There is no need for advertisements to look like advertisements. If you make them look like editorial pages, you will attract about 50 per cent more readers.

The advertisements in a newspaper are more full knowledge in respect to what is going on in a state or community than the editorial columns are.

Requirements Set By Advertisements
I live a life that is not mine, sitting in
one place for hours on end without
a wonderful book offering mental
challenges or great adventures
to stimulate the mind
Stuck with dead words, no meaning,
metre or rhythm - no music therein -
cold lines indicting people for being
human - imprisoning them for living
the adventures & dreams
Held up to them in advertisements -
brainwashing everyone to believe
real happiness resides in owning
wealth- living pampered lives-so-
impossible to feel guilt
For taking what is rightfully theirs:
happiness - if they were not born
into riches their duty is- to rectify
this ‘cause advertisements claim:
ALL are deserving of -
- wonderful lifestyles and products
to beautify their appearance; there-
fore; why should our laws ostracise
them for fulfilling the requirements
- set by advertisements?

I did not feel 'evil' when I wrote advertisements for Puerto Rico. They helped attract industry and tourists to a country which had been living on the edge of starvation for 400 years.

Conditions Apply
Some attractive advertisements
attract with intentions to falsify,
somewhere in small type
written, * conditions apply.

Tabloid Moments
An escaping from those tabloid moments,
Seems to be an incredible impossibility.
Plastered on everything that is moving,
Are advertisements reminding...
What's on TV, what to eat, how to dress
And what to read.
Intimate details of celebrities,
Has made the paparazzi a new industry.
And the squeezing of produce in a grocery store,
One is reminded which 'star' is on what diet.
Is it celery and grapefruit?
And what are avocados used for?
An escaping from those tabloid moments,
Seems to be an incredible impossibility.
Plastered on everything that is moving,
Are advertisements reminding...
What's on TV, what to eat, how to dress
And what to read.

That the Op-Ed page is very important in readers' and the nation's perception of the Times, the perception of its editorial positions, and of its implicit editorial positions as expressed by the publisher's choice of people who are given the freedom to write opinion columns.

Access to Axe Integrities
They have access to axe integrities.
Be it race,
One's position.
Color, heritage, religious beliefs and/or creed.
With media supported advertisements,
They do it.
To mouth their ideologies.
And influencing viewers and listeners all,
To air their insults and dirt to spew.
Knowing only few have control over the media.
To sway opinion.
And divide people too!
Destructive are their intentions.
And with this done they can convince...
Those of limited conscious.
And those clearly devoid of common sense.
But they are the few,
Who can afford to do what they do.
Since they are paid to voice their opinions.
No matter who it is,
They wish to defame and screw!
They have access to axe integrities.
Be it race,
One's position.
Color, heritage, religious beliefs and/or creed.
With media supported advertisements,
They do it.
To mouth their ideologies.
And these,
Are the days we live!
And these people prey...
With feelings and deeds,
That are insensitive!

It strikes me as bad manners for a magazine to accept one of my advertisements and then attack it editorially - like inviting a man to dinner then spitting in his eye.
