I think that musicians should never forget about the intimacy of bringing two people together, and the aesthetic transference where you're almost vicariously involved in a romance between other people.

People are afraid to ask musicians to be involved in projects because they anticipate being turned down. Young artists hesitate before contacting me. People in my position don't get approached often enough.

Romance Bore Seduction
Hand blessed hand, caressed.
A blushing rose, her face;
Her breast alive;
The elfin nose, a diamond set -
A kiss upon perfection
Bore a rise of pulse
To coach a sultry moan
Across a mellow breath of wine.
He knew; he sensed,
And easing loose a clasp of lace,
Another sign of her relenting:
Wild the play of eyes,
A fuller glide of skin;
He felt the now begin -
Her swell, intention in the sigh.
And so to hedge his move upon the cue -
The cry of deep anticipation,
Waxing all he saw -
Tho' not for us to view -
Arrived, emotion raw.

The lion's share of what I hear right now are people who, intentional or accidental, have avoided all jazz prior to 1960. And all the musicians who were successful in the '60s spent their entire lives, prior to 1960, listening to all the musicians these people avoid.

People Forget
Going out of one's way,
To discredit the deeds done by others...
To portray them with betrayals,
Mocked and displayed to jest...
Has these disadvantages:
God is always listening.
God is a Master at fixing things.
And God is quick to share,
With those who faithfully pray.
Removing deceivers and exposes truth...
For all to see,
Those who have created such falsities.
And eventually there is an exchanging of pain.
People forget,
Whose World this is.
People forget,
What they do is inspected.
And not just left,
To go undetected.
People forget,
Everything done they do is known.
People forget,
What goes down...
Comes back around like a yo-yo,
Going up and down affixed to a string.
People forget,
These things.

And there's a lot of that stuff with people bringing their kids, kids bringing their parents, people bringing their grandparents - I mean, it's gotten to be really stretched out now. It was never my intention to say, this is the demographics of our audience.

There's nothing self-gratifying about knowing you've played a performance where people may easily dislike the character and associate it with you. There's nothing fun about having people suspicious about why you're making work. I'm clearly not networking or making a bid for popularity. I'm following another motivation, and it's not as a provocateur. It's because I'm blinded, like an idiot, by wanting to preserve and express an insight that I have, or an aesthetic that I believe in. I forget that people react to me personally as the representative of that. Did you see a credit for hair and makeup? How can I be a narcissist? I've never even had hair and makeup done for me on a film. I don't even know what I look like as I'm filming.

Romance
You said you were through with romance
Why take a chance on anyone
Youre so beautiful too
I can tell by the way that you dance
They say that people dont change
Why rearrange the original
You do something to me
That my eyes cannot see at a glance
Signs of a new beginning
Signs of a life worth living
The better to forget than to be all that upset
Its the time to taste the wine
And maybe someday things will change
And come with in range and be laughable
Everything is okay
I can tell by the way that you dance
They say that people dont try
Thats just a lie, they work miracles
Its a gift from above
When we talk about love and romance
Signs of a new tomorrow
Signs of a life without sorrow
The better to forget than to be all that upset
Its the time to taste the wine
And maybe this time you will be
Romantic like me when Im with you
And I think you might say
I can tell by the way that you dance
They say that people dont change
Like home on the range, its original
You do something to me
That my eyes cannont see at a glance
You do something to me
When we talk about love and romance

In this era it's harder for musicians to get together. Back in the '80s, we were all at the clubs, you ran into people all the time. Now, everybody's kind of in their own room with their computers. I use making an album as an opportunity to connect with musicians.

Chastity in seclusion
Proximity is a deadly enemy
To unwanted intimacy.
Proximity alone is incapable
Of bringing intimacy
Unless women find in men
Some appreciative traits
That appeal to them irresistibly.
Chastity thrives in seclusion.

If you get it out into the urban field it's going to be used or misused but it'll also probably provide a way of people acknowledging what the aesthetic is about because people have to confront it every day.

Eminence Front
The sun shines
And people forget
The spray flies as the speedboat glides
And people forget
Forget theyre hiding
The girls smile
And people forget
The snow packs as the skier tracks
And people forget
Forget theyre hiding.
Behind an eminence front
Eminence front - its a put on.
Come on join the party
Dress to kill
Wont you come and join the party
Dress to kill.
The drinks flow
People forget
That big wheel spins, the hair thins
People forget
Forget theyre hiding
The news slows
People forget
The shares crash, hopes are dashed
People forget
Forget theyre hiding.
Behind an eminence front
Eminence front - its a put on
Come on join the party
Dress to
Come on join the party
Dress to
Come on join the party
Dress to
Come on join the party
Dress to kill
Dress yourself, dressed to kill.

I think for anything to change, in the real world, people have got to change on the inside and that's what we want to start, to get people to think and do more themselves and get involved in whatever they want to get involved with.

Facebook Is Heaven For People With Attachment, Intimacy Issues
At times part of me feels that Facebook is heaven for people with attachment, intimacy issues, with avoidant and passive aggressive personality disorder. Or narcissist that collect people, that use people as objects.

Intimacy is feared
Lovers fear secrecy
As they both have secrecy.
Intimacy means connecting
The inner core of the two,
Which will expose their weak spots,
Fearing which they fear intimacy.
They want bodily intimacy
Without soul’s intimacy.
Such intimacy betrays trust
And will wreck the very love.

Why are people always
Why are people always cheating?
Why are people always fighting?
Why are people always dieing?
Why are people always crying?
Why are people always hating?
Why are people always debating?
Why are people always trading?
Why are people always trying to fit in?
Why are people always cursing?
Why are people always bursting?
Why are people always tripping?
Why are people always not trying to be fair?
Why are people always trying to be dumb?
Why are people always playing too much?
Why are people always misbehaving?
Why are people always do drugs?
Why are people always not trying to have a future?
Why do people always try to ruin their life?
Why?

I am not involved in any 'issues' because it's too sensitive for me - or my wife - to get involved. Every time we express an opinion it becomes a whole thing in itself. And the whole purpose of living in the countryside was to get away from hundreds of people. My wife fell off a horse, and suddenly there are hundreds of people around.
