I have devoted my energies to the study of the scriptures, observing monastic discipline, and singing the daily services in church; study, teaching, and writing have always been my delight.

There are two methods for the literary study of any book - the first being the study of its thought and emotion; the second only that of its workmanship. A student of literature should study some of the Bible from both points of view.

Assiduous
When one does a setup,
What is the first thing one must do?
'Observe, study and plan.'
Okay.
But I would think...
The first thing one must do,
Is to remain true to onself.
Prepared to face any dilemma.
And then proceed.
Most times...
The setting up of something,
Takes years in the making.
And requires patience, discipline and diligence.
'That's why I said...
Observe, study and plan.'
With an application of assiduity.
Being one who is assiduous.
'We could have left the name calling out of this.
But if you want to stoop to those levels...
I can hang, you know? '
Study and plan 'before' you setup.
Comprehend with understand first!
Dissect and listen.
Then research.

We study the injustices of history for the same reason that we study genocide, and for the same reason that psychologists study the minds of murderers and rapists... to understand how those evil things came about.

I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce, and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.

At Night When You Are Fast Asleep
i do not care much if you do not care about what i do at night when i am alone in my study
(actually writing poetry)
all i need is only a little warmth from the silky, curly hair of my poodle
sleeping beside my bare feet contented with the touch of my toes.
the two of us, just the two of us,
against the rage of the cold, dark night
the light from a study lamp
mingling with the glare of the monitor
a miniature of life
an islet of my nocturnal universe.

Come smile at me again
Come smile at me
come smile at me again.
And use the only smile you have,
the selfless and exquisite one.
And keep your eyes on me.
I'd like to study
the nuances of your smile.
Come look at me.
Come look at me again.
And use the only look you have:
The one of pure
Manuka Honey.
And keep your look on me.
I'd like to study
all the markings on your face.
Come close to me.
Come close to me again.
And hold your warm and tender body close to mine.
Come closer yet.
I'd like to study
YOU,
and hope to never graduate.

Salary Dictates Defeats Poetic Creativity
eighteen months is reality
record writing with years thirty
plus of employment essentially
nothing highlights loss empty
wasteland low or no creativity
rich years were not verse written
yet we embraced them like the sun
study wage need economic necessity
are strict task masters habitually
hourly daily weekly monthly yearly
predictably frequently demand time tenacity
poor stubborn determined plan stick firmly
persistently to difficult long term goals rigidly
sought sacrifice success is details won accurately
easily the rich study poverty grasps dreams tightly
