i still love to solve the tenth riddle.
the three monkeys are still with me.
they are so cute.

Joie De Vivre
We must know where our kids are at all the time
And protect them from danger
We must teach them not to talk to strangers
Joie de vivre
The kids are part of our family
We raise them from babies to adult
Sometimes we wish they would grow up fast
Sometimes we wish they never grew up
They do things that drive their parent crazy at times
Joie de vivre
It is important that they socialize with kids of their own age group
On the weekends it is time to get the family together
Dad’s drive there kids to soccer games
They cheer for there soccer team
When there soccer team wins it is a celebration
All the dad’s scream of joy
Dad’s are proud of there kids achievement

The summer it snowed
Blue skies
yards of green
flowers of mulitude
among such wonderess gifts
I walk towards my ever nearing
winter
My lungs full of dirty snow
I hear not the singing of birds
but the calling of my black forcast
Summer
kids play
boats sail
I succum
no longer able to shovel
the snow away
Yet in peace in tread
for months are now weeks
and soon weeks will be days
For me spring brought fall
and the summer brought
snow
and the winter will bring
my forever peace

If your kids attend school and grades are up that will make $1,000 contributions to some 10,000 kids across the country, are challenging kids to learn foreign languages or challenging kids to get summer jobs or seek summer enrichment opportunities?

I never get to do light summer films. I tend to do things that are intense and anxiety-provoking. By the time I finish those films, I need to take a nap. I do actually gravitate toward the intense pieces, though. I like characters that are on the edge and also incredibly strong at the same time. I like when a character really teaches you something about yourself, and I find that I am learning something just about every single time.
