As the kindled fire consumes the fuel, so in the flame of wisdom the embers of action are burnt to ashes.

Flame on firE

if your not interested
in building to this flame
your only fuel to my fire

as you liquify the gas
i burn deeper and dance higher

my flame wont even let fire pass
without my light getting brighter
i bring dead ashes back to life

you can come full torch
all i need is my lighter
there is nothing too blazing
for my beacon to scorch

radiant with heat
luminously spicy like lust under the sheet
or burnt rubber on tire
you pick your simile or metaphor
my flame is on fire

Ashes

(lonnie wilson/chris waters/charlotte wilson)
Ashes
Hes nothing but ashes
No feelings have lasted
No love remains
Ashes
Thats all that our past is
Hes nothing but ashes
From a cold old flame
I saw your face when
He waltzed in here
But those old embers
Havent burned for years
The light thats shining
In my eyes
Is for the one that
Im with tonight
Ashes
Hes nothing but ashes
No feelings have lasted
No love remains
Ashes
Thats all that our past is
Hes nothing but ashes
From a cold old flame
No I dont blame you
For having some doubts
But when he left me
That fire burned out
So dont be thinking
Theres still a spark
cause he could never
Tear us apart
Ashes
Hes nothing but ashes
No feelings have lasted
No love remains
Ashes
Thats all that our past is
Hes nothing but ashes
From a cold old flame
Hes nothing but ashes
From a cold old flame

From the holy fire that should never die (rondine)

From the holy fire that should never die
men were send to sabotage, maim and kill
to poison, plant landmines with a deadly skill
until flaming rockets fell out of the sky,
rising up did burning wood and ashes fly
that made the glowing embers move and spill
from the holy fire.

Armed soldiers were not just driving by,
armoured cars came roaring over the hill,
screaming death until everything was still
burnt out did the last old white embers lie,
from the holy fire.

Fuel To The Flame

You kindle the fire of love inside me
Each time our lips meet
Im not strong when were alone
Your kisses make me weak
You must know how I feel
But do you feel the same
Everytime you kiss me
You add fuel to the flame
My eyes light up when I see you
I burn with desire
Each time youre near
You say youll care
But still Im not sure
But please dont ask me to love you
If youre not gonna change my name
Everytime you touch me
You add fuel to the flame
This fire you started inside me
Has reached my very soul
Youre adding fuel to a flame
Thats already burning out of control
When you give me your name
I give you everything
Everytime you kiss me
Adds fuel to the flame
Yes everytime you touch me
You add fuel to the flame

Inward Burning Fire

It's a dark path now - I don't know where it leads.
I only know you're not on it.
Insufficient light comes from the flame in my heart.
The fire you started.

This flame rages seeking fuel to burn and survive.
Give me some coal dust from your hair.
Just some green driftwood shavings from your eyes.
Your oaken wood hands warming mine - they're so cold now.

Better yet, an answering warmth
from the fire burning in your heart for mine.
Nothing serves to heal a dying flame as that meeting would.
But that's my fire seeking what will not be found on this path.

So, the flame turns inward to die out.
I hide the smoke.
It was always enough for you alone to know of this kindling within.
In the flame's death it must be secret still.

The fire consumes internally,
seeking out each memory hidden away.
Consuming every thought I ever had of you.
No one knows the fire's rage
until it turns to them and touches.

It will burn on inward
until it has devoured every memory, every feeling
with sustenance left in it.

It's a painful death,
but once the fire exists
it can only consume until it dies.
I know this science. I accept.
I accepted long ago.
The fire is so warm when first kindled.

Soon, I hope and fear,
only ash will be left.
The pain will be over.
I know I'll be cold but I'll rest.

As for now, while it's still burning,
I will make one vow.
I will save one tiny ember.
I will try to keep it warm and safe.
Just in case the path turns - and there you are.

And if a spark still remains within you too
this dear and dreaded fire can rise again.

Though more likely I know -
my little ember will serve only to remind me what warmth was
and burn my fingers.

Enduring Flame Of Passion

The enduring flame of passion burns on
in hearts filled with only embers.
The passion that once burnt bright
never really dies away.
The smouldering embers
still hold an enduring flame,
just needing a gentle spark
to bring them back to life again.

Fire and Light

Fire and light, fire and light
we were fire and light
before the world began
we shown like stars

now enclosed in flesh
like fireflies in jars
we forget we emit light
and a flame that consumes

Like the earth inside the core
or the lamps inside a room
we are like our Maker
fire and light, fire light,
a love that consumes the cold and night.

Old Fire, New Flame

The fires flames had now burnt low,
The embers began to lose their glow,
Slightly warm ever-growing cold.
Soot through out the chimney old,
Smoke upward could hardly flow.
As after fuel no one choose to go.
Even with the sun shinning so bright,
Frost atop the roof remained white.
Laid to rest good use of minds eye.
From worldly sorrow heart did cry.
Peace and joy no longer remained.
The windows became tear stained.
Almost done the unwinding clock.
Almost unanswered was the knock,
Of someone special at hearts door.
Spirits embraced warming the core.
Kind words their effects now unfold,
On an old fire, like heaping new coal.
New friends, their love would acclaim,
Bringing to that old fire, a new flame!

Adding Fuel To The Flame

When we play into the hands of anothers anger
We are only adding fuel to their flame.
And if it continues to burn out of control
Then who but yourself is really to blame?

It's what true anger feeds off!
Another's piling on more dry wood!
To fuel anger's flames my friend
Brings nothing but burnt feelings, not good!

Walk away, or snuff it's fire out!
Before it rages way out of control!
It is the only way you'll win anger's rage!
That battle of the fiery sparks one throws!

Sonnet XXX: Those Priests

To the Vestals

Those priests which first the Vestal fire begun,
Which might be borrow'd from no earthly flame,
Devis'd a vessel to receive the Sun,
Being steadfastly opposed to the same;
Where, with sweet wood, laid curiously by art,
On which the Sun might by reflection beat,
Receiving strength from every secret part,
The fuel kindled with celestial heat.
Thy blessed eyes the sun which lights this fire,
Thy holy thoughts, they be the Vestal flame,
The precious odors be my chaste desire,
My breast's the vessel which includes the same.
Thou art my Vesta, thou my Goddess art;
Thy hallow'd temple only is my Heart.

Walk Through The Fire

Walk through the fire
Walk through the fire (walk through the fire)
Through the dust and ashes
While the building crashes
Walk through the flame (walk through the fire)
No trace of indecision
Lion keep his vision clear
Moving out
Across the water
The wet leaves quiver in the heat
Darkness heavy on my shoulder
Smell the smoke, sickly sweet
The bodys weak, the shadows strong
Walk through the fire (walk through the fire)
Through the dust and ashes
While the building crashes
Walk through the flame (walk through the fire)
Lion show no sign of fear
Walk through the fire (walk through the fire)
Through the dust and ashes
While the building crashes
Walk through the flame (walk through the fire)
No time for doubt or caution
Taken by the strong emotion
Walk through the fire (walk through the fire)
No trace of indecision
Lion hold his vision clear
(walk, walk, walk)
Walk through the fire (walk through the fire)
Walking in the path of angel
Walk on down below, walk on down below
Walk on down below, walk on down below

Catching Fire

Glowing embers, remnants of a world past.
Life is dying, its energy expiring fast.
The last hope for life to survive is fading out and we're stuck drowning in a sea of doubt!
-
Burnt out timber, shadows of what use to be.
Lord God! Start a fire inside me!
So many are burnout, no fire left, to our flaking ashes we cleft.
-
Someone needs to ignite the fire, bring us back to life!
Keep us alive, don't let the darkness suffocate the light:
So many of us, burnt-out, dead, and alone, We need fire in the bones!
-
We're sitting here, waiting for someone to catch fire-dying-
Sitting here warming benches, not even trying.
By our lack of faith, we condemn ourselves to die!
-
Waiting for God to move, but God has already done so.
While we're stalling, he's calling us to go!
But we're waiting for fire, that's already here, but we won't commit because of our fear.
-
Haunted by a fear of the unknown, that we can't survive.
We sit and kill, the very life we're trying to revive.
Waiting for someone else to move, with the blame on our heads, we refuse to push ahead.
-
If you don't move, and he besides you doesn't move,
Who's going to keep the fire, that runs this world, tell me who?
So I'm catching fire, hoping others catch fire with me: catching fire to set men free, are you with me?

Where Is The Fire?

Where is the fire
That burnt in freedom fighters
Making them selfless
Dying for our independence

Where is the fire
That burnt in J.M and Ouko
And others who were felled
Making them love truth
For it, paying the ultimate price

Where is the fire
That burnt in the then leaders
Making them fearless
Suffering for multiparty politics

Where is the fire
That burnt in civil rights activists
The poor peoples defenders
And others who attended kamukunjis

Where is the fire
That burnt individualism
In dire times of crises

Where is the fire?

The Fire Still Burns

Fire never dies, just smoulders,
like love you need to fan it,
to keep the flame alive.
Like the smouldering embers,
that needs only a little attention,
to become a flame again.
So the parting lovers,
need only to kiss to ignite the flame,
and start the passion again.

Whenever You Hug Me...

Destructive memories...

Endless are these
attempts to stop
this fire of lust...

I doomed to lust
the fire burns
heart's extreme

Meeting again
your soft hug
stokes the fire

Thoughts of your name
the fires fuel
consumes me.

Well Sweep Out The Ashes

(joyce allsup)
We know its wrong to let this fire burn between us
Weve got to stop this wild desire in you and in me
So well let the flame burn once again until the thrill is gone
Then well sweep out the ashes in the morning
Were two people caught up in the flame that has to die out soon
I didnt mean to start this fire and neither did you
So tonight when you hold me tight well let the fire burn on
And well sweep out the ashes in the morning
Each time when we meet we both agree that its for the last time
But out of your arms Im out of my mind
So well taste the thrill of stolen love tonight until the dawning
And well sweep out the ashes in the morning
Were two people caught up in the flame that has to die out soon
I didnt mean to start this fire and neither did you
So tonight when you hold me tight well let the fire burn on
And well sweep out the ashes in the morning
Yes well taste the thrill of stolen love tonight until the dawning
And well sweep out the ashes
Well sweep out the ashes
Well sweep out the ashes in the morning

We'll Sweep Out The Ashes In The Morning

We know it's wrong to let this fire burn between us
We've got to stop this wild desire in you and in me
So we'll let the flame burn once again until the thrill is gone

We're two people caught up in the flame that has to die down soon

So tonight when you hold me tight we'll let the fire burn on

The Boy with Fire in His Eyes

The boy with fire in his eyes
Stands there waiting.
It is his soul inside;
It keeps him standing.

And if ever the fire goes out,
He will freeze in the cold.
It is his heat
And all that keeps him living.

Or if it never is put to use,
It will consume him;
He will burn to the ground
His ashes left behind.

But if the fire blazes,
If kindled, kept and carried,
If the boy with fire in his eyes
Finds life inside that fire,

His fire will light the world,
Will pierce the mist,
A fire to drive the dark away
Forever and ever more.

Burning Brush

burning brush out back,
sticks and twigs and limbs...
when the pile got low
i started throwing in,
memories, feelings, and dreams.

the fire blazed high,
but just for a moment...
then died to embers,
steady and pulsing...
and so does time to the heart!

the flame that gasps for air,
strangled by its own ardor...
till the outer body burns,
what's left is pure fuel...
warming the feet of God!
