So what if I'm smokin' weed onstage and doing what I gotta do? It's not me shooting nobody, stabbing nobody, killing nobody. It's a peaceful gesture and they have to respect that and appreciate that.

John Sinclair
It aint fair, john sinclair
In the stir for breathing air
Wont you care for john sinclair?
In the stir for breathing air
Let him be, set him free
Let him be like you and me
They gave him ten for two
What else can the judges do?
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta set him free
If hed been a soldier man
Shooting gooks in vietnam
If he was the cia
Selling dope and making hay
Hed be free, theyd let him be
Breathing air, like you and me
They gave him ten for two
What else can the judges do?
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta set him free
They gave him ten for two
They got ali otis too.
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta set him free
Was he jailed for what he done?
Or representing everyone
Free john now, if we can
From the clutches of the man
Let him be, lift the lid
Bring him to his wife and kids
They gave him ten for two
What else can the bastards do?
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta,
Gotta, gotta, gotta set him free

Smokin' 45
Yeah, hey, I've seen the Bad Lands, I've held awhirlwind in my hand
Slept in the centre, Whiskey has washed away the sand, yeah
Gamblers who cheated, And
Sheriffs who lied, The last thing
they saw, From the death that they died, Was my Smokin' 45, my
smokin' 45
Ten thousand dollars, That's what I'm worth dead or alive, Six loaded chambers, Ten men rode up not
one survived, They got my name
on the telegraph wire, Dead men's faces and a gun that's for hire,
Gamblers who cheated
And Sheriffs who lied
The last thing they saw,
From the death that they died
Was my smokin' 45, my smokin'
45, yeah
I'm riding south to the Mexico line
Posse behind me
And they're making good time
Men with vendetta's,
Who shouldn't have tried,
To reach for quick fame,
With a gun at their side
Against my smokin' 45,
My smokin' 45,
My smokin' 45,
I'm talking about my smokin' 45
My smokin' 45
Smokin' 45
Smokin' 45
Gonna get you, can depend my friend
Gonna get you, dead or alive
My smokin', smokin', smokin' 45, yeah

Smokin
Were gonna play you a song, a little bit of rock-n-roll
You gotta let yourself go, the bands gonna take control.
Were gettin down today
Well pick you up and take you away
Get down tonight
Smokin, smokin
Were cookin tonight, just keep on tokin
Smokin, smokin
I feel alright, mamma Im not jokin, yeah.
Get your feet to the floor, everybody rock and roll
Youve got nothing to lose just the rhythm and blues, thats all, yeah
Were gonna feel ok
Well pick you up and take you away
Get down tonight.
Smokin, smokin
Were cookin tonight, just keep on tokin
Smokin, smokin
I feel alright, mamma Im not jokin, yeah.
Everybody jumpin, dancin to the boogie tonight
Clap your hands, move your feet
If you dont you know it wont seem right
Were gettin down today
Well pick you up and take you away
Get down tonight
Were gettin down today
Well pick you up and take you away
Get down tonight, well alright!

Giggles, Laughter and Stabbing Stares
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
It would kill them to be nice,
It would hurt them to be kind,
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
The notes are being passed around,
They don’t see, no one cares,
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
Tearing at all I’ve built up,
But it won’t work anymore,
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
What they don’t know is,
I just don’t care,
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
Every one is doing it,
But I just sit and laugh,
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
It’s so funny they think I care,
They are stupid to think I do,
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares,
I laugh and laugh
Because they don’t see that no one cares,
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares…
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares…
Giggles, laughter and stabbing stares…

You Gotta Move
You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move
Oh... when my God gets ready
You gotta move
You gotta move
You may be high
You may be low
You may be rich... yeah
You may be poor
But when the Lord get ready
You gotta move
You gotta move
Huh Huh... ooww...
Yes...
You may be old
You may be young
You may be weak
Maybe high-strung
But when the good Lord get ready
You gotta move
You gotta move
You see dat woman
Who walks the street
You see dat cowboy
Who walks his beat
But when the Lord gets ready
You gotta move
You gotta move
You got to... ooww
Yeah I was hangin\' with the Devil when we made a pact
I\'m drinkin\' welfare whiskey smokin\' food stamp crack
It was one part sour... two parts sweet
Three parts strong... and four parts weak
I would rather sit on a pumpkin
And have it all to myself
Then to be crowded on a velvet cushion
You may be bad
You can not see
You may be deaf
It\'s all meant to be
Now when the Lord get ready
You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move
You got to know
When the good get ready
You gotta move
Huh huh... you gotta
You gotta move...
You gotta move
You gotta move...

Change My Life
[hook]
Gotta change my life
Lord knows I aint livin right
Yall know i aint chillin right
Smokin out everyday and night
Gotta ease my mind
Gotta find time to rewind
Cause I'm fallin way behind
Me and my dogs we known to ride
Gotta watch my back
Represent for the soldier
Die couple years older

Smokin In The Boys Room
(talk)
Did you ever seem to have one of those days
When everyone seemed to be on your case
From your teacher all the waydown to your best girlfriend
Well, that used to happen to me all the time
But I found a way to get out of it
Sittin in the classroom thinkin its a drag
Listening to the teacher rap--just aint my bag
When two bells ring you know its my cue
Gonna meet the boys on floor number 2
Smokin in the boys room
Smokin in the boys room
Teacher dont you fill me up with your rules
Everybody knows that smokin aint allowed in school
Checkin out the halls makin sure the coast is clear
Lookin in the stalls--nah, there aint nobody here
My buddies sixx, mick & tom
To get caught would surely be the death of us all
Smokin in the boys room
Smokin in the boys room
Teacher dont you fill me up with your rules
Everybody knows that smokin aint allowed in school
Put me to work in the school bookstore
Check-out counter, and I got bored
Teacher was lookin for me all around
Two hours later you know where I was found
Smokin in the boys room
Smokin in the boys room
Teacher dont you fill me up with your rules
Everybody knows that smokin aint allowed in school
Smokin in the boys room
Smokin in the boys room
Smokin in the boys room
Smokin in the boys room
Teacher dont you fill me up with your rules
Everybody knows that smokin aint allowed in school
One more time
Smokin in the boys room
Smokin in the boys room
Teacher I aint foolin around with your rules
Everybody knows that smokin aint allowed in school

I'm not about trying to be out here fighting and shooting, stabbing and, you know, all that crap, man.
Freedom is a Powerful Word
freedom is a powerful word
filled with glori and brightened eyes
freedom is a powerful word
where no black child is left behind
the despair of no hesitation
the depair of no education
freedom is a powerful word
freedom is a powerful word
where everyone gets a chance to be one
freedom is a powerful word
where a black man can raise his son
we got freedom
but we dont respect it
black boys droppin out of school
black girls gettin pregnant at early ages
these people fought for our rights
but all we do is abuse it
like i said freedom is a powerful word
are you sure we are free
why are we killing our own race
we are gettin involved in the wrong stuff
like gangs and selling drugs
smokin weed and makin d's
it aint right
freedom is a powerful word
if it is so powerful
dont abuse it

Shining Tonight
You're a star
You'll go far
Doesn't matter who you are
It's time to go
Time to fly
Way up in that beautiful sky
I see you shine
Oh so bright
Wish I could be with you tonight
We have the moonlight
We have the stars shining bright!
Doesn't matter who you are
Your a star
We will go far
Your my shooting star
My shooting star
Gonna drive all day
Gonna drive all night
I don't care if I gotta fight
Just to see your alright
Gotta look into your eyes
Gotta see your smile
Gotta hear your laugh
Gotta feel your touch
Gotta feel your breathe
All I want is you to be with me
Your a star
You'll go far
Doesn't matter who you are
Just as long
As I see your face
I'll know then
There is a safe place

No Quick Fix
theres no quick fix
you gotta take your licks
strange times long lines
there are no clean cups
you gotta mess it up
to see why you cry
i cant stay home at night
im drawn out like a moth to lamplight
come on now
you gotta try it out
youre killing time
youre killing mine
dont go, ill never know
when youre away, i sleep all day
nothing works and thinking hurts
you belong to me
in my dreams

Take It Easy
Everybody talkin bout what it is and what it aint
What kinda house and what kinda paint
Everybody seems to be steppin in time
But its much too fast and I gotta remind ya
Ooooo, we gotta take it easy
Ooooo, we gotta take it easy
Old kinda feelings, saturday nights
God Im afraid n gotta pull out the stops
Everybody seems to be marchin in time
But its much too fast and I gotta remind ya
Ooooo, we gotta take it easy
Ooooo, we gotta take it easy, yeah
New kid smokin in a bar tonight
Who be pullin on a peace pipe
Where you sit is where its at
Gotta get off your ass cause youre gettin too fat
Ooooo, we gotta take it easy
Ooooo, gotta take it easy
Ooooo, we gotta take it easy
Ooooo, we gotta take it easy
Sweepin up the tombs with your paranoid yups
Later hop the stores when you clean your cups
Everybodys livin in the middle of the line
But its much too much and I gotta remind ya
Ooooo, better take it easy
Ooooo, we better take it easy
Ooooo, you better take it easy
Dont do it
Dont do, gotta take it easy
Gotta, gotta take it easy
Gotta, gotta take it easy
Gotta take it ea...
Ooooo, we gotta take it easy
We gotta take it easy
Ooooo, gotta take it, I gotta take it
I gotta take it, I gotta take it
Old kinda feelings, saturday nights
God Im afraid, gotta pull out the stops

The Art Of Killing
he never for once
imagined that he could kill
killing
the simple thought of killing
makes him puke
he tried once
killing a fruit fly
in a snap
reasoning that it infected
its dessert
that whole night
he could not sleep
for he was
worn with guilt
his brother is a moron
the worst in class
makes most of the fame
by killing
many fruit flies
he is the top of his class
but he laughs at him
short of respect
for his fear of killing
'it is a phobia' his brother says
and just like everything else
runs berserk and
becomes an unreasonable
generalization
let me cut this story short
he did not make money
waddled in poverty and
feared the art of killing
helpless n& useless in-himself
his wife
deserted him and his kids
lost that respect
because he will never kill
a fly again
i do not want to make this
story long and
agonizing,
know what?
he killed himself.

No Respect
Respect,
Always everybody looking for some
Respect,
Who do you think youre gonna get it from
Respect,
Anybody here deserving of none
Respect,
Tell me what makes you think
Youre not the one
No respect, no respect none
No respect, no respect none
No respect, no respect none
No respect, no respect none
Respect,
Why be concerned with
Public adulation
Respect,
Pat on the back crying
For attention
Respect,
Finding out what it really
Means to me
Respect,
Honor comes only after
Humility

Tryin
Im just arriving in the city
And theres music on my mind
Lookin for my destination and
My home is far behind
cause its a long road ahead
And you can make it in the end
And Im gonna make it with my friends
And Im tryin
It took me sometime to see it
Now Im looking through this world
And its gonna take some time before
I get back, help me girl
cause you can make it if you try
You gotta lay it on the line
And everything will be fine if you try
Sittin smokin just a thinkin
Is an easy thing to do
We gotta keep on trying for
The feelin to come through
And its a lonely way to live
You gotta take it, you gotta live
If you mistake it, just try again
And Im trying, yeah!
Got to keep on trying
Ah, we got to keep on trying
Yeah Im trying.... etc..

I still get really nervous, though, before each performance. It kind of hits about 15 minutes before we go onstage - sometimes I don't even want to go on. But once I'm onstage I'm fine.

All Day In Bed To Rest
So peaceful is the sleep,
That comes without upsetting news.
So peaceful is it,
To close one's eyes...
And not think of anything else,
Important left to do.
So peaceful too it is,
To know our neighbors ears...
Aren't pressed against the walls,
To listen to hear what's going on in our space...
Because they are not impressed by it at all.
So peaceful to know there is shared respect.
And a concern that is shown...
Known and it protects.
So peaceful is the rest one gets,
Just knowing one's life...
Is complete with happiness.
And with no regrets...
One can leave from one's doorstep,
And come back to be welcomed...
By the Sunrise, Noon and even Sunset.
If one chooses to stay,
All day in bed to rest.

Respect Yourself
Refrain:
Respect yourself
Change your mind
Respect yourself
Dont be blind
Respect yourself
And you will see the light
Respect yourself
And you will find your way
So practise what you pray
Dont run away
Respect yourself
Respect yourself
Respect yourself
And you will see the light
1.
If you are feeling weak so deep inside
No place to run, no place to hide
R. E. S. P. E. C. T
Respect your destiny
If you dont know what is right or wrong
If you feel confused and your thoughts are gone
R. E. S. P. E. C. T
Respect yourself, be free
2.
Dont care about what people say
Believe in yourself and go your own way
Respect - no resignation
Leave the path of isolation
Dont care about what people say
R.E.S.P.E.C.T , will never get away
Today, we stay, and pay attention anyway
Fairplay, everyday dont run away
3.
You dont know, no, what you dont know
Like the colours of the rainbow
Respect is the name of the game
Respect yourself and you never miss your aim
If you gonna show weakness
You gotta let them know
You dont know, no, what you dont know
If you really wanna grow, say no just go

Wishing on a shooting star
I wished upon a shooting star
As it went through the sky,
I wished upon a shooting star
As it shot right by.
I wished upon a shooting star
That my prayers would all come true,
I wished upon a shooting star
And then I thought of you.
I wished upon a shooting star
And noticed I was crying,
I wished upon a shooting star
And realized I was dying.
I wished upon a shooting star
But my wish never came true,
I wished upon a shooting star
And hoped it would get me through.
I wished upon a shooting star
That the she would still be there,
I wished upon a shooting star
That she would always care.
I wished upon a shooting star
Here in this night sky,
I wished upon a shooting star
That our love will never die.
