I remember how my Great Uncle Jerry would sit on the porch and whittle all day long. Once he whittled me a toy boat out of a larger toy boat I had. It was almost as good as the first one, except now it had bumpy whittle marks all over it. And no paint, because he had whittled off the paint.

Blind Man's Buff
I remember as a child we used to
Play out in the square,
In the sleepy little village
Someone christened Uno Ware,
There was never any traffic so
Until we'd had enough,
With the cruelty of children
We'd keep playing Blind Man's Buff.
It was cruel, I admit it and
Regret the very day,
The first time we invited young
Immanuel to play,
He was Russian, and had come to live
From halfway round the earth,
He was always labelled ‘It' because
He'd been stone blind from birth.
His father, Andropovski was
An evil looking man,
But he'd fled before the Communists
Had come to rule the land,
He'd been in the Palace Guard, had
Given service to the Csar,
While the Bolsheviks had gathered,
He'd deserted, travelled far.
Immanuel was only nine
A stranger to the street,
He was not allowed to play with us
The urchins in bare feet,
But his father was a woodsman and
Away most every day,
So we gathered round his window,
Asked Immanuel to play.
We'd lead him out and spin him round
And say, ‘You're it! ' and stuff,
And he'd shriek and laugh and stagger
As we played our Blind Man's Buff,
But he very rarely caught us
We were far too quick for him,
‘Til his father, Andropovski,
Kicked our butts and took him in.
After that he stayed inside or
Came to sit out on the porch,
And he'd listen to us playing
We'd indulge in different sports,
Then he took a knife and whittled
Just to pass away the time,
And he made the most amazing things
For someone who was blind.
He'd get a picture in his head
Of what he'd never seen,
Then he'd whittle and he'd whittle
At the substance of his dream,
And they gradually got bigger as
He grew up in the dark,
He would whittle from huge logs
Once he had stripped away the bark.
I remember when he whittled
A whole lizard from the wood,
Well, it looked much like a lizard
I would watch him as he stood,
And he'd ask me lots of questions
About sizes and of shapes,
About elephants and zebras
About seagulls, terns and apes.
I would answer him directly
In exacting measurements,
Tell him how they moved, of hair and fur
Of food, and excrements,
I would draw him mental pictures
Of the things he'd never seen,
As his knife would chip and whittle,
And his face would fairly beam.
Then one day it just turned nasty
When a friend called Henry Goode,
Said he'd seen that wooden lizard
Snaking off into the wood,
So I asked Immanuel, I said:
‘I don't know what he's on,
But Henry saw your lizard move! '
Immanuel said: ‘It's gone! '
He never would expand on this,
He'd shrug and turn away,
But still his knife flashed in the air,
Would chip and strip away,
Then Mrs. Brown came screaming that
She'd been down by the wharf,
Had been accosted by some man,
She said, ‘A wooden dwarf! '
And that was just the start of it
A mist came swirling down,
So thick we couldn't find our way
Both in or out of town,
A flying wooden parrot then
Knocked off the Parson's hat,
And lay there squawking feebly ‘til
The Parson stamped on that.
I found Immanuel on the porch
And said, ‘Hey, what's the game? '
He scowled in my direction, said,
‘Don't like it? What a shame!
You thought it was good fun to tease,
Could never get enough,
When I was just the blind kid, ‘It',
And playing Blind Man's Buff! '
Our village faded from the map
That mist just kept us there,
And people whispered, ‘Where's it gone?
That village, you know where! '
Immanuel said we'd play again
That game we loved the most,
But we'd be ‘It', he'd whittled it,
Turned loose the Holy Ghost!

Build Me A Boat
build me a boat
do not paint it
let it just be the most natural
color of wood
the glow of mahogany
build me this boat
and i shall sail on it one night
when the sea is so calm
i shall put nothing in there
not a paddle
or a rudder
build me this boat that will take me
to my own world
away from you

Consider strange appeal
Paint me in the home

Designs for love unreal
Paint me in the home
Oil and skin youll need to buy it
Consider what I mean
She sinks beneath thr moving pictures
Prepare the brush for me
Im craving with this need
Paint me down

Paint me down
Im soaking up the surface
Conceaiving new idea
Paint me in the home
Shes oiling up her subject
But all still life is here
Paint me in the home
All the boys with framed dimension
A cover up on lust
Hell take his pain and paint it over

Boat To Sail
Youre up state, up late, and city fed
Im a california label
From the top of my head,
Forever, ah
See a lot of open sky
When the sun goes down
Theres a hot, lot of loving when you come
Around, to free me, ah
In a boat to sail, boat to sail, away, ah
All those letters mailed from a
Boat to sail, away ah
We are riding in a boat to sail
Bare foot, coconut and supermild
Jamaica take a look
At your own child
Forget not
Brian wilson songs are never left behind
Dont you worry baby, youre a friend of mine
For so long
From a boat to sail, boat to sail, away ah
All those letters mailed, from a
Boat to sail, away ah
We are riding in a boat to sail
We are riding in a boat to sail

Toilsome Exercise
Toilsome exercise began sympathizing with masses,
The work raised itself, belonging to our abacuses.
The joy of our times touches on beautiful palpitations;
Whittle away the clocks. Whittle away the hours and agitations.
Our combustible material reasoned out as awesome material
For the work forwards, the function of our cereal.
Fast and slow came the weather and temperateness,
A bona fide action arose for the improvement and accurateness.

When You’re In Love
When you’re in love,
there is nothing you cannot do.
You could paint a sunset,
across a sky of blue.
You could scale the highest mountain,
or sail the roughest seas in a love boat built for two.
You could swim the deepest ocean;
run the longest mile,
paint with the colours of a rainbow,
across the saddest smile.
Because when you are in love,
you can do all these things and more.

A Paper-boat just on the Sea!
A paper-boat, I tend to be!
The sea of life is too stormy;
Afraid I am, it could sink me,
Before I can reach land’s safety!
But if He wants, the Almighty,
Could work miracles still for me;
And guide the boat to shore safely,
And keep me dry eternally!
A paper-boat just on the sea!
How can it float for long freely?
And when the sea becomes angry,
Can it escape its cruelty?
But all the same, I move slowly;
Nothing on earth can deter me;
Unless something so cowardly,
Drenches the boat mercilessly.
A paper-boat just on the sea!
I know I must make it surely;
And when I reach the shore, may be,
I will feel immensely happy!
A paper-boat just on life’s sea!
Who else would want to be like me?
God is my guide and my safety;
In Him, I have strong faith truly!
A paper-boat just on the sea!
A paper-boat, I tend to be;
A paper-boat, I want to be-
A paper-boat just on life’s sea!

Painter’s Agony
I want to paint that river
And the scene behind it
The boat and the boatmen
I know everything about
That river
My association with the river
Many a hundred memories
Evenings and sunshines
Floods and slow water
I have lived my life
On the bank of that river
I want to paint
Paint it with the most beautiful colors
I want to borrow some colors
From the colors of paradise
And I love the town
That lives beside the river
Old and dusty
Where shall I take you
In that small town
Every nook and corner
Shall tell you that it knows me
I want to paint that town
In colors of heaven
I want to carry a few children
And take them on a tour
I want to see the town with their eyes
And then go to the riverbank
And meditate for a while
Drink the wine of nature
And get lost into the world of beauty
And flow with the river
Enter every house
My heart throbs in harmony
With every heart in the town
Give me colors divine
Colors from the other world
For I want to paint
That river and that town
(This poem is about a small town on the bank of river Indus)

16 Shells From A 30-06
Words and music by tom waits
Plugged 16 shells from a thirty-aught-six
And the black crow flew through
A hole in the sky
And I spent all my buttons on an old pack mule
And I made me a ladder ftom a pawn shop marimba
And I leaned it up against a dandelion tree
Leaned it up against a dandelion tree
Leaned it up against a dandelion tree
Well I cooked them feathers on the iron spit
And I filled me a sachel full of old pig corn
And I beat me a billy from an old french horn
And kicked that mule to the top of the tree
Kicked that mule to the top of the tree
Blew me a hole bout the size of a kickdrum
And I cut me a switch from a long branch elbow
Im gonna whittle you into kindlin
Black crow 16 shells from a thirty-aught-six
Whittle you into kindlin
Black crow 16 shells from a thirty-aught-six
Well I slept in the hotter of a dry creek bed
And I tore out the buckets from a red corvette
Tore out the buckets from a red corvette
Lionel, dave and the butcher made three
You got to meet me by the knuckles of the skinny bone tree
With the strings of a washburn
Stretched like a clothesline
You know me and that mule scrambled right through the hole
Me and that mule scrambled right through the hole
Im gonna whittle you into kindlin
Black crow 16 shells ftom a thirty-aught-six
Whittle you into kindlin
Black crow 16 shells from a thirty-aught-six
Now I hold him prisoner in a washburn jail
And I strapped it on the back of my old kick mule
Strapped it on the back of my old kick mule
Bang on the strings just to drive him crazy
And I strum it toud just to rattle his cage
Strum it loud just to rattle his cage
Strum it loud just to rattle his cage
Strum it loud just to rattle his cage
Im gonna whittle you into kindlin
Black crow 16 shells from a thirty-aught-six
Whittle you into kindlin
Black crow 16 shells from a thirty-aught-six

Sonnet: Whither Thy Art, Man?
Yes, men and women, paint their eyelashes,
And dye their hair in hues and paint their nails;
And wear head-bands, multi-colored sashes,
And paint the tortoises and shells of snails.
Some paint their bodies fully or one-half;
Some paint their country’s flag over their face;
Some look like leopards, lions, clowns that laugh;
Some tattoo pictures or paint words so base.
Some paint their naked bodies as if dressed
Or apply stickers of men, Gods or beast;
Their art on human skins looks to them best
And dance in ritual for a sumptuous feast.
The art of man has gone so crazy now,
For men paint Dogs, cats, cattle, also cow.

Paint
Don't paint me red,
Red is for bold women that use cheap scent
Don't paint me blue
Blue is for sadness and regret
Don't paint me green
Green is for envy and not to be seen
Don't paint me black
black is for the night and I love the light
Don't paint me white
White is for virgins and me, I love a flirtin'
Don't paint me orange
Orange is vile and I have some style
Don't paint me brown or grey or cream
these colours are boring and really not me.
Paint me in silver, platinum or gold
so I remain precious as I grow old.

Yes You May Paint My World
be ready
paint my world
be patient
it is not as white
as a canvass
to start with
i am spotted
like gerard manley hopkins
with his cow
and this trout
i have some
red marks on
my heart and
some stains
in my brains
i am dark
and you will need
nothing black
paint me
with the color
of gentleness
and the color
of your concern
i am not really
lovable but
you may paint
me with the colors
of your love
if you have doubts
don't worry
make something
abstract about me
i won't bother
i am your brother

I See A Boat On A River
He left on a boat
Just to follow a dream
He had to find.
You can't hold a man
When he follows a dream
That's on his mind.
I see a boat on the river,
It's sailing away
Down to the ocean,
Where to i can't say.
Boat on the river,
It's sailing away
Down to the ocean,
Where to i can't say.
I waited for him
Such a very long time,
Don't know what for
'cause i should have known
When he left on the boat
We'll meet no more.
I see a boat on the river,
It's sailing away
Down to the ocean,
Where to i can't say.
Boat on the river,
It's sailing away
Down to the ocean,
Where to i can't say.
Boat on the river,
It's sailing away
Down to the ocean,
Where to i can't say.
Boat on the river.
You're bound for the sea,
If you should find him
Please greet him from me.
There were people who came
And said it's really a shame,
Why did he take off
To follow just a dream.
But i guess they were wrong,
In life you're sailing along
And things don't turn out
As simple as they seem.
Boat on the river,
It's sailing away
Down to the ocean,
Where to i can't say.
I see a boat on the river,
It's sailing away
Down to the ocean,
Where to i can't say.
I see a boat on the river.
You're bound for the sea,
If you should find him
Please greet him from me.
Boat on the river,
It's sailing away
Down to

My Paint Heroes (home Demo)

Laughing lions leap up from the page
My the world looks good from where you are
My the world looks good from where you paint from
Barcelona, nuclear festive, wire women
Wriggle from life's cage
My the world looks good from where you are
My the world looks good from where you paint from
My the world looks good from where you are
My the world looks like it's all a party
Packed with my paint heroes
Like it's all a party
Packed with Rousseau
Miro, Miro, on my wall
I love you the most of all
In Port Lligat, liked his Gala
Waxed antenna, brushes up a storm
My the world looks good from where you are
My the world looks good from where you paint from
Catalonia's atom caveman
Cracks his whipline tipped in purest form

The Boat and The Sea
I will tell you, my Dear
Story of the Boat and the Sea
'Since the unknown time
The Boat heard the call from the Sea
Wings of Gull, blue waves
Took Boat traveled everywhere, all ways
The Boat's soul's filled with hopes
And the Sea's boundless love
Boat went far, further no tiresome
The Sea was still far...so far
Those nights the moon was gentle
The sea was like a girl, who's little
She whispered, she sent her thoughts
Round the boatside, waves elapsed
Sometimes, causeless
The Sea, its waves, pourred impetuously in the Boat
(Because of Love, for all times, ever was just imovable?)
Only the Boat understood
How boundless the Sea was
Only the Boat knew
Where the Boat went to, back to
The days without meeting
The sea was with white head, with missing
The days without gathering
The Boat was broken - crack
If already seperated from the Boat
The Sea only remained the wind and waves
...up and down, a craze'
If having to be separated from you
I just only remain storms
